For what it's worth, Aaron Donald was part of a defense that basically shut Brady and the Patriots down in the Super Bowl. The score was 3-0 in the 4th quarter. Rams offense lost them that game. Rams almost won a Super Bowl because of their defense if Goff could make a play somewhere. Also, most forgettable/boring Super Bowl ever. It's ALWAYS great to have amazing players. As for the term "luxury pick" I've never liked it. That's Bengals type thinking. Existence is fine, winning a Super Bowl is a "luxury." The whole league is a "luxury" so go get great players and win titles!

He did just as good, if not better, than Brees with New Orleans when Brees was out for a handful of games. That's what got him the decent $$ in Carolina. I think he can still play at a decent level, but he doesn't scare me in the AFC.

If I'm the Bengals I draft the best offensive weapon available in round 1 and go OL in round 2. There will be a good OL where they pick in one of the first picks of the 2nd round. the Bengals need some spark. They just seem like a boring, outdated team.

The Bills could very well be sitting in a spot where a handful of really compelling players are there at 30. It could also make a trade easier. If the Bills want to get up to 21 or 22, and there are a ton of good players that slid due to a run on QBs early, another team might be willing to drop down a handful of spots because of that, especially if the Bills want a RB and they don't. Should be fun to watch!

It seemed like Singletary went from "makes you miss in a phone booth" to just another guy really quickly. He was exciting and dynamic his first season here. Hopefully he can get back to that.

Jackson makes some insane plays, and it's fun to watch how the Ravens have totally tailored their offense to his skillset. There are so many ways to play football, so it's neat to see a team do something totally different and actually win doing it. The Ravens can 100% win a Super Bowl like this. They win a lot of games, and all it takes is the right mix of circumstances. If they can get a lead in a playoff game early and go with their brand of running the ball, great defense, and Lamar making things happen, they can beat anyone. When they get behind it doesn't work, but every team has its weakness. I would still rather have Allen at QB, and I expect to see him take the Bills to a Super Bowl, because top 5 QBs get there eventually.

It's true that all of these guys aren't banking Mahomes type money. But even random 5th and 6th rounders are doing pretty well. I went through and just looked at the 2020 draft list and did some quick research on a handful of random 5th and 6th round players. They all pretty much had 4 year, 3-4 million dollar contracts. Here's some detail on a random Colts LB taken last year in the 6th round: Jordan Glasgow. I have no idea who he is, but he was the 2nd to last player taken in round 6. His contract is 4 years, $3.4 million. Looking at the details, he got a $129,000 signing bonus, and if he plays this season will have made: $129,000 bonus $610,000 2020 salary $780,000 2021 salary TOTAL: 1,519,000 over 2 years Now, you're right, that's not all take home pay, and there's no guarantee he will play more than 2 seasons. There's no guarantee he'll even play this year. As Kyle Shanahan reminded us all recently, none of us are guaranteed anything, so that's a wash in terms of "fairness." But what IS true (assuming he is not released in 2021) is that in 2 years Glasgow will have earned just over $1.5 million dollars for running around on special teams, and he will have a free college degree and only be 25 years old, which is old for a guy who only played 2 years. The question was "is the draft fair?" I think you could argue that the draft was GOOD for Mr. Glasgow. By virtue of his draft position he was entitled to a slotted contract, determined by the league. He's on a very good team with good to great coaching. Judging by his stats (just a bunch of special teams snaps) I don't think teams would be knocking down his door to sign him if there wasn't a draft. But since the Colts had a 6th round pick they used it on a guy they have a vested interest in developing. If they do, he will get rich in his second contract. If not, he'll walk away with 1.5 million if they let him go after this season. If he sticks around 1 more year, he'll have pocketed over 2.2 million in just 3 years. And his earning days wouldn't just be over then. He would be a former NFL player with hundreds of thousands to a million dollars in the bank, decent health, youth, an education, and lots of contacts. Once you are an NFL player you are in an exclusive club. It opens doors. That is the "lower end of the draft" type player who only plays 2 seasons then his career ends. For comparison, since we're talking earnings, a potential classmate of his who does pretty well upon graduation and makes $50,000 in his/her first job would need to work at that job for 30 years to equal the income that Mr. Glasgow earned in 2 by willingly entering a league that has a draft in order to pursue a football career. So my answer is YES, the draft is fair for the players.

It's simple. The rookies to be participate in the process willingly. If they don't want to be part of it they don't have to. Playing pro football is not a right. You don't see many unhappy guys who were just drafted. Generations of wealth overnight as the result of a process they chose to enter. So unfair!

hard to get too upset about another weapon on offense... But I can't see them trading up for a RB. Whatever happens, I hope this doesn't hurt our chances of getting a Mt. ________________ at DT in this draft.

If NE doesn't succeed in trading up or the guy they want is gone maybe they send a high pick to SF for Jimmy G.

If you and your employer come to a mutually bargained agreement, which results in you earning generational type wealth in a handful of years, rather than using your college degree and earning a tiny fraction of what you would earn playing ball, then yes, the deal was "fair" to you. Players declare for the NFL draft, meaning THEY CHOOSE to enter the system.

So no more trades then either? This is a collectively bargained aspect of sports. The PLAYERS signed off on the deal, because they know a healthy league with 32 financially viable teams is best for the largest number of guys. It also is something the players agree to in order to get the owners to share a larger % of revenues. Draft goes away=% of revenues players get goes down significantly. Plus, there's only so many spots on the Bills and Chiefs rosters. Florio will always see the cloud in the silver lining. Last year he didn't want the draft to happen, training camp to happen, the season to happen, and he latches onto endlessly covers any negative story about the NFL.

I think it's likely that behind closed doors Pegula agreed to waive his claims to Toronto in exchange for a clean break with the MLSE/Rogers group. The powers that be in Toronto want to be in the big boy league, which is the NFL. Now that it's clear they won't get the Bills they will focus on expansion or moving another team there. And next time around they won't need to find a "97 rocker" who will promise to move to Tonawanda full time and buy a canal boat as a PR stunt. They will be able to just be open about their intentions, which 100% always were buying the Bills upon Mr. Wilson's passing and moving them to Toronto. And really, if it weren't for Pegula, who nobody had ever heard of when the original Toronto deal was signed, it would have happened. Nobody else was a serious bidder at $1 billion +. Their plan was crystal clear: say whatever you need to until the ink is dry and money changes hands. Then "economic realities" and "changing circumstances" magically happen. IMO, it's also not totally insane to say that the Bills recent success and the emerging superstar QB status of Josh Allen have done a lot to solidify the team here. With the level of fan passion, seats selling like crazy, and attention on the Bills, there won't be a window to make a case about moving the team for the next generation, and in that time there will be a new/totally refurbished stadium and a 30 year lease.

That's what doesn't make sense. They would be hard pressed to break even overall in any trade, unless they are willing to drop WAY down the board, and even then, a first from a good team would be the compensation.

If he makes sense to draft at 35, I would take him at 30. You also get the extra year under contract.
