  1. By putting it out there that the Lions and Stafford are going to part ways, they decreased his value in a trade. If I'm another team's GM I know he isn't going back there, so that reduced my offer. Same. Best case scenario you end up with a QB as good as Watson in a year or two. You're almost certainly not going to improve at QB, so why bother? Now, Watt is a different story. I would trade him to recoup some picks.
  2. I think the NFL should consider an NHL style buyout that each team could use to cancel 1 contract in terms of cap ramifications this offseason, especially since the cap is going to all of a sudden dip unexpectedly. Many teams are stuck with contracts that they cannot get rid of, and nobody could have planned for the cap to go down at all, let alone by a significant amount. You buyout the player's contract, thereby immediately making him a free agent. To do so, you pay him a lump sum that is some % of his remaining deal. None of that lump sum counts against your cap, and his contract comes off your cap with no penalty. This has to be done in March of this year, let's say. That's the only window, and it's a 1-time pandemic related measure. Players get paid, teams can get out from under crazy contracts that were signed in a pre-COVID era, and GMs don't have to cut half their team because getting rid of a Matt Ryan contract, for example, would carry so much dead cap that they could barely field a team. Also, it must be a player currently on your squad. No doing this to wipe dead cap from previous cuts. And no team has to do it; it's just an option.
  3. This is going to surprise some people. Tampa lives on the big turnover setting them up for an easy score. They don't consistently drive the ball.
  4. Tampa has not had to consistently drive the ball in either of the past 2 games. The Saints gave them a free TD and Green Bay gave them 2. Neither of those 2 teams were good enough to overcome that. Tampa's strategy has been very NE-eque: get an early lead, hang around, and wait for you to beat yourself. It worked vs the Saints and especially vs the Packers. The NFL Title Game went from a 4 point TB lead at half (no big deal) to 18 points in about 1 minute of play, both due to colossal blunders by Green Bay more than anything else. Tampa is going to put everything into getting their best shots in early to build a lead. If Tampa doesn't have a lead by halftime this will be a blowout win for KC. If they do, it will be a close win for KC with some drama, where a timely penalty flag by the refs could bail Brady out. Simply put, if KC plays its A game this won't be close.
  5. Some things in life are just easy: 1) Patriots bad 2) Brady bad NOW, what happens next season when the 2 teams play each other (NE and TB)? I won't know how I feel until I sit down to watch that game.
  6. I hope both have been bulking up and watching Tom Brady highlight montages and internalizing the rage they cause.
  7. Patriots fans want Tampa to win. Whatever they want I want the opposite.
  8. It was the lights in KC... I noticed that they made the Bills white uniforms look weird, like an overly harsh led lamp. It also made the KC uniforms a darker, almost vintage looking, muted shade of red. That's what you were seeing, I think. Their stadium lights are harsh.
  9. Agreed on Manning over Rodgers. Peyton Manning went to 4 super Bowls,2 with each of his teams, and won 1 with each. Odd symmetry to his career. Yes, he was 2-2, but as Brady has shown, you've got to get to the Super Bowl to win it. Rodgers is stuck in the conference title game. You think Brady will stick around to congratulate Mahomes on winning back to back Super Bowls?
  10. KC is way better than they were last year. They are to the "regular season is boring" phase now. KC is going to be a problem for quite a while. We have a long, long way to go. But this season was an amazing ride!
  11. The best way to put pressure on the opposing QB is to go out and score 35+ points. All of a sudden you can just cut your very talented DL loose, send a blitz here and there, and the opposing offense needs to be perfect. Dropping a pass, taking a sack, fumbling... all death sentences, or at least it feels like it, because once they punt you awkwardly trot out and in 3 plays it's 7 more points. If you're playing with the mentality of needing lots of TDs you are going to press all game. That helps a fast, aggressive defense do its work.
  12. I wasn't that upset, because as much as it sucked to see, the Chiefs are other worldly. The Super bowl won't even be close. Enjoy watching Brady get crushed! Yup. #1 and #4 were there for the taking. The Cowboys fully expected to lose in #4 (for the Bills) because Aikman was so concussed he didn't know the plays. But by then the team was so tight, waiting for the crushing mistake. The pressure was enormous to win. That's what makes the chiefs even more dangerous. there's no "yeah, but" anymore. A super team like that that is tight and also confident and plays loose is pretty close to unbeatable.
  13. Yeah, KC is way ahead on the lines and even on defense overall. Their defense is fast, hits hard, and always harasses the QB. They are going to curb stomp the Bucs. the game won't be close.
  14. I'll just come out and say it: Tampa has gotten lucky 2 weeks in a row. They are not consistently driving the ball. Teams are gift-wrapping them TDs and giving them short fields. You saw what happened when they need to press: Brady threw a pick on 3 consecutive drives. Tampa has put a lot into getting up early then sticking around and waiting for the timely fumble or pass interference call. Washington just wasn't a playoff team, but the Saints and Packers gave them those games with turnovers and poor coaching. Without a whole lot of effort, I can come up with an 18 point swing for Green Bay Here's 14 free points for Tampa: 1. the play right before halftime 2. the fumble right after haftime by the Packers to set TB right up around the 10 Here's 4 fewer point than Green Bay should have had: Rogers doesn't run in the easy 3rd down TD Green Bay really should have won that game going away, but they just plain blew it. LeFleur cost his team 3 times: 1. Doing nothing with one of Brady's picks. 3 and out 2. Doing nothing with another one of Brady's picks. 3 and out again. 3. Not going for it down 8 at the end. Worst case scenario you miss and TB takes over on their own 8. Pettine's defense came up with 3 consecutive picks and you got 6 points, Lefleur. With the supposed MVP. At home.
  15. Rodgers career has been wasted in Green Bay by poor coaching and a lack of talent. When GB went for that FG instead of the TD at the end of the game yesterday you knew it was over. If you don't make it TB gets the ball at their 8, maybe closer to the goal line depending on the outcome of the play. Gutless coaching. the MVP with the ball in his hand with a play to tie the game, and they say "nah we'll kick the FG and play defense"
  16. 60. Trey Smith OG Tennessee 61. Aaron Banks OG Notre Dame 77. Kenneth Gainwell RB Memphis 98. Tedarrell Slaton DT Florida 147. Malcolm Koonce EDGE Buffalo 160. Quinton Bohana DT Kentucky 190. Tre Brown CB Oklahoma 201. Tariq Thompson S San Diego State
  17. overall, I agree: more speed BUT I am hoping for at least 1 gigantic, angry man to play DL or OL You also cannot coach size
  18. I'm also not for becoming a running team by any means, but it would be nice to have a real threat for short yardage plays.
  19. Oliver is the reason I love big, sloppy DTs with a mean streak. You cannot coach or teach God-given massive bulk. Oliver is a high effort guy but he is just plain too small.
  20. 1. Spend a high pick on a top RB prospect, if there is a guy there still at 30. 2. Bulk up the OL with some maulers in mid to late rounds. Draft some of these guys: (all info from Walter Football) Aaron Banks, G, Notre Dame Height: 6-5. Weight: 330. Projected 40 Time: 5.33. Projected Round (2021): 2-4. Chasen Hines*, G, LSU Height: 6-3. Weight: 349. Projected 40 Time: 5.49. Projected Round (2021): 2-4. Michal Menet, C, Penn State Height: 6-4. Weight: 302. Projected 40 Time: 5.24. Projected Round (2021): 3-5. Trey Smith, OT/G, Tennessee Height: 6-6. Weight: 320. Projected 40 Time: 5.32. Projected Round (2021): 2-3. Travis Etienne, RB, Clemson Height: 5-10. Weight: 200. Projected 40 Time: 4.46. Projected Round (2021): 1-2. Najee Harris, RB, Alabama Height: 6-2. Weight: 230. Projected 40 Time: 4.53. Projected Round (2021): 1-2. Javonte Williams, RB, North Carolina Height: 5-10. Weight: 220. Projected 40 Time: 4.53. Projected Round (2021): 2-4. Larry Rountree III, RB, Missouri Height: 5-10. Weight: 210. Projected 40 Time: 4.5. Projected Round (2021): 3-5.
  21. my #1 wish! 6'5, 343... get him into some Buffalo area establishments and he could bulk up a bit to 360ish. Him and Star next to each other at DT is a nice start. Wait a second... THIS is my guy at DT! Quinton Bohanna, DT, Kentucky Height: 6-4. Weight: 367. Projected 40 Time: 5.66. Projected Round (2021): 4-6. From Walter Football.... Slayton and Bohanna at DT together? A guy can dream, right?
  22. I think the draft was pretty productive, aside from the lack of big dudes on the OL/DL Hopefully this year they bulk up the DL
  23. Tampa has not consistently had to drive the ball down the field. Both NO and GB gift wrapped him a free TD. If KC doesn't turn it over and if they score the way they can Tampa will not be able to keep up. Brady is tossing air mail balls right to safeties.
  24. We need a wrecker on the DL. Hughes is a good player, but we need someone who gets home. KC had 3 guys getting in seemingly every other play. We're missing a Bruce and a Thurman.
  25. White wasn't "a problem" any more than Karl Malone was a "problem" against Jordan. Elite talents, and sometimes you just get beat.
