Week 13 - 49ers at Bills Game Week Thread
TheFunPolice replied to BillsFan619's topic in The Stadium Wall
On the topic of leaves, I ask permission from all of my neighbors to come and collect all of their leaves (as long as they don't have dogs) to use in my gardens. I suck them up with the rider and bagger. So far everyone has been happy to share, enthusiastic even! 100% the BEST thing you can do for your soil. But be careful not to include dog manure. Cat or dog manure is no good for gardens. One guy was like "what the heck, why can't you come get mine too, you get everyone else's!" so I had to explain, and he understood. On the topic of the game, we are going to roll the 9ers. They are injured, old, and have no QB. CMC is falling apart for good this time (anything Achilles is no good) and the Bills are in the middle of a movie right now that has a happy ending. I'm talking small town, gazebo, christmas lights, the whole 9 yards. Have the tissues ready for mid February this year because there's going to be a lot of happy tears! -
Ravens or Chargers tonight? Consider the playoffs
TheFunPolice replied to Billyhouseman's topic in The Stadium Wall
Getting the Ravens a 5th loss would be ideal, so go Chargers! If we play the Chargers it'll be here in the cold and snow, and they don't worry me as much as the Ravens. That said, both are tough teams. -
TNF should become Saturday Night Football OR Tuesday Night Football and just the last game of the week or something. Playing on 3 days rest is insane.

LOL So true... I imagine being the player who has 5 possible assignments on this play depending upon what happens pre-snap, then 3 different options post snap but forgets to get out onto the field because he's running the scenarios through his head on the sidelines over and over

What happens is the Chiefs come here after losing 4-5 games in total this season. Then we play well and win and in the final minutes the entire stadium sings in unison about some chick undressing in a random dude's apartment while the snowflakes fall and the Chiefs 3 peat dream comes to an end. My God, it'll be beautiful!

Rex's defenses require an Ed Reed or Ray Lewis type player who can process it all and get everyone on the same page. His defenses are insanely complex. That's part of the problem. He's a bit of a mad scientist drawing up all sorts of lines all over the board with tons of "if this happens do ____, but if this other thing happens do _____"

Me too, HATE 1pm games. Kills the entire day, which matters more earlier in the season. 4PM games mean I can get all sorts of work/projects done outside before the game. When the weather is like today it's fine though!

I don't like it. Mostly because of the symbolism and history. I will say that I also cringe a bit when I hear chiefs fans doing the chant and the tomahawk chop.
-
For sure... It sounds so weird hearing 60,000+ people singing "She's touching his chest now, he takes off her dress now..." in unison at a football game But it seems to fire everyone up so whatever works!

It could very well happen. In the video I posted yesterday (1 hr+ long interview with Rex on a podcast) he said he has always wanted to continue coaching but never got a single phone call or interview. It was in response to one of the guys saying he was shocked Rex left coaching. He mentioned that he reached out to Dallas last offseason to be DC thinking that it would give him a loaded defensive roster and a way to become a HC again down the line.

Woody Johnson suggested benching Rodgers in September
TheFunPolice replied to Draconator's topic in The Stadium Wall
I thought the same, that he was happy being out of the grind. 47:45 (ish) is where Rex talks about wanting to get back into coaching... Interestingly, he also says he never wanted to be out of coaching but nobody ever called. -

He absolutely wants it. He's openly saying on the air that he wants the Jets job and would do it "in a second" -
turns out America likes watching Allen-Mahomes games

That sort of stuck with Manning too.. "Yeah, but he can't win the big one/can't beat Brady!" 4 SB appearances (2 with each team) 2-2 in the SB (1-1 with each team) Manning went to the SB with 4 different head coaches: Dungy, Caldwell, Fox, Kubiak 3-2 record against Brady in the playoffs Some (ignorant) people still say Peyton couldn't win the big ones though!" because Brady dominated the regular season matchups, especially early on. Getting to the SB with Jim Caldwell, John Fox and Gary Kubiak as your head coaches is a feat in and of itself. Dungy was a good one. But the other 3? When did they accomplish anything of note before or after as HC? Mahomes/Allen is similar in some ways, but also its own storyline, as all great rivalries will be. So far, Allen has owned the regular season matchups, whereas Mahomes has the playoff wins and the rings. -

Rex Ryan wants this job badly, to the point where he's basically openly campaigning for it now on the air. It might come down to who to hire: Option A: Rex, the guy who honestly had the most success of any Jets HC in recent memory (2 AFC Title Games) and obviously has a passion and desire for the job Option B: Some relatively unknown offensive assistant coach who will take any gig I forgot the part about Hackett... Kept him but stripped play calling duties That locker room must be full of headcases and bad vibes right now -

It's going to be EPIC! Hopefully we'll be healthy. It's a real bummer for them that Huchinson was injured
