  1. They were in the AFC and therefore in the way, as were the Ravens of course.
  2. Dallas won this trade. Said it when it happened and it'll pan out. For it to work in GB's favor, a bunch of things need to happen: 1. Parsons needs to stay healthy (already having some issues and he hasn't practiced or taken contact yet) 2. Parsons needs to make a huge impact on defense. (if he's banged up that could limit his snaps, availability, impact, or all 3) 3. Parsons needs to make a huge impact for multiple years. 4. Green Bay needs to overcome LaFleur's overrated coaching and system that feasts on the cupcake of a conference that is the NFC, then folds when they play one of the 3-4 good teams in the NFC come playoff time. 5. Jordan Love needs to be a top 5-6 QB to get the team where it needs to go and overcome LaFleur as well. Green Bay is a good team, no doubt. Last year when Love was injured they looked literally the exact same with the backup QB. They run the ball, run the ball some more, then run it some more. QB is called upon to make a few throws. Works against the bottom feeders that make up most of the NFC, but when it's show time the issue is not the defense but LaFleur's overrated system that gets exposed every time once they play another good team. I am no Lafleur fan as a HC, in case that wasn't clear. But one thing is for sure: no HC that I can remember has garnered more respect and "name" off of mediocre results than him. The guy had prime Aaron Rodgers for multiple years and ZERO to show for it. Nothing. Multiple MVP seasons from a HOF QB and not even a SB berth. The supposedly "overrated" Tomlin got his HOF level QB to 2 SBs and won 1, having to get past prime Peyton Manning, prime Tom Brady, and the Ravens defenses that got Baltimore to a SB win in that window as well. I just don't get the love for LaFleur as a HC. If he's great then Tomlin is top 5. Meanwhile, Jerry Jones now has a couple extra 1st round picks for the HC he'll hire next season when he can do the full search.
  3. Cowboys won this trade. Parsons is great, no doubt, but this trade and contract are too much investment for a DE. Plus, the Packers waste talent and have an overrated coach. Sorry, but Lafleur's teams feast on the cupcake conference that is the NFC then get exposed by one of the 2-3 good teams in the conference once the playoffs arrive. Same story every single year. The Packers had 2 long HOF QB careers and have 3 SB appearances and 2 titles to show for it. That's Big Ben's career in Pittsburgh. And that was having to get by prime Manning, prime Brady and the Pats* dynasty, and the Ravens teams with Ray Lewis and Ed Reed. And the Steelers got there 3 times running that gauntlet. And we're told that coach (who was the HC for 2 of those 3 SBs) is overrated. Then what the heck is LaFleur? LaFleur had Rodgers for many of the best years of Aaron's career. Zero titles. Zero SB appearances. Nothing. Now Jordan Love is an all-time great QB according to Packers fans. Enjoy the show! I for one cannot stand the Packers and look forward to the meltdown that will happen when (not if) they fail to reach expectations like always.
  4. "not season ending" and "hopefully he can play week 1" feel like different vibes.
  5. do practice squad players get Super Bowl rings too?
  6. just awesome! Marv is sharp as ever and seems to be living his best life. He's ready for the SB winning party too!
  7. he's back! I do love #97! Line him up next to Walker and let's roll
  8. In other words, we're a few weeks away from him signing with Dallas and hearing about how Dallas is home, Cowboys are where he always wanted to be, etc.
  9. I was kind of shocked they didn't draft Cooper DeJean He seemed like a McDermott type player through and through.
  10. I wish someone in the media would ask coach McDermott whether preseason really matters anyway (worded better than that, but that gist). NFL coaches obsess over every detail of every day, so the idea that all the practices, all the film sessions, and the games where young guys trying to make the team have the chance to step up "doesn't matter because it's preseason" would probably send him on a rant/tirade. It matters where you park your car. How you walk into the facility. The temperature of the coffee at 4AM when you show up. The song you listen to on the way in to work. The number of leaves in the lettuce in your salad. And so on.... I wouldn't be shocked if an NFL HC counted the number of ice cubes in the ice bath for optimal efficiency.
  11. I really wish this was like Madden where there's a bunch of 82-84 OVR DBs always ready to sign... it always felt like cheating but hey
  12. Wow! I had this memory in my head of him being amazing in the playoffs. I guess it was based on the KC game. Wow! I had this memory in my head of him being amazing in the playoffs. I guess it was based on the KC game.
  13. Gabe is what we all want: another guy who shows up for the playoffs. It's like he has a superpower where he becomes unstoppable, but only in January (and hopefully February too).
  14. I read on here that preseason doesn't matter, so someone ought to clue coach McDermott in on that ASAP before he makes an emotional roster decision.
  15. I cannot stand Lafleur or his ridiculous dodgeball team.
  16. I get that they aren't scheming up exotic gameplans, but guys are just getting beat out there, and that's the main issue. We don't really care, and Bosa (big yawn on the sidelines which we can all relate to) doesn't care but the guys on the field are getting to live the dream and are trying to make every rep count to build their career as NFL players. You drop a ball as a WR it might be the only opportunity you get that game for a number of reasons totally unrelated to dropping the ball. Maybe you get subbed out. Maybe you were only going to get a few drives and the ball only came your way once. And you dropped it. You don't think that matters to that player? Just listen to McDermott after the game. He was disappointed and expected more from the guys out there, even hinting that they might have to see who is out there to sign.
  17. I get "it's preseason" but I also think some on here underestimate how competitive these guys are. They fight at training camp practices because tempers run hot. They want to crush each other at Fortnite, table tennis, basketball, golf, checkers... These high profile athletes (backups or not) are simply not wired to suit up, go onto the football field in front of thousands of people plus those watching on TV and allow themselves to be embarrassed, pushed around, and pancaked "because it's just preseason" and "we're just backups anyway." A lot of these guys are trying to make the team, trying to put good things on film in case they are cut loose in a couple weeks. This is their career. If players don't screw around and dog it because "it's just practice" then why would they do so in a game? So I think there are concerns, such as getting little pressure from the DL. This is a continuing theme. So is the coverage. With Allen we can score enough points and put enough pressure on the other team that we win games. But what we saw is more of the same. None of this means the team won't look much different in the regular season, obviously. But you'd like to see some signs of life from the DL especially. Or WRs not dropping passes. Or DBs not getting abused out there.
  18. Joey.. Watch that jaw on the yawn!
  19. Moore has made a couple of mistakes that I've seen. Shavers looks promising!
  20. This game is practice so they do care. There's a reason these guys are 2nd and 3rd teamers
  21. The first one is the hardest especially for a Bills team with all the history of their own plus the 4 SB losses, etc Once they get one I think they'll get 1-2 more. Maybe Allen goes 2-1 in Super Bowls by the end In that scenario it's a bummer not to go 3-0 but having 1 or maybe 2 in the bank changes it dramatically.
  22. We'll get there and win. This QB and this team is way too good not to. If The Bengals OL could have held up for another second in their SB Burrow Zach Taylor and freaking Mike Brown would have SB rings because the WR was wide open for a game winning TD
  23. awesome news! They paid the man!
  24. Hard to say... I would imagine it would be tough for him, but then again, if he DID go the CEO route he could go down as one of the all time greats if he gets Allen's entire career plus a few years after. It could be sold to him, I think. Many legendary coaches aren't thought of by many as being from one side of the ball. John Madden: he was just a football coach. Vince Lombardi: also a football coach That's a high bar, but say he goes CEO route here, hire a Fangio type whose defense works in big moments in today's game, and wins 2-3 Super Bowls and coaches here for 20 years. His name would be up there with those guys when it's all said and done. And people will remember most the flashy QB, big games, and say McDermott was just a great football coach.
  25. agreed 100%! This is why, if things don't go well for the defense yet again when it matters, I am in favor of McDermott transitioning to CEO type of HC and going and getting the best DC there is and letting that guy run his system here, just like Brady does on offense. That way you get all of the best of McDermott while the defensive system hopefully gets upgraded to something that can stop the top offenses using as much of the current talent as possible. Pete Carroll's background is defense but he isn't really thought of by many as a "defensive HC." Who ever talks about "Pete Carroll's defenses"? Build a great team and let McDermott lead it. But let the coordinators do the Xs and Os and build their own schemes.
