  1. We'll get some calls when we're up 10 points vs the Panthers or Jets when it doesn't matter
  2. Why didn't Williams just throw his hands up and beg for the flag there instead? We need some big WRs that can go get the ball
  3. A lot of NFL coaches fail at being NFL head coaches also... Urban Meyer was such an absolute disaster... talk about destroying your legacy.
  4. I think the "college coaches can't succeed in the NFL" thing is overblown a bit. The biggest difference is that many top college coaches aren't actually that good at coaching; they just have a lopsided talent advantage that gives them a "big name" in the sport. Give Dick Jauron a Pro Bowl roster comprised of the best AFC and NFC talent put together and he's going to rack up a lot of wins vs the Lions, Giants, Jaguars of the league, especially if he gets to have a hand in crafting his schedule to his advantage. The he plays the Bucs and loses and "just can't seem to win the big one" but his record is still really good and everyone pumps him up as a top guy. That said, there are many really good college coaches who would succeed in the NFL. Ball is ball. People are people. Of course there are differences, but we're not splitting the atom here; it's football and working with people. Chip Kelly was 26-21 in Philly in 3 years, which is a winning record. SF was a disaster when he went there. That was hopeless for anyone. Chip's issue was wanting to control everything the way you can in college, but he did pretty well I think as an NFL HC in Philly outside of the personal relationships (which of course are a big part of the job). Nick Saban had a lot of NFL experience as a member of Belichick's staff in Cleveland, so he knew the game. He had no QB, which makes NFL football no fun. I think if he had a passion for NFL coaching he could do it and be very successful. Why would he, though? He's a celebrity on campus, always wins, and gets the best players. Jimmy Johnson was a ball coach. The guy knows football AND knows how to work with people. A lot of times these big name college coaches lack one or the other of those skills, because on campus you're a legend and your word is the word of God in some of these places. It's your players who you recruited who are there because they idolize you and will do whatever you say. AND you have a huge talent advantage most weeks.
  5. Defensive holding is one thing... If I'm a crooked ref who dreams of seeing Brady win another super Bowl, I'm saving my flag for a deep pass late in the game. You could literally throw DPI on 99% of deep passes and worst case scenario there would be a debate but it's so subjective... Did his arm bar the WR? Did he tug a little on the jersey? Did he get there a quarter second before the ball? Did the feet get tangled? Did the DB not look back for the ball soon enough? Was there "too much" contact? It's so easy. I watched a Tampa DB literally climb up a Colts WR to intercept the ball long before it got there and there was no call.
  6. The worst part of this is the bakery... As a huge fan of Brady, he should be drinking cactus juice and eating pumpkinseeds if he's hungry.
  7. I just want to see them need 2 airplanes to fly our free agent class in for the presser due to the weight and size of the linemen. My dream would be a 6'7 400 pound DT. I'd settle for 350, though if he's willing to put in the work in the dining room.
  8. Bills put a pretty good beating on him on Sunday and he started to miss passes because of it. Brady even mentioned on the MNF pregame on the radio that he took some pretty good shots against the Bills. So there is that I suppose.
  9. NFC is very top heavy. Bucs, Rams, and Packers are the true contenders IMO. Maybe Cowboys. I don't buy the Cardinals as a real threat. AFC I wouldn't call cupcake at all; in fact, most of the good young QBs are in the AFC. NFC 6th and 7th seeds for the playoffs are total jokes. AFC has a lot more good young teams.
  10. Allen is going to play. Too much on the line. but I hope they protect him with playcalling
  11. with a 17 game season (and maybe 18 going forward) career records will all be broken. But rings nobody can take away. That's the bummer.
  12. Amazing that Thurman didn't have more than that in 11 seasons. Allen could hold the record in a few years.
  13. True... That was pretty weak holding call and of course comes at a critical moment
  14. As bad as the refs were in Tampa we were inside the 10 down 3 points inside of 30 seconds to win. Better play calls and execution there wins the game. Fades are low % plays that are a waste of a down
  15. It's amazing how a team can get the onside kick and then do zero from there. Ravens did the same thing yesterday.
  16. I'm not convinced we can't get to the Super Bowl. The AFC is a jumble. Titans and NE are the top seeds, along with Ravens. Imagine this 3 game road: Titans Ravens KC. That doesn't sound impossible.
  17. 100% There is going to be a narrative on Allen because so many were so down on him at the draft and they just can't admit they were wrong
