  1. It actually makes some sense given what we saw and what McDermott said. These types of "magical comebacks" don't happen without the other team screwing something up. And we're just watching on TV. Can you imagine being on that sideline in that type of moment? The emotions, the energy, the noise! Allen throws that TD and that game is OVER! Bills players going nuts, Chiefs players on the bench looking like they know they're done. Chiefs fans heading for the exits. We take for granted that every single player is 100% dialed in and thinking through the ins and outs of a play when it seems like they just won the game. There are still NFL players that don't know games can end in ties, obviously not this one but just as an example. Not every player is an Ed Reed or Peyton Manning type. Yeah, there's 13 seconds but we JUST WON THE GAME BABY! Just a couple incomplete passes here and we're hosting the AFC Title Game! Sure, don't screw this up, like that's going to happen.... Keeping your cool and communicating the plan in an environment like that is probably not easy. All it takes is 1 thing in the chain of command/communication to break down. Guys need to focus like never before. There is NO WAY that I think McDermott would say "let Hill catch the ball wide open without a guy within 10 yards of him and run wild and we'll just tackle him whenever we catch up to him (if we do)." No freaking way.
  2. I don't know... locking up with the tackle and letting him ride you 10 yards past the QB every play isn't helpful?
  3. Choking is when you don't play the way you are capable of playing. Rodgers is a perennial choker, who plays amazing all season then vanishes in the playoffs. He scored 10 points at home with the #1 seed. Zero urgency. Zero passion. Zero heart. Close to zero results. The Bills (and especially Allen) did not choke. Maybe the defense, that I would entertain. Their performance was very Rodgers-like (#1 rank and vanished when it mattered). There's getting beat when you go down swinging (Allen) then there's getting beat and you didn't even show up (Rodgers every year and the defense in the 13 seconds). Hill and Kelce caught the ball and weren't touched for 20 yards. Cover them. If they beat you they beat you. But the D didn't even play defense.
  4. If I'm building a team in 2022 I just build the offense from here, try to score 40 points a game and hope my D can force a punt or two a game. Although I would sign a pass rusher in free agency who is proven. NOW is the time for a Mario Williams type deal.
  5. I could see Bass trying to drop that kickoff inside the 10, so that the Chiefs returner really can't just go right down to save clock, or they start at like the 5 or 7 yard line, which is game over even with the 2 play KC made. If he returns it to the 20 or so 4-5 seconds are going to come off the clock and it's 1st and 10 at the 20-25 with 7-8 seconds left. At that point KC is not getting into FG range in time. I think that was the plan, but Bass was a bit too amped up and hit it a touch too hard, sending it into the end zone. If the returner busts off a long return, even to the 50, there's going to be like 3-4 seconds left.
  6. leave it as it is... It sucks for us right now but it's a bad idea to change a rule based on one incredibly historic game. IF they make any change, allow each team a possession no matter what.
  7. People will say numbers, and percentages and rankings (like our #1 defense that couldn't do anything most of the night) but our pass rush stinks. When is the last time our pass rush made a play in a big moment? I'm not talking about "they get pressure" or PFF rankings or DVOA or whatever other acronym. I mean QB on the ground for a sack on a big 3rd down, or a QB hit that makes him miss a pass or throw up a prayer in a critical moment of the game, or a strip sack fumble that ends the game. Hughes used to be that guy. He made a lot of big time plays for us, albeit back then the games didn't mean much. Now every one of his pass rushes looks the same: he runs upfield, locked up with the tackle being bent backwards and gets there 2 seconds too late. I want Rams affecting Brady type pass rush. Actual hits. Actual sacks even! Bucs get a big play and then next play Miller strip sacks Brady and its Rams ball. Of course then the inexplicable bad snap happens to obscure that play, but you know what I mean. We need IMPACT plays from the DL, not "pressure rate" stats or fancy rankings. On a big 3rd down, beat your man and go wreck the play. 13 seconds to go to the AFC Title Game... Imagine having a guy who could have beaten the OL and got in there to either mess the throw up or force Mahomes to move off his spot and waste time even?
  8. The OT rule is fine. Play defense. College rule isn't even real football. It's just dumb. Some of these ideas that are being proposed, while creative, change the game too much. It doesn't feel like pro football.
  9. Without Brady involved, it's anyone's game. He gets in team's heads and feels 0 pressure because he's done it all and this is just gravy. Going forward, we'll have as good a chance as anyone.
  10. That dude was luck Diggs got to him before an OL did... He was a few steps away from the OL
  11. Being the OC for a great QB and great offense is the fastest way to a HC job. Look at some of these guys getting interviews for the jobs open now... Some spent like 5 minutes with a great QB and all of a sudden they're interviewing for HC positions! We would have the pick of OC talent
  12. That's why Wilson especially leaving Seattle for an AFC team because he wants to win multiple Super Bowls makes no sense... You have to get to Super Bowls to win them and in the NFC it's a much clearer path
  13. Belichick would straight up have his guys tackle the WR and take the 5 yard penalty and kill the clock, and everyone would be going insane.
  14. Daboll did a great job IMO and the success of Allen on a huge stage means he is going to be a HC this week.
  15. Add a proven DE in free agency. Find a super fast RB to go with Singletary. Draft a disgustingly enormous DT
  16. Allen is better than Marino.
  17. Andy Reid is an all time great HC. Yet for most of his career people said the exact same things about him as are being said about McD
  18. If you are really good you'll have a bunch of chances, and eventually you'll break through
  19. Having a QB this good... It's almost inevitable that he is going to win a Superbowl here
  20. Yes please! Every team thinks the same thing about their team, except maybe Patriots fans
  21. I think we overrate our defense. Which defensive player on our roster scares anyone?
  22. We'll have pick of the crop for coordinators if Frazier and Daboll get HC jobs
  23. This is the same thing people said about Andy Reid
  24. Young DL are looking okay, but they tend to take time to develop. We need to sign proven pass rushers this off-season and let Hughes go.
  25. We basically played ourselves tonight. These 2 teams are so similar.
