Brian Flores suing NFL, NY Giants, Dolphins, Broncos.
TheFunPolice replied to BillsFan4's topic in The Stadium Wall
Plus Flores himself basically insinuates that Daboll was willing to be his OC... So how exactly would Flores comply with the Rooney Rule for his OC opening in a way that wasn't a sham, to use his words? There's no crime in the Giants hiring the OC of the Bills, who helped develop Josh Allen and called 2 consecutive games this season against Belichick where the offense scored on every drive and didn't punt once. -

So Flores was willing to circumvent the Rooney Rule when it suited him, because he knew a guy from NE. -

2 GM jobs went to men of color this cycle, which is encouraging on this front. You don't see that really mentioned though. I would have liked to see Leftwich get the Jax job and Caldwell get another chance as well. Maybe they still will. There's a lot of really good candidates like Ryans, Leftwich, Staley, Glenn, Graham that might need just a bit more experience but could be the next generation of young HC But as many have mentioned, almost all defensive coaches when the league seems to want 25 year old assistant WR coaches who spent 5 minutes with Sean Mcvay -

How many if us here "knew" Daboll was going to the Giants once Schoen was hired as GM? -
Love the idea! What OL coach wouldn't want to work on a top SB contender? Let's hire the best OL guy out there to develop all the young guys we have on the OL!

The thing is, lots of negative stuff about Flores came out all season long, way before his firing. You can just Google and read things from weeks to months ago about the dysfunction on his staff. I don't claim to know the inner workings but it seems to me that Flores passed over a number of qualified coaches to hire who he wanted. Apparently his intentions were pure, making him unique I suppose. It could also be that he's a bit of a head case. Time will tell. -

And he LOVES negative stories about the NFL. Maybe Flores is telling the truth, and his own hiring practices and treatment of players was due to what he thought was best Here's a question for Flores: how many co- offensive coordinators are there in the NFL? I wonder how Studesville felt about being essentially told he didn't deserve a shot to truly run an offense? Easy to question others but when it came time to decide who to stake his career to Flores didn't seem overly concerned about diversity in his staff. Now we're supposed to say how brave he is? No brave would be to take a stand and hire a black OC and DC. Prove a point. There's tons of highly qualified guys. And God knows he chewed through staff so he made plenty of hires. So what gives? -

How could Flores know who he wanted for his OC without complying with the Rooney Rule and giving everyone a fair shake? -

In other words, Flores was going to go into a HC position with an OC he wanted (Daboll) yet he would have to conduct some "sham interviews" of his own since the Rooney Rule applies to coordinators as well. Maybe Flores is just a guy who creates friction and drama -

So, if I'm reading this right Flores says that Daboll was willing to come be his OC in a lateral move? -

What if a team was awarded a first round pick for hiring a GM or HC of color, and a second for a DC or OC? Would that change the balance of these decisions? -

Sometimes, people are just impossible to get along with and have real issues working with others. Many of these allegations read like dirty laundry that is impossible to prove. -

So now all of these people will need to defend their reputations and names... Suddenly Leslie Frazier is going to be called out. Was your interview with NJ a sham in your view? Elway: Are you really a drunk racist? Brady: You met with the Dolphins while under contract with NE? McD: Are you really a total tool who nobody likes? Schoen: Are you really a racist? Giants owners have a very good reputation in league circles. That won't go over well. -

Keep in mind: Flores needs to prove his claims. The accused don't have to prove anything. But they will strike back and poke holes in everything he says. He's dragging a lot of people into this mess with him, which (ironically) goes to support the point Ross made about him not being able to get along with people in the building and therefore needing to be let go. McDermott: so now he is driving away coaches? what's the point of that assertion about Daboll, exactly? McD stayed with the Bills because of his race, while Flores was fired from the Dolphins because of his, when they both are impossible to get along with? That's amateur hour lawyering, if so. Different teams, different management, just for starters. It's not a 1:1 situation. Schoen: So now his character is being called into question, as he is essentially being called a racist only 2 weeks into his new job. Belichick: His senior moment text is now going to drag him in. How did Bill have any inside knowledge? So the ex Bills executive told Bill who he was going to hire? Bill can just say he heard the reports that Daboll was the favorite for the job like we all did. Were any of us shocked when he went to NJ? Aren't there "sindiers" reporting on this stuff day and night? Bill can just say he was going on news reports and then there is ZERO proof that the Giants interview process was a sham. Also, having a lead candidate (if that's what happened) but casting a wide net and interviewing a larger group, but then ultimately coming back to that same lead candidate in the end is not a sham at all. Happens all the time and it's completely defensible. What if your lead person turns you down? You need to be able to quickly pivot, thus going through the process. Elway: so he is a drunk who is also a racist and totally unprofessional. Nice. Ross: Ross said Flores had issues getting along with people. Does any of this make him seem wrong? -

Flores is dragging a lot of people into this and airing a lot of dirty laundry and personal communications. No bueno for his career going forward. -

This is going to get very, very ugly. You know Florio is in heaven with this news. Anything bad for the league he revels in. How is it illegal to lose on purpose? Could be argued that it's strategic, because the purpose is a huge gain in the draft ad therefore a greater chance of winning big in the future. -

What was the knock on Flores in Miami? He didn't handle people well. Duly noted. Belichick congratulated him for getting a job then goes "OOPS! I thought you were Brian Daboll!" Elway and another Broncos executive come staggering into an interview over an hour late hungover. Dolphins owner offers 100K bonus per loss to tank the season IF he bent any of that in any way it just reinforces that he has some serious issues with professional relationships. His punishment? Coaching the Texans. -
It was interesting listening to McKenzie's show where he discussed the 13 seconds... Just the way he talked about McDermott. A lot of stuff like "whatever he says goes" and just the tone like McD speaks and you listen was the vibe I got. I know that's how it actually is when it comes to coaches, but it seemed like he was saying something without saying it, if you know what I mean. It was in the context of him saying the players have no idea what happened on the kickoff or why that defense was called in those 13 seconds. He sort of implied that it wasn't their business. McD makes the calls and that's that. He was very critical of it though, saying "oh with that defense that's how" about how KC got right down the field. But that could just be McKenzie being a bit bitter about not being used more in the offense and having been benched for a fumble. I wondered especially early in the season if something wasn't quite right with the team but figured I was worrying about something that wasn't real. But IMO there's a disconnect going on. Why are talented guys getting buried on the bench? Boetger and especially Bates were better than the guys they were backing up. McKenzie comes in and shows he can make huge plays on offense in the 2nd NE game. Singletary's but was nailed to the bench until late in the season, and it quickly became clear he is by far our best RB once he actually got a chance to play. This stuff happens, but it seems to happen a lot this season.

LMFAO Tom Brady made Bon Jovi a better songwriter and singer? Just about every one of his "greatest hits" come from the 1980's and 1990's. This is the same guy who tried to convince people that he was going to move to Tonawanda full-time and run the Bills if the guys from Toronto whose dream it was to move an NFL team to Toronto bought the team for him. He NEVER had any intention of moving the team, nor did the guys from Toronto whose dream it was to have a Toronto NFL team! LOL OK, Bon.

Last night Burrow brought up "the play where you (meaning Brady because he was speaking as a guest on Brady's podcast) got lit up by that DB from Buffalo" and Brady immediately said "Nate Clements" It was kind of cool that even Burrow remembered the play and felt like "hey, I want to be like that guy!"

Bills ability to draft and develop D linemen
TheFunPolice replied to Comebackkid's topic in The Stadium Wall
I wonder though... Is there talent here that is being underutilized? Our OL was bad all season, then Bates, a guy who has been here for a while, steps in and plays very well. Boettger was also doing well once he finally got a shot before getting hurt. The best guys were not playing for whatever reason. So part of me wonders if there is talent being buried on the bench. -
Rattlesnakes would be a great name for a team, and could add an intimidating vibe... Logo is a rattlesnake head open with fangs ready to bite... color scheme brown, black and white Sound effects of rattlesnake rattles during games... Just put the IDEA of a rattlesnake in players' minds. Guarantee someone is freaked out by it. I would be looking under the bench for one, even though it's an NFL stadium and there's obviously not rattlesnakes there... or are there?!

With Brady, it got to the point where he was so into other teams' heads that they screwed up against him in ways they wouldn't normally. The mystique was part of his game, especially later on. I was listening to the Let's Go! podcast last night (just to see what he would say) and he had Joe Burrow on as a guest. Burrow answered "yes sir" to him at least once and also mentioned watching Brady's games when he was in middle school and wanting to play like that some day. The aura and mystique clearly helped Brady. You could be up 21-3 and it feels like you're still behind, because you're just waiting for disaster to strike. And when you go looking for disaster, lo and behold you find it.

Commanders sounds dumb, then again to me the Houston Texans sounded dumb as well but now I'm used to it. Was there no bird, snake, or mammal available? Washington Pit Vipers would have been more appropriate and could lend itself to a cool logo.
