  1. This is a really cool story! Former player, tough, fun to watch, played with heart and passion for the Jags. Now returns as HC. He's a great person, and I hope he does well there!
  2. Exactly! There was basically ZERO pressure or resistance. We let them complete 2 passes without even challenging them.
  3. Chris Jones, Frank Clark and Melvin Ingram are all better than anyone we have on the DL. They actually get sacks and affect the QB in ways you can see without a spreadsheet, calculator, and fancy "advanced stats"
  4. As a lifelong resident of this state it's depressing and heartbreaking to see so many once thriving and vibrant communities totally hollowed out and crumbling. That's all over NY too, not just WNY. I've been in every part of the state, and most of it is abandoned factories, closed businesses, crappy roads... It's like a cliche scene from a movie where a guy goes back to his hometown and you see his memories of ice cream stands open, people walking around, and life, and then it flashes to the present and the Scoop and Sprinkle is closed down, windows boarded up and garbage blowing around on the busted up sidewalk. BUT NY has some amazing communities and so many advantages... If gov't in Albany could get its act together things could be different
  5. "I'm sorry guys, there appears to be some sort of seismic tremor, or earthquake going on here..." (sigh of relief) "Nevermind, that's just the new Bills DT (fill in name of enormous angry man here)" I want a huge, mean spirited, ultra competitive DT. Preferably one who can't stand Brady. Why Brady? Makes the next part easier. Make him watch Man in the Arena episodes prior to big games.
  6. Because it wasn't true. #1 and #4 were the ones. That fumble in #4 in the second half was the killer.
  7. Allen is at least equal to Mahomes, and I think McDermott is a very good coach. A very good coach with a superstar QB is eventually going to win it all.
  8. Yeah, Manning "couldn't get past Brady" except he beat Brady in the AFC Title game 3 out of 4 times and went to 4 Super Bowls, winning 2. If you are great (and Allen is great) you're going to win a Super Bowl eventually.
  9. For those criticizing McDermott, I say a little perspective is needed. He's a great young coach, who has created a strong culture here. AND if you get to a lot of playoff games, you'll have a lot of chances. Good coaches and good players are going to win eventually. Andy Reid, the loveable guy who "just couldn't win the big games" has a look at this: Coaching in his 4th Super Bowl, with 1 title already Coaching in his 3rd Super Bowl in a row, something only Schula, Levy and Belichick have done Moving from #5 to #4 in all-time HC wins in the next 1.5 seasons Moving from #4 to #3 in all-time HC wins if he coaches another 6-7 years (he's only 63 now) Possibly even move to #2 all-time behind only Belichick or Schula, depending on how long Bill coaches If Bill retires in a year or two, there is a decent chance that Reid ends up with more wins all-time as a HC. What does this have to do with McDermott? People were saying the exact same things some are saying now about McD: he can only take you so far, etc. No. You find a very good coach (and McD is a very good coach IMO) and you keep him. There are so many bad HC in the NFL. Keep building the program, and a guy who takes you to the playoffs year after year is eventually going to bust through. Unless it's Aaron Rodgers (sorry I couldn't resist)
  10. Not even close. Let's not forget... EVERY huge comeback requires the other team to screw up immensely. Rams/Tampa game: 27-3. Rams fumble 4 times and missed a FG. One fumble was at the 1 yard line. Worst case scenario that's 3 points. Make the FG you missed and that's 3 more points. Even with the 3 other fumbles and other assorted *****ery all staying the same Tampa never has a chance no matter what they do. For Tom Brady (and it was ALL BRADY!) to tie that game when it was 27-3, these things had to ALL happen: Akers fumbles at the 1 right before half so the lead isn't bigger Kupp fumbles in 2nd half to set Tampa right up to score Akers fumbles in 2nd half to set Tampa right up to score Center snaps the ball 20 feet over Stafford's head THE PLAY AFTER Brady is strip sacked to set the Rams right up in scoring position to ice the game. If ANY 1 of those things does not happen the Rams win by 7+ and probably 10+ It took 4 incredibly self-destructive plays by the Rams to set Brady (AND IT WAS ALL BRADY MAGIC!) up to tie the game. Either way, they made the play at the end to seal it. Let's not forget: SO DID THE FALCONS! Brady gets to within 8 late in the Super Bowl and Matty Ice hits a strike to Julio Jones who makes a huge catch all the way down to the NE 20 (ish). You're inside of 3 minutes, around the NE 20, with an already 8 point lead. THE GAME WAS OVER. Only (ONLY) a tremendously dumb and unlikely series of events by the Falcons botched that. They pass (dumb) and it's incomplete. HOLDING CALL on a run (ehh, refs were going to do their part so I'm not going to go crazy there) SACK (absolutely box full of rocks STUPID to take that sack or even call a pass there). And they don't get to try the FG, which would have given the Falcons an 11 point lead with 2 minutes to go. EVERY "Magic" comeback requires the other team helping by being dumb.
  11. New England fans would've done it after the Falcons SB but $283 is a bit steep I guess $28.30 would have worked.
  12. How cool is it that fans get digs in by supporting other cities' charitable foundations with certain dollar amounts? Hey, I'm going to rub our win in a bit by buying your grandmother a new lawnmower! A rider! Then I'm getting your kid a new bike. TAKE THAT! I think this stuff is great... it's all in good fun, and it helps people in the end.
  13. McDermott is an excellent coach. Frazier is OK. Daboll (IMO) is very, very good. When it comes to Dorsey, the last thing he would want I would think is to be the next Bienemy, where so much effort is put into "KC is really Eric's offense, Andy Reid is just the guy who decides when to call timeouts." Please. Just please. Like Ne England isn't Belichick's defense either...
  14. Chances are almost 100% that Chiefs are going to try to get into FG range, not a TD. So you play normal defense there. Maybe 1 safety way back. The big play is really the first one with 13 seconds left. They are going to try to get around 20 yards. Even if they want to throw a hail mary the next play, they are going to want 20-25 yards the first play to set it up. They aren't going deep on play #1. Way too risky and then they're basically screwed if it doesn't work being 75 yards away with like 7 seconds left. So you play it like it's 4th and 20. Don't let them get an easy one there. If they go over the top and somehow beat you then they beat you. It's way, way, high risk for them. Like I said, one thing goes wrong for them there and it's 2nd and 10 at their own 25 with 6-7 seconds left. Then what? You stop them on 1st down with 13 seconds and you win the game. We played like it was 4th and 20 and we were fine with them picking it up.
  15. Dorsey could be a hot name for HC next year if he's OC here. But you also never know... maybe he and Daboll are close. Either way, ANY OC would want this job working with Allen! You're instantly a genius.
  16. It actually makes some sense given what we saw and what McDermott said. These types of "magical comebacks" don't happen without the other team screwing something up. And we're just watching on TV. Can you imagine being on that sideline in that type of moment? The emotions, the energy, the noise! Allen throws that TD and that game is OVER! Bills players going nuts, Chiefs players on the bench looking like they know they're done. Chiefs fans heading for the exits. We take for granted that every single player is 100% dialed in and thinking through the ins and outs of a play when it seems like they just won the game. There are still NFL players that don't know games can end in ties, obviously not this one but just as an example. Not every player is an Ed Reed or Peyton Manning type. Yeah, there's 13 seconds but we JUST WON THE GAME BABY! Just a couple incomplete passes here and we're hosting the AFC Title Game! Sure, don't screw this up, like that's going to happen.... Keeping your cool and communicating the plan in an environment like that is probably not easy. All it takes is 1 thing in the chain of command/communication to break down. Guys need to focus like never before. There is NO WAY that I think McDermott would say "let Hill catch the ball wide open without a guy within 10 yards of him and run wild and we'll just tackle him whenever we catch up to him (if we do)." No freaking way.
  17. I don't know... locking up with the tackle and letting him ride you 10 yards past the QB every play isn't helpful?
  18. Choking is when you don't play the way you are capable of playing. Rodgers is a perennial choker, who plays amazing all season then vanishes in the playoffs. He scored 10 points at home with the #1 seed. Zero urgency. Zero passion. Zero heart. Close to zero results. The Bills (and especially Allen) did not choke. Maybe the defense, that I would entertain. Their performance was very Rodgers-like (#1 rank and vanished when it mattered). There's getting beat when you go down swinging (Allen) then there's getting beat and you didn't even show up (Rodgers every year and the defense in the 13 seconds). Hill and Kelce caught the ball and weren't touched for 20 yards. Cover them. If they beat you they beat you. But the D didn't even play defense.
  19. If I'm building a team in 2022 I just build the offense from here, try to score 40 points a game and hope my D can force a punt or two a game. Although I would sign a pass rusher in free agency who is proven. NOW is the time for a Mario Williams type deal.
  20. I could see Bass trying to drop that kickoff inside the 10, so that the Chiefs returner really can't just go right down to save clock, or they start at like the 5 or 7 yard line, which is game over even with the 2 play KC made. If he returns it to the 20 or so 4-5 seconds are going to come off the clock and it's 1st and 10 at the 20-25 with 7-8 seconds left. At that point KC is not getting into FG range in time. I think that was the plan, but Bass was a bit too amped up and hit it a touch too hard, sending it into the end zone. If the returner busts off a long return, even to the 50, there's going to be like 3-4 seconds left.
  21. leave it as it is... It sucks for us right now but it's a bad idea to change a rule based on one incredibly historic game. IF they make any change, allow each team a possession no matter what.
  22. People will say numbers, and percentages and rankings (like our #1 defense that couldn't do anything most of the night) but our pass rush stinks. When is the last time our pass rush made a play in a big moment? I'm not talking about "they get pressure" or PFF rankings or DVOA or whatever other acronym. I mean QB on the ground for a sack on a big 3rd down, or a QB hit that makes him miss a pass or throw up a prayer in a critical moment of the game, or a strip sack fumble that ends the game. Hughes used to be that guy. He made a lot of big time plays for us, albeit back then the games didn't mean much. Now every one of his pass rushes looks the same: he runs upfield, locked up with the tackle being bent backwards and gets there 2 seconds too late. I want Rams affecting Brady type pass rush. Actual hits. Actual sacks even! Bucs get a big play and then next play Miller strip sacks Brady and its Rams ball. Of course then the inexplicable bad snap happens to obscure that play, but you know what I mean. We need IMPACT plays from the DL, not "pressure rate" stats or fancy rankings. On a big 3rd down, beat your man and go wreck the play. 13 seconds to go to the AFC Title Game... Imagine having a guy who could have beaten the OL and got in there to either mess the throw up or force Mahomes to move off his spot and waste time even?
  23. The OT rule is fine. Play defense. College rule isn't even real football. It's just dumb. Some of these ideas that are being proposed, while creative, change the game too much. It doesn't feel like pro football.
  24. Without Brady involved, it's anyone's game. He gets in team's heads and feels 0 pressure because he's done it all and this is just gravy. Going forward, we'll have as good a chance as anyone.
