NFLN Saturday Colts@Vikings Game Thread 12-17-2022

Just checked the score... What's going on in this game?! -
of course Mike White wants to play... this is his shot to either keep the starting job or put enough on tape that another team trades for him

Looks like that fine wine turned to vinegar tonight

Save 30 seconds of game clock?

Too much McCaffrey... The guy has a certain amount of snaps the something breaks

Week 15: Dolphins at Bills on Saturday Night Football
TheFunPolice replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall
Thank you! I really don't get why this is so hard for some people to understand. The Browns game was not moved because of snow on the field and not having a dome. It was moved because the entire neighborhood around the stadium was buried under 5 feet of snow, roads were impassable, and there was an active travel ban. -

the game isn't going to be moved every time there is snow in the forecast... for crying out loud -

now every time it snows we have the "I hope they don't move the game" discussion? -
I agree that OBJ is in a bit of a tight spot here. On the one hand, teams will be worried about the knee and hesitant to sign him for big $$ this offseason if they don't see first that he can still be a force. On the other hand, if the knee pops again he's done. It sucks for the player, because he was on his way to a possible Super Bowl MVP type performance when the knee went out and let the Bengals back into the game. But with the ACL tearing 2 years in a row and him getting up there a little in years teams are going to be cautious.

"I actually got the ball that time" referring to Thanksgiving.... then the "you were the scapegoat for not stopping Taylor" comment from the host about the Colts game as they were rehashing last season... Seems like there's a "I'm the victim" vibe, although I do still like McKenzie. Can't blame a competitor for being frustrated for not (in his mind) getting a chance to contribute

I don't feel the same inevitability with the Chiefs as with NE. They have flaws on defense and their system (as great as it is) is prone to someone drawing up a great defensive game plan and forcing their defense to win/save games. Rings aside, which are as much a team accomplishment as an individual, I am one who still says Manning was a better QB than Brady. Brady had better defenses and an all-time great HC. Manning had soft defenses and aside from a few years with Dungy, mediocre to poor coaches. Patriots were the "unsexy team" who won dirty, dug deep into the playbook (and rule book), cheated when necessary, but would claw, scratch, bite or cheat their way to wins. Colts were the flashy "nobody can stop this team!" offense that once it hit bad weather and top defenses had issues, and couldn't rely on running the ball or playing defense. Most telling is when the Patriots and Brady became the super-charged Colts-like team, they lost TWICE to Eli Manning and the Giants.

BROCK PURDY: for real or fools gold ?
TheFunPolice replied to Italian Bills's topic in The Stadium Wall
not sure how great he is, but he might be as good as Jimmy G, which is all they need. Don't turn it over and make a few throws. I see the guy taking some serious shots though already, and I worry he won't last. He's already nicked up with an oblique injury. Obviously I love his game this past week! -
here's my "deep down" thought: Mahomes, as great as he is, underperforms in the biggest games (AFC Title and SB) As great a run as he has had, including FOUR AFC Title games in a ROW at home, he has 1 ring, and it required just tossing Tua style prayers up in the 4th quarter until finally one was answered. If Jimmy G hits a wide open WR in the 4th quarter then SF wins that SB and Mahomes "can't win the big one" with an 0-2 record in the SB and a 2-2 record in conference title games with the table set for him as a heavy favorite. My OTHER "deep down" thing I predict/think is that Allen will end up winning more SBs than Mahomes, while Mahomes will accumulate stats, MVPs, awards, accolades. Allen will win ugly. Allen can play when things get dirty. Maybe he's at his best then. Mahomes not so much. I predict more appearances for Mahomes, more wins for Allen. Allen: 2-0 in the Super Bowl Mahomes: 1-3 in the Super Bowl That's my "deep down" feeling about Mahomes and Allen

Updated Beasley signing to practice squad
TheFunPolice replied to Niagara Dude's topic in The Stadium Wall
everyone saying we should draft a 1st round WR better prepare for the guy's ass to be nailed to that bench all year so that Kumerow can get snaps on offense. He can keep Cook company! -
man... the Saints truly cost us a chance for a stress free playoffs, although other NFC South teams would actually have to win games too! I was playing around a bit with the playoff machine, and I had a couple of scenarios where both the Panthers and Falcons got in. Now THAT would blow everyone's' minds!

Updated Beasley signing to practice squad
TheFunPolice replied to Niagara Dude's topic in The Stadium Wall
for people wondering about his time in Tampa this year, I follow a lot of Tampa forums/blogs (mostly after losses like Sundays, for pure enjoyment value) and there has been talk all season of major issues on that team. Coaches vs players, players vs players, lots of nasty stuff. Something is off there. If not for the Rams and Saints blowing leads in epic fashion, that team is 4-9 right now. Bowles saying something to the effect of "we (coaches) can't care more than the players, we're not on the field" after the SF game says a lot, I think. Sure, he followed up with "we're to blame too" but that was a telling remark from a guy who is pretty much a dial tone in terms of things to say. Beasley probably hated being there and had no particular connection to the players or team. Walked into a toxic locker room with incompetent coaches and a QB who demands total control and does whatever he feels like and decided worshipping Brady on a crappy team (that will still go the Super Bowl because of course) wasn't worth it. Just my speculation.
