I think there are major issues between players and McDermott and until he is gone we're just spinning our wheels. I'm fine with giving him the rest of the season because aside from Leslie Frazier there's nobody "on staff" that I would want to take over on an interim basis. But he needs to go, barring some miracle turnaround. The team peaked at 13 seconds and has gotten worse every year since. Now the wheels are falling off and eventually players are going to start talking, even if it's "anonymous sources" type stuff. McDermott is done here, the only question is how much time we waste between now and a new voice in the locker room as HC. What's the plan? Draft defense with all of our top picks again and "run it back" to another early playoff exit in 2024 that buys McDermott another couple years to waste Allen's career and poison the locker room?

McDermott is done now, it's just a matter of how much of Josh Allen's prime years we will waste before it's made official. McDermott is never winning a Superbowl here, let alone getting to one.

The new stadium might be the saving grace. Cannot open that building with a mess of a team that people aren't excited about or a broken franchise QB who might even try to force his way out

He worked like a crazy person in the off-season to improve early in his career. I was surprised to hear him say that and assumed he was just exaggerating

They'll double down with McDermott and the roster of broken down expensive defenders and spend their top picks on defense and run it back in 24. New OC probably. Maybe a free agent WR who will never play

Tonight's "we scored too quickly" comment from McD fits my theory. He wants a slow, ball control offense. Of course he wants points. Every boring coach wants points. Coaches like McD want a high school offense that runs simple draw plays all day and scores 63 points doing it, which doesn't happen in the NFL.

I suppose that's true He did seem to say what he honestly felt: It's basically the players' fault.

Is Elam really that bad? Are the best DL getting the most time? The way this coaching staff seems to be crumbling makes me question those decisions.

McDermott's calling card is attention to detail and discipline. Without that what does he give you? He's now throwing players under the bus post game. Not coaching but execution.

What does McDermott bring to the table at this point? The team is an undisciplined mess. He chokes in the big moments. We can find a DC. For all we know he's not getting 100% out of the 71 1st round picks on defense. I'm literally shocked because I thought there was just no way we lose tonight.
