  1. Are you gellin’? Cause I’m gellin’.
  2. My boss is (was) a diehard Skins fan. About three years ago he finally gave up. Doesn't watch the NFL until the playoffs and won't watch the Skins until Snyder is gone. I don't think he's alone.
  3. That is correct. Fitz was never more Fitzy than that day, throwing three 4th quarter picks to seal the deal.
  4. Really well reasoned post. At pick #9 you're looking for an immediate impact player and I don't see the fit with Hock either. I'll be shocked if it's not D.
  5. I know 45-year-olds who don't look that rough. The phrase "rode hard and put up wet" comes to mind.
  6. You're presuming that everything is so literal, as if the GM walks into the HC's office says "we're tanking, but do the best you can with the crap I give you." It's not that "in your face." It happens more infrequently in the NFL than it does in other professional leagues, presumably because NFL owners seem to be impatient and think they should be able to fix everything quickly. If we want to be intellectually honest, however, the Bills have really engaged in a two year tank. McDermott and Beane walked into a situation that was untenable -- no franchise QB on the roster, several bad contracts, and a culture of losing. They began a systematic dismantling and rebuilding of the organization -- otherwise known as a tank. McD coached the team to the best of his ability and they tried to win but McD knew, Beane knew, and the Pegulas knew what the plan was. Making the playoffs in 2017 was more of a testament to how you can get a group of men working together than any evidence of a talented football team. We all knew they weren't good. Last year was the one that really hurt -- all of the dead cap, signing stopgap free agents -- but they drafted their QB, MLB, and gave them both a full year of coaching and playing time while they took their medicine. If the Bills turn it around this year you can bet it's an example of a successful tank.
  7. Players and coaches never intend to tank. Front offices do.
  8. Only Marvin Lewis can save this POS.
  9. I've mentioned this in other threads, but it appears that Buffalo really knew what they were doing last year. They knew it was a "lost" season with all of the dead cap and they took the opportunity to draft a "raw" and rare talent like Edmunds and get him a full year of NFL coaching and game speed. He's still super young, but now, in a season in which the Bills are looking to take a big step forward, he will hit the ground running.
  10. Did you know he went to Harvard, and that he wears his wedding ring while playing?
  11. One year deal. There's very little to not like about the way they are bringing in competition for the OL.
  12. Who are the Colts saving all that money for?
  13. Ok so looks like he had the issue in '15, but then not again until last year. Fingers crossed.
  14. How many concussions has Morse had? Is this a recurring issue?
  15. Glad the committee got this one right. I know I'm biased, but there's a really decent chance we'll see Carolina-Dook IV in the final. Which I would hate, by the way -- it would either be the greatest victory or most painful defeat of all time...
  16. A 6 seed means top 24 so not too bad...hard to put UB ahead of any of the 5s. Texas Tech is a tough 2nd round matchup because of great D but they're not world beaters. Gotta love the chance for a first round matchup with Arizona State/Hurley. You know the committee chuckled at that one.
  17. Nah, you're oversimplifying it. Need and talent work in conjunction with one another in the draft. What exactly has Beane been "dishonest" about?
  18. Good luck today, Cuse fans...I think you're safe but ya never know.
  19. I think Kentucky's loss put the Heels back on the #1 line. ACC should get three #1 seeds.
  20. This morning's Bracketology (Joe Lunardi) has them as a 6. I think they deserve a 5 or even 4 but it doesn't look like that will happen.
  21. There's nothing at all wrong with bringing in a 2-time SB winning player who was coached by one of the best OL coaches in the game to provide competition and depth. Nothing at all.
  22. I think you are looking at things in an overly simplistic way. 2018 was widely viewed as one of those "generational" QB drafts. The Bills needed a QB. They determined at what draft position they could select a QB they felt matched the value of the pick. Beane made it happen. They then saw another player they viewed as top 15 talent -- Edmunds -- who also happened to fill a position of need. Talent and need aren't viewed in a vacuum. It's more nuanced than that. And the Bills going into that draft were so talent-poor at a number of positions that every pick was by definition filling a "need." Let's look at this year. Now that Beane has addressed numerous holes in the roster during FA (OL, WR) he has the freedom to look at that #9 pick and select a player without worrying whether he fills a specific "need." Where the need analysis comes in is if there are two players available when it's time for the Bills to draft upon whom they have placed similar "talent" grades. Then, depending upon the relative importance of the position, you pick the guy who fills a need.
  23. Hey, we all know they need to show something on the field before we can claim success. But the bottom line is a lot needed to change. Unless an individual lineman's ranking is either very good or very bad, I will posit that line play is largely based upon the chemistry of the unit as a whole and the coaching they receive. Without question the most important addition is Morse. He is a proven C whose presence should pay immediate dividends for the entire line. I like all of the competition added at G and T, and I don't for a moment assume the Bills are done (i.e., draft). I think it would be a mistake to use these PFF "grades" -- numbers derived from Joe Schmoes sitting at home reviewing game tape -- as evidence of anything truly significant when it comes to overall OL play, unless it's clear a player is either very good or very bad, as noted above.
