John Warrow’s High Praise For Beane & McDermott Regime

Peterman reminds me of the Iron Born. "What is dead will never die." -
If you've heard Dykstra on Howard Stern you know the guy is batshit crazy.

If McD is afraid of star players with egos can anyone explain Shady to me? Why didn't he jettison McCoy? If your answer is that the Bills "bought" Shady's buy-in to McD's culture I call b.s. -
Stopped buying jerseys a number of years ago. Got rid of everything except my white Reed (bought in '90) and my blue Thurman ('94). But I love the enthusiasm!

The old boys network in the NFL is embarrassing. It's unbelievable this clown would ever be given any responsibilities (and a paycheck) for an NFL team.

Delusional, but hilarious. -
Probably LeSean McCoy's Last Year With Bills
eball replied to Halloween Land's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yeah, but they're not going to move Shady based upon a rookie looking good in preseason. I don't think folks appreciate that McD really wants the veteran combo of Shady/Gore in this backfield, this season. -

Nobody is trading for Shady. I think he has one or two years left in Buffalo. -
Beane never said team-building comes from "just" the draft -- he said it is crucial to draft well and then keep guys you have developed as a means of sustaining long term success. "Re-signing your own" also includes FAs who have come in and proven their worth. Many of the FAs brought in this offseason were signed to "prove it" contracts -- if they in fact prove it then "re-signing your own" includes extending FAs who deserve it. As of June 19, 2019, Tre White may be the only player you see as "deserving" of an extension but there are lots of players on the current roster (draftees and FAs alike) who may also show they deserve a new contract or extension after this season. This offseason Beane had to use FA to fill holes. Moving forward I see Beane using FA the way good organizations do...rarely signing a "flashy" player but bringing in depth or the player who appears to be on the cusp of breaking out.

You say creative, I say delusional. We now have the "players with options won't listen to coaches" explanation despite nearly every player who has come through the system praising McD and what he is trying to accomplish. It is comical. Some people will go to extreme lengths to support their dislike of a player or coach (or GM). When the Bills are more than competitive this season there will be a lot of faces covered in egg yolk around here. -

It's like I said above; the Bills didn't sign Star to replace the player Dareus could be. They overpaid a bit for a guy they knew who fit the culture and was expected to be a solid contributor. -
Division Power Rankings: AFC East comes in last
eball replied to freddyjj's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It's pretty difficult to put the AFC East in front of any other division, top to bottom, at this point, based upon recent history. Every other division in the AFC has at least two legitimate playoff contenders (Houston/Indy/Jax, KC/LAC, Pitt/Cle/Balt) while the East has two teams fighting for respectability (Buf/NYJ) and one clearly in rebuild mode. It's possible Miami will have the worst record in the league this season. -

This is pretty good stuff. Those who complain about Star don't seem to understand that Star was never intended to replace the player Dareus could have been, and wasn't paid that way. His contract is not absurd, it's a little high. And it doesn't hamstring the Bills from doing anything else they want to do. -
Melvin Ingram lays down Super Bowl guarantee

You bet your ass it would. But he’s apparently off limits for the wonderful job he has done walking into a talented roster with a borderline HOF QB. -

The Chargers may have the most talented roster in the AFC. They are absolutely contenders. I’m still disgusted by how poorly they were prepared for the Pats*** in the playoffs. One of the worst playoff performances in recent memory. Is that on Lynn? -
Yep, they're doing the minimal required until the contract is done. Since I don't live up there it doesn't matter to me either way, but I completely understand wanting to keep camp in Orchard Park given what they've done to enhance the facilities there.

Josh Allen: Film Review From a Cynical Man
eball replied to Mikie2times's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I appreciate the intent and effort of the OP but unfortunately threads like this merely devolve into arguments and insults by people who feel the need to "be right." We'll find out whether Josh Allen is the QB we all want him to be soon enough. Some fans are optimistic, some are not. -

There are certain posters on this forum who have never acknowledged their takes were wrong on any issue. And I assure you none of them are batting 1.000. The pseudo-anonymity of a forum like this unfortunately brings out the worst in some people. -
Buffalo Bills mandatory minicamp June 11-13.

I'm putting this out here, not just for you, but for everyone "worrying" that Josh might not tear it up in training camp: Perspective -

And I doubt they will. The defense is going to be ahead of the offense all summer and there will be much consternation on this board. I'm looking at the bigger picture; namely, that practicing against the Bills' very good defense will provide Josh with the preparation he needs, so that when the regular season hits he and the offense will be "ready." I think we're going to see a good bit of struggles from the offense early on; the key will be not to overreact and to allow all of these new pieces to gel. -
I like your optimism, Montoya. Even better, it is grounded in a good bit of factual reasoning rather than just "we should be great!" I believe the defense will be significantly ahead of the offense the entire summer. I predict much hand-wringing during training camp about how Josh is not "lighting it up" but the truth is that the Bills' defense is very good. By the time the regular season hits, my hope is that the offense has been "sharpened" by practicing against their own defense and as a result, Josh will be prepared for whatever an opponent throws at him.

The "professionals" miss on their evaluations of QBs all the time. Believe me, I do understand the perspective that Buffalo needed a franchise QB when McD was hired -- I myself wondered if they might draft Watson or Mahomes -- but neither guy was a "can't miss" prospect. Instead of criticizing McD in hindsight for not selecting one of those guys, how about congratulating KC and Houston for seeing something others didn't? Again -- this "debate" is about differing opinions concerning how McD (and then Beane) chose to go about breaking down and then building up the Bills. Many see the success of Mahomes and Watson and say "could have, should have" while others see the overall roster building and aren't playing the 20/20 hindsight game. They are two different approaches and I, for one, am not going to sit back and bemoan every TD pass Mahomes throws and complain that "he should've been a Bill." I truly hope Allen becomes the QB we all deserve so this can be put to rest.
