  1. Bill, you're still one of these guys pounding the table that McDermott makes the draft picks. It's ludicrous. The Bills drafted players who had leadership roles on their college teams. You don't think that translates into the pros? I used to just chuckle about your outbursts over taking 1st round cornerbacks, but now the crusade against McD is really too much. Let's just agree we both hope the Bills win a lot of football games and leave it at that. Neither of us can control how they build the team.
  2. Did you listen to Carter's introductory press conference? 3-year captain at Duke. Bill, you have an axe to grind over McDermott so it's hard take much of what you say seriously.
  3. The Worthy talk is such a loser mentality, and media saying teams “shouldn’t do business” with their rivals is hogwash. BEANE DIDN’T WANT WORTHY. If KC wanted him that badly they would have gotten him anyway, as the OP suggests. Who friggin’ cares?
  4. Could not disagree more. Gone are aging/expensive players on the downsides of their careers. The lone exception was Gabe Davis — who was clearly not a difference-maker for this team. Spots are opening for young talent to emerge. Young guys who got off to great starts and are poised to get even better (Bernard/Kincaid/Cook) are now leading the way. This draft brings a lot of energy and, yes, leadership, to an established franchise that needed something new after just getting to the doorstep for the past four years. How anyone can say that takes them farther away from a Super Bowl is beyond me.
  5. Every NFL team wants ball control. Enough with the crusade.
  6. This is such an immature comment. I don’t know where to start, junior, but I’ll try. The GM is responsible for acquiring players. The GM knows who the HC and coordinators are, and what type of players are best suited for their systems and the team culture. The GM then builds the roster using that knowledge, combined with the skill of the scouting staff. It would be dumb to simply “pick good players” (see: Doug Whaley) without considering how they fit into the offensive and defensive systems. Understand now?
  7. Penn State fan friend of mine said Hardy is a really good slot corner who didn’t get much press because PSU’s boundary corners have been so good. I’m thinking he will stick on this roster for that ability as well as possibly become our K/P returner.
  8. Nice breakdown. Note that the Bills can put Clayton on the PS and he won’t count against the limit because of the international player development program. I am rooting for Keaton Bills to make this team. It’s just serendipitous to think of a guy wearing “Bills” on the back of a Bills jersey.
  9. I feel like the Bills are really taking a gamble with this kid. I hope his nickname is Bo.
  10. I do believe the terms “reset” or “reload” are more appropriate than “rebuild.” The Bills don’t have to rebuild anything; they still have a very talented roster and the most important piece in place. I posted earlier this offseason, as players were being released and traded, that it made no sense to try and “run it back” again with the same guys who couldn’t get to the promised land. The injection of fresh young talent and a few veteran FAs was needed. We gave it our best shot with those guys and now it’s time to reset the standard with the next group. The Bills should still be the AFCE favorites because they have the best QB (sorry Aaron) and best coach. I don’t study the draft enough to have a strong opinion on anyone they selected; I’m good with trusting the guys paid to make those decisions because the Bills are obviously in good hands. I’m very excited to see all of the competition and new energy all of these young guys will bring to training camp. I’m not at all expecting this to be a “disappointing” or “wasted” season. Go Bills!
  11. The takes in this thread could fill a WGR morning drive… Good lord.
  12. This is the biggest sack of shite post I’ve ever seen. Get lost, dude.
  13. COMPLETE loser talk. If we don't trade they're finding another partner, and they gave Beane what he wanted.
  14. Sorry, you're right. We have four 5ths. My mistake.
  15. Beane gained 124 spots in draft position to give up 5. The Bills now have two 2nds, a 3rd, and four (!!!) 4ths. That’s a win. Who gives a @#$% what the Chefs do?
  16. My overly simplistic analysis of Beane’s moves is that he moved down 5 spots to pick up 124. Seems like a pretty good deal if he wasn’t sold on picking in the 1st round. If the Bills keep their picks we’re getting two in the 2nd, a 3rd, a 4th, and then four in the 5th. (edited to correct remaining picks)
  17. Congrats to the 36 of you who correctly predicted a move back!
  18. Dave beat me to it, but the truth is that Beane has never drafted a receiver higher than the 4th round so how can anyone say he can't evaluate them! That Shakir kid looks ok...
  19. Fans tend to be more "afraid" of giving up draft capital than good GMs. I think Beane strikes the right balance between being aggressive to go get the guy you believe in early, but then letting the later rounds come to him based upon his scouts and board.
  20. I'm sure they will sort that out once Lindy analyzes the roster and tells Adams what he needs...
  21. The “H-town” stuff is so NBA; don’t like it at all. I do like the red helmet and bull horn logo…
  22. This isn’t the 80s. You can have grit without needing to be a “fighting” team.
  23. No, they're not. They should have been in the playoffs this season; the roster is loaded with young talent and the farm system is excellent. They need structure, discipline, and the experienced leadership of someone who knows how to get them where they want to go. If you know Brindamour isn't leaving Carolina you are hard pressed to find a better hire for this team at this time...
  24. Interesting. I think the ONLY time it makes sense to make that kind of a move for a WR is if you already have a franchise QB...which of course the Bills do. You get the stud receiver "on the cheap" for at least three years...then rinse, wash, repeat. I think I'd be down with it.
  25. Vote for your prediction and explain why...let's see how many of us get it right.
