We have had head fakes before. Trentative and Fitz off to fast starts. JP deep balls. This time feels different to me. We looked like an organized, professional football club. 50 yards in penalties? Rex teams could have that in one drive. It seems the guys want to play for each other - the early stirrings of a real "team" approach. Time will tell, but it really feels to me like we are on the right track. I am sure there will be setbacks, but I like the direction we seem to be headed in. Team plays hard. Pretty amazing.

True on consistency, but in fairness - wasn't his last game before yesterday the Miami game where he also showed meaningful progress? If so, that is two in a row. Consistency starts someplace. I think solidifying RT will help his consistency a lot.

Undisputable: 1. Tyrod is a leader; 2. Tyrod is a hard-worker; 3. Tyrod generates points; and 4. Tyrod does not turn the ball over. Say what you will, he is either a top half starter or very close to it. Puts us in a tough spot in a way. Use all your draft capital on a new QB or build on what we have and role with TT. One could do a lot worse than Tyrod - and this team often has. No guarantee a pick is even an upgrade. Tough call, would be great to have an Aaron Rogers, of course. Would also really stink to have a first-round flameout that cost us something like our two 2018 #1s plus 2019's number 1.

Week 1 Game Balls vs. NYJ
MarlinTheMagician replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Poyer looked great. I was pleased to see Dawkins cave in the end on a long run by Shady. Gaines looked good. Clay looks healthy - has to hang on a little better. Whole team looked pretty good to me. Some better than others of course. Shady is HOF. -
Thought EJ Gaines looked good too. Is he okay?

Good win today.

Jets were pretty good. Defense is no worse than last year - their young safeties are a big upgrade over last year's DBs. I thought Bills played well. And I kept thinking this is a game we really needed. Open vs. a lesser opponent let's them come together as a team a little before a tougher test next week. Lots of folks on the field that had not played together before. I thought it looked quite promising. And it is not a given we lose to the Panthers by any means. They looked much more organized and professional than last year. No situations I recall where we had too many men, not enough men, players running it at the last second (saw that once) or the team not being set at the snap. Seemed like a professional football club. -
10 Reasons the Bills will be better (or worse)
MarlinTheMagician replied to BisonMan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Agree, really good analysis. Just don't agree the "WR Group" is worse than what was on the field last year. Sammy was never right, Woods (who I like) was just a guy most of the year -- seemed to be emerging by Bengals game and got hurt. The rest were poor. Seemed like we were throwing to street free agents and Glass much of the year. This group can be better. -
Bills or jets in first place?

Nice pick of Manziel. Game is for first place and we hold it until the results say otherwise. Game is not a gimme I fear. Can't wait until kickoff! -
Can this Bills D do what Chiefs' D did to Pats?
MarlinTheMagician replied to CanadianFan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yes, our defense could do the same. We may be able to get more pressure, probably can't cover as well. Make Brady prove he can still be accurate deep. He is in decline, that is not debatable (we all are, after all), just a question of how fast. -

Let's Go Buff-a-lo!!!! -
50 years this year. First game in Rockpile vs. Raiders in '67.

Bills beat Pats in Boston on Christmas Eve to take division. If they have that chance, I will be there. BTW - was there when they shut out the Pats last year. It was fantastic. Sure, they did not have Brady. But Pats fans were SO smug going in. ("Oh, you are a Bills fan? isn't that cute - didn't know those still existed. Well, we will go kind of easy with you without Brady today - but remember, we are 3-0. Bellichek is so smart it doesn't matter who plays QB, don't you know?) The place was 2/3rds empty by 3rd quarter.

Hopes vs Expectations for Tomorrow

Bills win 27-10. Dareus pulls a hamstring. Hughes drags a Jet around by the face mask out of bounds. -
Lorenzo Alexander: "Sean cut the fat."
MarlinTheMagician replied to Beast's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I would like to see Dareus get much fatter. I think he can carry the weight. We should get him hugely fat, like 500 pounds. That would be sooooo cool. Would freak out other teams completely. Who was the fattest Bill ever? I think it might have been Jerry "the condo" Craft. -
It is, however, uncommon for Brady to be in his 40's. At some point he won't be him anymore, why not not now! Pats shaky 10-6, Bills in playoffs, until proven otherwise. Kidding aside, I was shocked how inaccurate Brady was. And he did not look at all at ease with his wideouts. That will improve, of course, but he is going to miss Edelman all year and Amendola is sure to miss significant time over the season.

Go Bills! Playoffs! Hope springs eternal. Optimism with or without cause rules! Can't wait until kickoff! -
No need to tank in today's NFL. It is an absurd idea - even the "suck for Luck" drive has arguably been a failure (except in the getting Luck part). We are retooling, not tanking, and if the team over-performs a bit we could slip into the playoffs. And wasn't that Pats loss a beautiful thing to behold! I know we want Chiefs to lose every game, but I can't believe any true Bills fan could sit there and not be delighted while the Patsies lose at home on the night they were presented with their rings. Watching Brady get drilled while trying to play catch-up at the end was priceless. Like one of the Bills games only it was the Pats!

Bills "can't wait to unleash Tyrod Taylor"
MarlinTheMagician replied to HappyDays's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Taylor provides stability at the QB position. He does not turn the ball over. He may not win you a lot of games, but he won't lose many either. And because of his "unique attributes" (legs/deep ball), he puts up points. He does not look conventional in doing so and clearly has challenges as a passer. But we coudl be much, much worse off. The talking heads see him as "underrated." I would not be so quick to run him out of town, even if we pick one QB high. Number 1 pick QBs flame often. I will never understand why it is either (from the lovers) "one more year and he will develop and be our guy" or "he will never be a franchise quarterback and has to go." I don't know that either is true. Two years of evidence proves he is responsible with the ball and will get you some points. Like any position we should always be looking to upgrade. That doesn't mean a hard-working team player like Tyrod needs to go. if we had a decent defense either of the last two years we produced enough offense to make the playoffs.
