This is a lot to digest. Thanks for providing. I need to pick through it more carefully - but for now I have to go pray good guys fall to us! I am pleased a Rosen guy can find good in Allen, and respect the ability to be objective enough to do so!

I think this is misleading. Giants didn't "pass on him" any more than they passed on Darnold - they wanted Barkely. Same with Broncos - wanting Chubb is not passing Allen. Browns at 1 and Jets at 3 passed on Allen. However, Bills at 7, in addition to Browns and Jets, passed on Rosen who went 10. If the guy we didn't want went 10, it is reasonable for us to have believed the player our scouts liked better wouldn't last until 12. I think Allen should have went 1 or 2.

Eddie must be the "at least one teammate" that Beane said he checked in with about Josh's stupid tweets. Good to see this. Please delete Mr. Allen's Twitter account.

For those who have not watched it, go back and watch the Maycock interview. I don't know how anyone cannot be 100% behind the kid. Seems genuine, fully committed.

Nah, Cardinals got the D. We got the A+ - I like him and Darnold about the same. I think Allen will be better. Rosen will be out of the league before his second contract, IMHO

Totally agree. Aiming the ball? Weird delivery. Check out Allen on Youtube - short thing called Soul and Science or something. Dude throws the ball 74 miles an hour. A football! I was a decent high school pitcher, but I could not throw a freakin baseball that hard. A big difference in the two for me: They traded down and took EJ. They were settling because QB desperate. Here, they traded UP to get the guy they wanted over Josh Rosen. Whether he was "their man" or not (will never know if they had Baker or Arnold higher) - they made the move to get him. They wanted him; and they just didn't want Rosen. Respect.

Sunshine over cancer

Supposedly quite effective last year and still out there I believe (correct me if I am wrong). Allegedly has tremendous work ethic and is a leader. Was one helluva player. Still just 29, and comparatively low mileage due to tragic achilles. Love to see him in the middle between Edmunds and Milano. Get 'er done Beane!

His neck looked just tiny. We passed because he holds the ball and can't move which = concussions. Plus Allen has much, much better upside. Plus Rosen is a wanker. What more do fans need? Geez.

I remember Maycock saying that, in substance, at the time. "If I am going to take a chance" on any of these prospects and be wrong I want to be wrong with one that has a big arm. I remember the show. Was not exactly a ringing endorsement. But no, he did not say EJ sucked dangling donkey balls.

We are so lucky we dodged the Rosen hype. He holds the ball, can't move and is twice concussed. Plus he is a wanker. NFL lineman are going to literally beat the snot out of him and make him squeal.

I think McCarron is good. They should give him the year. That will show Dabol, Beane and McDermott the exact pieces we need in Dabol's offense. Between our cap space and not compromising our 2019 draft we will get all of them. Then let McCarron and Allen have at it in camp in 2019. If Allen wins you hand him the keys to a very, very nice automobile and he will have a much better idea how to drive it than he does today. McCarron could be really good. Trade bait next year if he is.

No one on the board should let the talking heads or their YouTube scouting skills fool them. We got the best QB in the draft save maybe Darnold. There are just as many pundits who hold that view as there are those that don't. So get on board. Plus, we basically used a free pick to get him in my view. We got the pick from KC and I would still prefer Tre White to Mahomes. So you start there with what I consider a free 21. Cordy was a salary dump that got us to 12. Sammy they were not going to sign (and the Rams proved us right). So instead of letting him walk with nothing as old admins would have done, we got a "free" 2 we put with the "free" 1 we got for taking Tre White over Mahomes. Really, Allen cost us a second round pick beyond things we got for players we were not going to keep. We can afford for him to fail and do it again - but I don't think he will. Kid is a worker and has overcome a lot, undeniable athleticism. And I think Rosen would be a nightmare.

Except Allen is a much better asset than Rosen and well worth not having the 53. If anybody gave me a board Rosen would be off it entirely. He has a concussion history and poor movement skills. He is thinly built. These three are enough, but I don't personally care for his attitude either. Allen has arm strength and movement skills Rosen can only dream of. Fix Allen's base and help him develop touch at different defensive levels and he will be miles ahead of any place Rosen can ever hope to get to.

Allen has a great throwing motion. Palmer says the base is fixed and that accounted for a lot of the accuracy issues. He has overcome long odds and is a worker. I think he will be great. The other criticism I have heard regarding accuracy is that he throws everything hard and does not drop it in over levels of the defense. Like MajBobby, I believe that kind of touch can be bought. His throwing motion is awesome. See the video on his release - .28 seconds. Comparable to Brady's. And while people are poo-pooing the big arm, it matters. Hand speed of 73.9 miles per hour. Sick. Taught, not bought. Auto-correct.

Seems like all his throws were to receivers 20 yards down field with zero separation. He was counted on to carry the show.

Kudos Chicken Boo. Mature and intelligent take. I wanted Allen, but I would have had the same reaction as you - Rosen has upside too and I would have been 100% in. Our guy is Allen so now we need to close ranks and quit the whining and carping. Kid is a worker and competitor - let's see what he does. Love that AJ is here to mentor him.
