I do not understand why our fan base so readily accepts that it may have taken rookie Josh a seven year journey for him to become the best version of himself, but has a hard time accepting that a rookie head coach undertakes his own journey, in this case the same seven years. I don't believe McDermott is the same coach every year. He should be and I expect is learning from some past errors while keeping what makes him an extremely talented coach.

Targets for Virgil, Shavers and Hamler
MarlinTheMagician replied to MarlinTheMagician's topic in The Stadium Wall
Nice numbers for Virgil, saw he ran as low as 4.37. But how about this for Shavers: “Shavers does not compare to anyone Alabama currently has on their roster. He is unique in stature and speed,” Luginbill wrote of the 6-foot-6, 202-pounder. During The Opening regional in Dallas, he recorded a 40-yard dash time of 4.38 seconds. And Hamler's fastest time is 4.27. None as fast as Keon Coleman of course! -
Targets for Virgil, Shavers and Hamler

Killjoys, the both of ya! Let's go boys! Love to see the depth develop. -
Would like to see a few today. Hope they play well. Getting them in the flow a little would be a nice insurance policy for later on. Shavers as Coleman, Hamler as Shakir or what they envisioned for Samuel.

It is all three, Josh, GM, Coach. McD takes so much heat, some deserved, but he is widely recognized as a top coach in the NFL and deservedly so. Despite some sketchy decisions and poor clock management, he created a culture of winning, making the players feel cared for and part of something, and providing a great fit with our GM. Ask the Jets how it is when GM and coach are not on the same page. Not good! We are very fortunate to have all three.

On Cook, I don't think it is foregone that he's gone. I think it is a question of price to pay vs cost to replace. Taking a 2d or 3rd rounder to complement Davis costs us a potential starter elsewhere, so if the price was right I could envision Beane cooking up a second contract. If the market is greater than the cost to replace in draft capital and salary slot as weighed by Beane, the Cook will have to take the show on the road.

Tre White Traded to Ravens For A 7th
MarlinTheMagician replied to iwishitwerecolder's topic in The Stadium Wall
According to studies (says AI) athletes that tear their achilles don't return to baseline performance until three years from an achilles tear. (if ever) There is statistically meaningful improvement in year 2, but recovery of performance typically takes three years. Tre will be 31 years at year 3, love to see him end his career a Bill as a depth player. Win a ring, live happily ever after. -
2023 Kincaid Torrence Dorian Williams And I think 2024 may be his best of these three drafts, too early to tell. We are loaded with young talent. Thank you Mr. Beane!

Shavers!

I am looking forward to the Bills lifetime franchise record to be above .500. I think it is 24 games under. Josh can make that up in 3-4 years. Would be unbelievable. But this year -- all good. We will be better in December too.

Week 8, Bills v. Seahawks, PREDICT THE SCORE!

Not one! But Jaydin Daniels has six! Braelon Allen and our boy Keon each have one, no others.

So why was Amari Cooper traded twice in his prime?
MarlinTheMagician replied to PoundingDog's topic in The Stadium Wall
If he performs well, I hope we sign him. I would much rather pay him $15 million than a top of the market guy $28 million. Draft another receiver at the top of the draft and let Coleman, Shakir and the rookie learn from Coop. When he is done, we are still set and Josh is like 31. Top of the draft meaning our first two rounds - not the entire draft. -
Kicker Lucas Havrisik signed to PS
MarlinTheMagician replied to HappyDays's topic in The Stadium Wall
Was looking at Spotrac and the Browns when we got Cooper. Here is a trade I would propose: Bass plus a (reasonable) pick that Cleveland will take; for Dustin Hopkins. Hopkins makes like $5 million, so trading Bass would reduce the cap hit. Cleveland can get him right or cut him - they are doing this deal for the pick. -
I have to admit, I am pleasantly surprised with Rapp. I saw him as a reckless, unguided missile last year. Davonte was even crying about that. This year - much more guided. Rooting for him.

I have never seen such unity on this board. Beautiful thing. Add my "no thank you" to the pile.

For those that remember or have heard it from their parents, Lofton was 33 years old when the Bills signed him, and he had a 1,000 yard receiving year when he was 35.

10/14/24 Game 6 GAMEDAY Bills at Jets MNF PREGAME THREAD
MarlinTheMagician replied to Chandler#81's topic in The Stadium Wall
Hamler would be fun - get some separation. Would we really miss not having MVD tonight? -
Samuel and Shakir not practicing Wednesday
MarlinTheMagician replied to JerseyBills's topic in The Stadium Wall
I do think our receiver group will be fine when healthy (Shakir makes them all better), but I would like to see Shavers and Hamler over Scantling and Hollins -- at least for a big enough sample of reps to see what they do. Hollins is at least a good blocker and special teamer, but Scantling -- ugh. -
We were spoiled for the last 6 years
MarlinTheMagician replied to DeepPass's topic in The Stadium Wall
Completely agree with the OP - the last six years have been a golden age for Bills fans. Would a Super Bowl be icing on the cake? Of course. But this roster is loaded with young talent, Josh is only 28, and the future could not be brighter. Plus, I think as it plays out the season will show the present is plenty bright, I can remember many, many years we would have killed for 3-2 after five. We lost to two good teams on the road and have had our share of injuries. Sky is not falling on this group. -
Very much like the idea of Davis being given a chance to see what he has in the tank. I now live in NYC, and Jets fans here thought he was pretty good in his time there, even though the stats were meh.

Should the starters play some vs the Bears
MarlinTheMagician replied to Gregg's topic in The Stadium Wall
I would like to see Trubisky get a couple of series with the starters to familiarize himself with them in game action. If we need him for a couple games (fingers crossed not, of course), could pay some dividends. -
Tre White is doing "great" in Camp
