  1. I don't think its too much - windows open lets boogie. The only issue i have is the 3rd this year. Just a lot of depth holes and a 3rd can be a quality player somewhere lame like guard, or LB where we're pretty thin.
  2. Dane Jackson played more snaps last year than Bates, yet bates is penciled in at starting RG - despite playing LG last year, and everyone says jackson is trash. I actually think i like his play better than wallace in our defense.
  3. Taron Johnson... The call in the game was so shocked that he caught it that he just didn't have a great call.
  4. The only thing is - you have this as an either or. As though at 25 there is a great guard, but also great WRs, PRs, and CBs. The way this draft is at 25 you might get a CB who's more likely a 2nd round talent than first. And the talent at WR might not see the field more htan 30-40% of snaps this year. I think the value at WR is great, but the impact in 2022 might be limited. The other thing to consider - people are penciling in the 4th year swing tackle/guard who had 294 snaps in 2021, 82 in 2020, 78 in 2019 - as our starting RG. Despite him not... playing RG really at all during this time. While also saying we need to replace dane jackson, who had 193 snaps in 2020, and 484 in 2021. I agree we could use some speed or whatever and upgrades on the back end etc. but he has played perfectly fine when given snaps. He's no more of a liability than wallace ever was, and seems to tackle better. If i had my choice in the first - gimme the top guy on the board. I assume they'd stay away from pass rusher, but it its a tackle or something it wouldn't shock me at all. Same with WR - we have good WRs but only 1 is on a rookie deal. Edmunds is in a walk year - and very expensive. Someone might want him in a trade. I'm also content to move down - Try and ger 5 picks across rounds 2-4 - can get CB, RB, WR, IOL, LB in any order and get some people to compete at all of those positions.
  5. Baltimore is the one who's leaned into it really well. The goal is very much what it was with Buffalo and Tyrod - Run the ball, don't turn it over. WR route tree isn't crazy extensive and they send you deep a lot. The majority of other teams in this space have had QBs that were in the 2nd or 3rd tier, and they run the outside zone shanahan offense. Build a strong line on both sides and be hard to play against. Tennessee, New England, Philadelphia, Indianapolis, Cleveland, San Francisco, Cincinnati, Los Angeles Rams, etc. The Rams upgraded their QB to get over the hump to win a super bowl. Cleveland did that this year - but a year off away from football, a possible suspension, all the baggage that he comes with. Going to be tough. Denver will probably work a similar style as well under Hackett, but I don't see the defense being as good.
  6. To be on an injury report, from what i remember you have to miss practice for treatment of some kind.
  7. Our LB depth took a hit when we lost Klein, and as of today he has not been replaced. You also have to look to the future of possible life without Edmunds. Our Guard depth went from feliciano as next man up - to boettger and ford. They've played plenty but neither is who you want if someone goes down. Feliciano missed a bunch of time last year and we saw a bunch of these 2 and they stunk. Our tackle depth goes from Williams who can kick out to RT, to a 5th round pick in Doyle and no one else. Corner - lost wallace add jackson is honestly probably a wash to me, but they still need a player here if white isn't healthy enough to go as well as to push jackson. RB - Singletary is on an expiring, moss had a truly terrible year, johnson is a patch fill in. Could use some talent here but i'd hate it in the first. WR - Top 4 is fairly set, but behind diggs and davis is a ST guy and question marks. Gentry Hodgins Stevenson as options at WR5 on a team that is majority 3 wide. We're talking about pushing these guys off the roster: Dodson Ford Doyle (we need another tackle anyway) Lewis Moss Stevenson I don't think I really want any of them on the roster?
  8. I'm opposed to trading up for anyone in this draft. We need a ton of depth - LB, CB, WR, RB, OG, OT
  9. I know Bailey was all-pro in 2020-2021... but they had 3 punts blocked in 2021-2022.
  10. There are depth holes everywhere though. Who's edmunds or milanos backup? Are we keeping Edmunds or trying to find a new player there? Doyle has upside but our backup tackle has barely played. Our starting RG has never played RG, and the backups are mediocre as hell. There is no major need at WR - they have diggs davis crowder mckenzie. I'd love another guy in there but will a 1st round pick make some tremendous impact this year? I have no idea. If you think the guy you draft can become a superstar though? Go for it for the 5 years of cost control. Corner is definitely a need based on the tre white timetable - even with Jackson playing pretty well in the action he saw. However, why is Jackson auto relegated to the bench? Because he was a late pick? That goes away the day you show up, and he showed up pretty well for Buffalo last year.
  11. Paycheck shouldn't guarantee you a spot. Especially if you have 4 NFL starts under your belt at LG not RG. I don't think they need to address the position in the first, but i wouldn't be totally shocked if they did. Maybe a 2nd or 3rd or whatever - but whomever they bring in should be in competition with bates at RG for sure. I'd like to see another tackle drafted as well. The depth needs at MLB, OT, OG shouldn't be ignored. We no longer have Klein, feliciano, williams and so far replaced them with Saffold. An injury to Milano or Edmunds pushes Dodson and Lee into the lineup. An injury to brown pushes doyle in. etc.
  12. The depth right now of Boettger, Ford, Doyle, and Mancz is pretty freakin weak. We have 1 starter on a rookie deal, 2 backups - one whos barely played and one who is terrible. Not to mention our starting RT is nowhere near a finished product. I'd say starting RG is probably a need, and a swing tackle to at least compete is another.
  13. Thats not really true though... Hill had 444 YAC in 2021 with an ADOT of 10.4 in 2021 (Mecole hardman had more YAC on 59 catches). He had 434 YAC and an adot of 12.9 in 2020. Diggs had 326 YAC with an ADOT of 11.1 in 2021. He had 464 YAC and an ADOT of 10.1 in 2020. If they wanted a YAC guy they should have gone after Davante Adams. They got a faster diggs with worse hands and worse route running. He's still one of the best WRs in the NFL but he is not really a short pass guy - those guys are really precise route runners or shiftier phone booth style players. I also don't think they're running the same RPO heavy offense. There will be deep crossers and a lot of heavy PA from under center - they likely run more of a shanahan offense.
  14. Yep - I think he's more likely to go to SF next year if he wants to do another year somewhere else.
  15. We don't have a real RG option without him do we?
  16. I like the move for Miami. A lot of draft picks used on WRs, but they basically got Waddle in a very strong WR draft and traded for a probowler. They added running backs this year as well in edmonds and mostert, but I'm not sure that was ever really the problem with their run game. Adding armstead and williams will help more there than anything else. The thing about them is though - they added nothing to the defense. Which... much like buffalo was very much propped up by playing bad offenses/QBs. The difference is buffalo was propped up to #1, and Miami finished 15th in yards. Buffalo also wasn't happy with the performance of their defensive line and made massive changes to the unit. Miami is content to roll with Phillips and Ogbah as the primary pass rushers in a blitz happy system. Seems to work when they play the bad teams of their schedule (which were also mostly bunched into the end of the 2021 season).
  17. Sneaky need in the first 3 rounds is MLB. CB and OG are needs for this year (and the future for that matter. But WR MLB and TE are big needs for moving forward as Diggs will inevitably cost too much to keep, knox as well, and edmunds. Edmunds may be gone as soon as next year.
  18. Agree - 2 just got dumped from super bowl contenders in the window. Diggs is gonna want a massive raise and its better to have a backup plan in place.
  19. Singletary had 870 yards and 7 TDs last year though.. that is close to 1000 yards. I also don't think there is really much correspondence between running back usage and success. 4 running backs had over 250 carries last year - 1 made the playoffs. Beyond that - you have the massive amount of running back injuries. Dobbins, Etienne, Henry, CMC, Barkley, Chubb/hunt, zeke, cook, kamara. They all missed time last year. I am fine with adding a running back to the room, i just think we have an injured #1 CB and the rest are very young. Cornerback needs to be prioritized in the first couple rounds. The other is along the offensive line, where improvements will help both allen and the running game. Watching teams trade Adams, and now hill in the last 2 weeks, i'm also not opposed to WR.
