OT: what did you think of the hit on Lawrence?
Bleeding Bills Blue replied to Success's topic in The Stadium Wall
Bush league hit imo. Gotta hit him with a multi-game suspension. He doesn't have the Burfict reputation yet where they should just... throw the book at him? But I'd say 2-4 games would be fair. 4 and appeal to 2 maybe. -
He never realistically pushed anyone on the depth chart all summer. Signed in May, nothing out of camp stuck out, and he couldn't beat out coleman and hollins for snaps. I'd have to say at least... some of that - was his doing.

Coleman being reported as OUT tonight (belinda)
Bleeding Bills Blue replied to Simon's topic in The Stadium Wall
I just think its an injury that risks re-injury. So you sit him out. It isn't the playoffs so there isn't a question of pain management. -
He's under contract for 1 more year, and he'll want an extension after this year. The question comes down to - is he elevating the offense, or does the offense work around him? Clearly his numbers have taken a dip as AIyuk and CMC missed time, samuel is not the player he was, and the offensive line has not been as good. But in spite of all of that, they're still a top 10 offense in yards and top 15 in points. Being a few plays away from a super bowl championship, and then coming back to an injury plagued season makes me think you have to run it back with a mostly similar team in 2025 and hope you don't get injured. After that.. they're going to be needing to figure stuff out. After 2025 - Kittle is 33 and a UFA, Williams has a 39M cap hit in 2026 and will be 38 years old, Tons of dead money tied up in void years for d-linemen, and they're entirely missing talent on rookie contracts. I think its entirely possible they pull a reset like buffalo did and move out some of the aging players. I don't know that they can maintain the same success though, because the depth thats played this year hasn't played very well.

They traded for cooper and his role was essentially eliminated.

To play devils advocate on his "breakout year" - Never figured out how to use his athleticism to drive the ball down the field, it was always runs. So when the media compared jones 2022 to Allens 2019, it just didn't make sense to me. Still had a fairly high sack rate. Turnovers will absolutely kill you, but sacks are drive killers just the same Poor Yards per attempt. Poor Air yards I personally think i would've let him walk. There just wasn't much when i watched that i didn't think could be replaced with Tannehill, Carr, Mayfield etc.

Draft Success Measured by AV - Part IV

I went through the box score, tyrod got hurt so he clearly wasn't prepared to play. But isn't that on the coaching staff for having a backup who's wholly unprepared to play? -
Can the Lions game get flexed?
Bleeding Bills Blue replied to vanhalen26's topic in The Stadium Wall
Lions-Bills listed as CBS on the bills schedule, so i'd imagine its the romo game and won't get flexed. Rams the week before is a maybe to flex to MNF, the slates pretty weak and the only other tempting one is vikings falcons, and the vikings play on MNF the next week. At the same time that'd be 3 MNF bills games, and the cowboys-bengals will probably still draw just fine. -
For sure - its a different type of counter to a 0 blitz, but allen's clock is accelerated and he's got cooper in a 1x1 so let it rip.

Rush looked better last game, he was thrown to the wolves against philly. I don't know how these coaches can put together game plans for backup QBs and have no threat down the field, then expect anything to happen on offense. Reminded me of the first Devito start last season when they just handcuffed him completely and expected to have a chance to win. I might have fired daboll on the spot after that train wreck. -
Either way he's getting hit most likely, i'd say moving into the contact makes the throw a bit easier.

It's one of the things McCarthy struggled with in green bay. Even moreso in dallas you really need to assert yourself and manage the entire organization - not just call plays. Parsons in particular seems to be a player who... needs some extra attention. Talent is there, you just need to figure out how to get that talent on the field every play. A captain in the Sean Lee mold would do wonders for them. -

Fair point. It's weird to look at their roster, because i question where all of the money goes. Dak being out kills their offense, and lawrence being out seems to have killed their defense. They miss an impact player at defensive end, and their linebackers aren't very good. -
Honestly if allen finds the back there he's got the first down easy too, good job showing his numbers to the QB after the chip. He was already throwing to cooper but if he instead stepped up i think he finds davis for a nice gain.

I don't think he's a particularly bad talent evaluator. I'm not a big mccarthy fan, and hes a bit too into star players. The zeke contract was a disaster. He also tends to keep "his guys" even if they aren't that good, or are injury prone. -
Shakir is kind of already the player we want in this role, and boundary WR was what we most needed. I don't know that shakir is better than Ladd, but shakir reminds me quite a bit as a smaller nacua. Great hands, great in traffic, great with the ball in their hand. They both just have an insane balance and low center of gravity to break tackles.

Not so epic Nathan Peterman game.

With his arm strength he needed to throw the ball before he had it 🙂 Eh - scout team has a specific job to emulate the oppositions offense. He's probably good at scouting, and at getting the scout team prepared to help the defense in practice that week. -
Mr Brightside Playing at the Stadium

I think they play it between quarters if I'm not mistaken? It's usually just like a boring tv timeout of people standing around. -

It's a fun karaoke song, everyone knows the words... I'd try to remember that we're there to have fun. -
Yeah, they got a tough road ahead. They're hard to play against with that defensive line, and the offense seems to have found some ability to move the ball with the 2-QB strategy. I'd say 3-3 in division so say they split with bengals and beat the browns - that would get them to 10 wins and cincy can't really afford to lose a game the rest of the way. These poor weather conditions for the remainder of the season tend to slow down passing attacks, so i don't see a real path for the bengals to run the table without some good weather luck.

I just don't get it. It's not even funny.

Woody Johnson suggested benching Rodgers in September

Probably - owners never played or coached football so... they don't know how to run a football team and would likely change their mind on a whim based on a single game performance. You're not the same team you were a week or two ago, players don't play well every week, and unsung people can step up and contribute. Ownership meddling to me tends to lead to names - splash signings and trades of players who have names you know.
