  1. That signing bonus is going to be like 80 million dollars, i agree it would be shocking (probably not best choice of words on my previous post) - and the trade would be immense - but the bengals have been one of the notoriously cheap franchises in recent memory.
  2. One of Higgins and chase is going to walk. Wouldn't be shocked to see it be burrow tbh. Their owner is going to struggle to pay them all that cash up front.
  3. I think beyond all of this - is to take what the other team gives you. If they're in a 2 high shell then use that underneath space that provides. If they're in 0 blitz, find the hot. If they want to play man, scamble and either take yards or buy time. If there is nothing there, throw it away.
  4. Why even put him on the ballot? He shouldn't get a vote. He has a career passer rating of 89.5. His Playoff rating is 73.4. 90th all time in passing yards. 0 MVP wins, 0 votes for MVP for that matter. The accolades he has: 4 pro bowls - which we all know doesn't matter at QB really since Tyrod made one. He didn't even win rookie of the year, RG3 did. The only award he won was comeback player of the year, and he retired right after. What about Jared Goff? He at least played in a super bowl. Derek Carr? Better career rating and same number of Pro bowls. He even got MVP votes in 2016.
  5. I think linemen in general have said that the PFF values for them aren't really useful as you don't know assignments. If the LG is supposed to pick up the stunt, and instead doubles the outside, the center looks like he can't block or obtain leverage - when in reality its just a bad rep by the unit.
  6. I'm not sure how you can say that based off of a couple hundred snaps. I'll give him an INC for the miami game since we were a cobbled together mess on the offensive line. Then you have Detroit who had among the worst defenses in the league, and Chicago... who also had among the worst defenses in the league. Bates wasn't even a very good RG last year, and may be a backup if he doesn't win a job against a rookie.
  7. I see carrying 4 backs with murray as the most likely gameday inactive of the 4, and as depth behind harris as a between the tackles running back. Hines i see as Cooks primary backup, as well as primary returner. I'd like to see them use him a bit as a 3rd down back as well just to continue to use a variety of weapons with different skills to pressure defenses. Depth behind morse is where i just don't see it. Maybe bates can be close to as good, but if he were to miss any time its a huge drop off to the next guys. I also think having familiarity with the QB is huge. Offensive line hasn't been a strength under Beane so I don't think its wise to move someone who's been one of our better starters here. Marlowe i don't even know if he's on the bubble - he's likely off this roster if no one is injured. Neal, Jackson, Benford will all need to play special teams to make the roster, and he doesn't offer enough on defense to make it over any of them. 10 linemen - depends on von's status. I see it like the below DE- Von, Groot, Floyd, and some combination of lawson, Basham, Epenesa, and maybe Ray (though i doubt he does much here). DT- DQ, Ford, Oliver, Phillips (assuming healthy), Settle If von misses time on PUP, or gets put on IR with roster shenanigans to miss the first 4 games, it becomes easier. If he's healthy then AJ gets you the best cap savings... but also pretty negligible so you aren't making a decision at DE around dollars and cents.
  8. To me it was him or hopkins, so this signals they're out on hopkins. But i suppose stranger things have happened.
  9. I always thought HGH was a blood test which... easier said than done. Easier to accomplish for olympics, but good luck getting the NFLPA to agree to it. If its a piss test then I'm sure they test for it. And a few WWE wrestlers passed away with enlarged hearts (Eddie Guerrero is the one i remember), and they all likely pointed to PEDs.
  10. He may be pivoting it away from Diggs and onto him. Like he wants the smoke.
  11. Rookie year - hit in the pocket... and kind of late if i remember.
  12. They scout defenses really well so they know how to scheme kelce open, while also making a team basically decide to leave him open for 3-5 yards plus YAC or leave someone else wide open. Good offensive line really helps their RPO game more than a big money WR since you are scheming an extra blocker for your run game, and WRs are running shorter routes anyway.
  13. Imploded? Down 3, 1:, no timeouts he drove the team down for the tying FG. If not for a BS penalty on cody ford, buffalo is kicking to win that game from 53 yards out. I don't love Haushkas chances on a long FG (he was money in the game) there but the chances of winning there vs. punting is pretty huge. And if not for a knox missed block we probably have a first down inside 30 with a kick to win. Not to mention that other BS call where buffalo recovered the kickoff in the end zone and Houston got the ball anyway. He intended to give himself up... but didn't signal it in any way! You call other players for the most procedural of procedural penalties, but for something like that they needed to make a judgement? Its garbage.
  14. Yeah, we tended to be stupid and really show our hand in the red zone last year. Constantly spreading out despite pass pro issues, no play action from under center, just run routes and expect allen to buy time and find stuff. That and running same plays out of same formations based on down and distance. Not saying change EVERYthing but you should have counterpunches prepared vs. each opponent.
  15. In the red zone we have struggled to run the ball against some of the stouter run defenses (someone like the jets or cincy). Hines and cook can function as some eye candy, motion outside to create a mismatch situation with a linebacker, force them to adjust etc. Just a different way to attack a team with speed instead of size. The main thing i want to avoid this season is being predictable. We have that stable of playmakers that all do things a bit differently so we really have a lot of ways to attack.
  16. I like having him simply because if cook were to get hurt - he can replace him better than some of our depth could have in the past. I also don't want Hines getting whole drives, but maybe some unique stuff for third downs or in the red zone.
  17. Figure one of harris or murray isn't active on gameday - likely expecting one to get banged up at some point anyway.
  18. His drop rate went way up last year, but his average target depth is upwards of 15 yards in 2 of 3 years. You're going to have a lower catch percentage and more drops when you are upwards of 15 yards from the LOS. 3 players on buffalo were in the top 20 in drop % - Singletary, Mckenzie, and Davis. I think the way singletary and mckenzie were used in the pass game - you want people there who catch the ball on short routes - explains why they were replaced, and why they added Sherfield, Harty, and Kincaid as all 3 have pretty good hands. Back to davis? Deep Crossers, Go routes, and deep comebacks and hitches are sort of what he's good at from a route running perspective. Trying to use him like a diggs is going to result in a lot of covered Davis routes where you have to pivot - so i don't know that it would result in an increased target share. I'm hopeful they'll find ways to use harty, kinkaid, and shakir to just reduce his snap count a bit to help create #2 WR targets on a greater route tree.
  19. See thats what i don't want - just use him as a back. Cook and him in the backfield on 3rd downs - Hines with 12 personnel on 3rd and medium. Etc.
  20. I hope we just use Hines like a running back and not some... specialty gadget player. Guy averages like 100 or so touches per year and buffalo can't even get him 100 SNAPS in 9 games. He had fewer snaps than Moss who he was traded for.
  21. Dawkins and Singletary whiffed on a blitz pickup... ball ended up on the like 7 yardline. Miami scored. 14 seconds to half at miamis 41 and we couldn't get a FG attempt. 1st and goal from the 2, we didn't score. Singletary to the 1, allen for no gain, pass, pass. Mckenzie honestly had a nice game in that one.
  22. Just let them have fans on the sidelines? its 90 degrees, humid, and the sun is on them. Player safety is important, and players have literally died from heat stroke. In the winter, if there are no heaters, you still get jackets (probably electric heated ones), hand warmers, body warmers, etc.
  23. Methinks he had more of an issue with McD, and he probably got a phone call from McD, Beane, and TP after all the bad press.
  24. Top 5 route runner in the league (possibly top 3 with Adams and Kupp), for a player who is basically gabe davis on his 2nd contract (sub 60% catch percentage, downfield threat, contested catch WR)... and a 3rd round pick in 2024 that helps 0 for 2023. Thats a terrible trade.
  25. He missed some time with injury, but he started every game after that and played almost every snap in the postseason. They were much better as a defense with him in the lineup, even if Hurts shredded them in the super bowl. And i still won't forgive the league for that bush league call that gave the game to KC and killed the clock. They drafted Watson and Williams as well - watson looks like a player too. They also still have Sneed who is very good. Total remake and they're all on rookie deals. That Veach guy is very good at his job. Pacheco and Watson in the 7th round - and they both are major contributors to a super bowl win.
