  1. Yep - it actually makes AJE the most likely "odd-man out" should we add another pass rusher.
  2. My thoughts are - the team defense as a whole performs considerably better with him on the field, and beyond that performed better than the sum of its parts.
  3. The eagles stagger a lot of dead cap over the course of these deals, and leverage a lot of future cap to keep players. They use options so its kind of confusing - every year you keep a player you basically add a new bonus and another void year. You do have to make tough decisions on vet's though - lane johnson for example will probably get cut next year.
  4. It's one of those... its now, or you play the comp pick game in 2026 free agency, and hope to get a 2027 pick. A 2025 4th is a lot more valuable than a 2027 4th or 5th. I know he was out of position for the super bowl and played poorly, but he was among the most valuable chiefs during his 4 year run with the team - as well as being a first team all-pro the last two seasons.
  5. And probably a little bit of samuel. Considering both samuel and kirks injury history though it's tough and there are 0 savings moving on from samuel - you simply do it if you view kirk as an upgrade in a vertical slot type role.
  6. I don't disagree that he was worse in his 2nd year, or that the offense in general was probably worse. They were still 9th in the league though in turnovers, 3rd in 3rd down%, and 8th in rushing. The offense to me, was incapable of being good since it ran through Linton and Smith. Moulds Reed Price and Riemersma is a solid group that propped up the pretty lousy QB situation, but the problem with the offense was that it was a running offense with bad running backs and mediocre offensive line.
  7. Flutie wasn't a sack machine... 3.28% vs. Johnsons 21.32%... 21.32!! Some of those plays were Flutie throwaways, other's were potential scrambles for yardage. Either way - Field position, and sacks are generally drive killers. Allen's absurdly low sack% today is one of the most underrated features of his game. His first year the offense was actually.. pretty good? 7th in scoring, 6th in yards, 3rd in turnovers, 12th in passing, 3rd in rushing. 6 teams ahead of buffalo in scoring: Vikings - Moss rookie year Denver - Super bowl champions, terrell davis 49ers - Steve young and garrison hearst Atlanta - Chris chandler and jamal anderson GB - Brett Favre
  8. I think Deebo will probably do a little bit of both. They didn't really even have a starter across from McLaurin, and Luke McCaffrey was the only other WR on the roster. It's an upgrade over everyone else they had last year, and i think they can do some manufactured touches for him as well. They don't really have a TE either. Can he stay healthy for a whole year? No. He's always banged up and either missing a week here or just playing through it and subbing. Is he the 1400 yard guy from 2021? No. He's not all of sudden going to turn back father time. Is he still a YAC monster? Yes.
  9. Assuming he even shows up to work.
  10. Poyer got a 15 yard penalty and a fine... Poyer's helmet hit coleman's... and he was a defenseless receiver at the time of the hit. It was hardly "clean".
  11. Eagles go on to win a super bowl with an even more expensive QB... Even if his cap hit was lower his total comp was way higher than jones. What he probably should have said: I'm not paying 13M for a back to average 3.9 YPC (his stats in 2023-2024), that cap space would be better used on offensive linemen to protect my QB and boost the poor rushing attack.
  12. Going to challenge myself and only count QBs i ever watched. Allen Kelly Flutie Tyrod - Some cool highlights, and broke the drought Fitzpatrick - Fun times but they lost a ton of games Bledsoe - Didn't totally work out - but he was better than everyone below him Orton - Sad that he makes this list at all let alone this high up. Reich - Didn't play a ton of regular season snaps, but his playoff numbers are pretty good actually. Edwards - Clear upgrade over Losman Manuel - Started with a little promise and he was about as good as everyone thought he was. You could probably plop losman in here too.
  13. He wasn't quite spector bad in coverage - and he was next to spector far too much... I didn't see much from him as a blitzer, he looks rather stiff in coverage, and he was a little late to react in the run game at times. Struggled massively with motion checks. I do think he sheds pretty well, and is a solid tackler. Just not sure I'm not still looking for a better player at the Will, not sure if thats still milano - but if they move on from milano after this season i don't think you just elevate williams.
  14. If he wants to hang out on the practice squad in case of emergency? Sure.
  15. Likely not much in savings as the primary goal from shakirs new deal is for him to get paid some money today and some guaranteed salary in years 2 and 3. Often players are on a 5th year option when the extension triggers - those have big salary cap hits that can be reduced by spreading bonuses, but shakirs 4th year was already pretty cheap.
  16. Knox's overpay was compounded with restructures too so you couldn't get out of it. He's still a good player though, and a solid in-line tight end. At least he's playing, i mean everyone complains about knox's deal and its moreso the white extension that really was the big miss along with Von.
  17. I don't have an issue with extending cook - i have an issue with 15M AAV. As should anyone. Cap is going up, but that would be the 2nd highest in the NFL, above barkley, jacobs, and everyone but CMC. Let Bijan and Gibbs set the market, don't do it with Cook.
  18. Just don't let players line up that close to the QB unless they are in motion. Then you can only have one person, and if you really wanted to use them to push they'd have to time it - which lets the defense time it.
  19. I don't pay Cook, and I keep bringing in backs. I love the player but i think that depth is the key there and I like players that have a role. Think NE's running backs when they were successful. Draft another, keep 4 if you have to and drop gilliam. Bernard is a great player, and leader. I don't see him chasing a bag mainly because he doesn't have the accolades to earn a large check. With a defensive coach and hopefully some new younger talent, maybe he can lead this team to becoming a top 10 defense. The challenge with Rousseau is the projection of cap increases - What does parsons get who actually sets the market? Now how about Karlaftis in KC? Bonitto in Denver? Thibodeaux, Anderson, Walker, Robinson, Phillips, johnson, Mcdonald, etc. The top 5-10 at a position tend to make more than everyone else as a % of the cap, and there's usually a sizeable gap to the next tier. Based on just he guys above - i think rousseaus deal will fall outside the top 10, and maybe end up around 20 after additionally veteran contracts are signed. IE Is it right to estimate that ~20M AAV is the new 15-17M? And is Rouesseau worth that?
  20. I'm for this - seems fair for a combination of what he's done to earn it and what he will produce. Getting paid before free agency is a huge benefit to a player too. Slightly above the gabe davis number, but for a player who has been the most consistent offensive performer on the roster other than Josh Allen. Cook for example: cleaned up his fumbling issues quite a bit, but 4 fumbles a year ago - combined with several concentration drops - has me reluctant to set the market with him at RB. It's tough to fully commit to the 2024 version and ignore the wrinkles going into last year that had everyone putting Breece Hall above him in most divisional rankings (let alone leaguewide).
  21. He actually still has the largest cap hit on the team in 2025. But 32 is a lot different than 70 or whatever.
  22. From what i can tell, he was playing hurt.
  23. I feel like he stopped trying to play the slice by the end of the year and was more consistent just kicking dead on. Like most of his missed XPs were slices that got away from him on his preferred hash (he also had a really ugly kick earlier in the year). Instead of just trying to play that, i felt like he was trying to kick them harder (faster?) so slice was less of an issue.
  24. I think 3rd rounder is too much obviously... but he played 1000 snaps for one of the better offenses, and offensive lines, in the NFL. There's a market for his services, and he is a starter for many teams in the league.
  25. Doubt it - they have worthy and get rice back, they also probably need to figure out how to pay trey smith and have a big gaping hole at left tackle. Offensive line keeps your QB healthy and usually contributes to a solid running game. Mahomes is paid to turn the rookie contract players into stars.
