  1. Defensively, I saw a team that couldn't get pressure from their front 4. They missed a lot of tackles on defense that lead to a lot of bigger plays. Touch late to the catch point on quite a few throws. I also felt they got hit with quite a few ticky tack calls - the illegal contact on a 3rd down stop (would've been 4th and 3 from the 33 - they got a TD on this drive), the PI on their catch at the 1 yard line being the big two (stop the clock with 20 seconds left. Offensively, negative plays putting them in some worse down's and distances. Diggs needs to be at or near sticks on that 3rd down so we can potentially sneak on 4th. Knox needs to catch that 4th down pass. First half that OPI was a killer, and they had a nice drive just get absolutely killed in the red zone. I think one thing we NEED to stress is improvement on how we approach teams that blitz. Our offense is designed around how to beat the soft zones we see so much, but we don't screen well into blitzes. Even when we call it at the right time it usually doesn't work.
  2. Mahomes scrambles - he doesn't have designed powers and sweeps. Seeing Anthony Richardson get 3 different injuries in like 6 weeks and have his season end makes me a bit apprehensive to add tons of QB runs to the playbook. He's getting shoulder surgery in his rookie season. New england is smart - they may not have a ton of pass rush talent, but they were pushing the middle and the outside contain players don't get caught up field. Without their best pass rusher they decided it was best to just get him 10-20 yards back from LOS and let him run around. Force allen to go backwards to get out of the pocket and then there isn't room to run, and there isn't space to step up.
  3. It helps when the first throw of the game is to your own team not the opposing one.
  4. No out until 2024 so he will be back, no savings to cut him. Id probably have more interest in adam thielen than jeudy tbh. Can fit him in 2023 cap and his 2024 hit isn't excessive. He also brings a skill set that we're needing more than jeudy.
  5. I think the 5th year options is the big deterrent to me. He has a guaranteed 13M deal for next year so with our cap situation that means you basically have to extend him.
  6. He ran a sub 4.4 40 coming out. Now i know he's not that fast anymore... but he's still faster than a lot of running backs even at 33. Combine that with size and attitude and he's a solid piece even at 33.
  7. It's an overlooked part of home field advantage. Probably lower on the totem pole though
  8. I know in that cover1 video there's the one where he overthrows diggs (who beat his double team) and its like where else should he go? And you see harty running up field 20 yards down the field getting absolutely molested the entire way to his break, into his break, out of his break. Like cmon now.
  9. Or maybe... they played more man coverage than usual. And our man beater is diggs. Nobody is thinking about personal BS when they're playing QB, and if they are they probably are very bad at QB. Some poor play calls and spacing. Drops and fumbles. Some challenging man coverage (i think harty played 12 snaps and whenever he ran a route he was held). And some missed reads by Allen.
  10. I think he's right with his answer. We're trying to become more balanced in our approach which should bode well for poor weather games, as well as just playoff football in general. It isn't a finished... product - nor is it ever. I think its ridiculous to outright ask if you're going to demote your offensive coordinator when the team has some of these numbers. 2nd in NFL in 3rd down conversions. 2nd in NFL in red zone TD% 5th in yards 3rd in points 12th in rushing (with allen contributing at the lowest clip of his career) Factor in Allen having just... a terrible night in NY to start the season, and the offense playing their worst game last week - and we're still up there. Like what are we doing?
  11. Allen wanted continuity - he didn't want some new dude to come in and change everything. They brought in Mike Shula who McDermott has worked with in the past and has called plays before, as well as joe brady at QB coach. There's a lot of experience within the org offensively, so they could potentially go a lot of different directions. As much as people hate on dorsey, there have been a lot of execution struggles. I think he falls into habits of repeating concepts, or trying to attack the defense the same way rather than figuring out ways to create wide open looks for players. I think theres... room for improvement in the run game. He also has some issues with spacing. At the same time though - you have Allen zeroing in on diggs, or holding the ball when the people are open. Drops have been much more common in the last 2 weeks - which happens to every offense. Run game has been absent in the first half of the last 2 games. Protection has been worse the last two weeks, be it simulated pressure or blitzes they seem to be getting through.
  12. In many ways Taron Johnson is probably our best DB at this point. Could make an argument for Hyde, but i think johnsons more important to the actual scheme of the defense. Why would i take my best player off the field for a 3rd string linebacker?
  13. I think it was plainly obvious that it was both Tyrod being incapable of running that style of offense, and Dennison being incapable of designing a functioning offense. Keeps the linebackers closer to the LOS so it hurts your run game. He's still capable of buying time to create some intermediate gains, but not as much as he used to. He did a good job against buffalo attacking single high looks and attacking 1x1's, and just generally letting it fly pretty quickly.
  14. I'm saying people are acting like their offense is humming along and Zach Wilson has "figured it out". Defensively they generate takeaways and have a really nasty front 4 that causes everyone problems - i don't think thats really up for debate at this point. And when i say "people" i don't mean this board, its more the media talking heads.
  15. 16 first downs on 30 targets is actually pretty good. Waddle has 16 on 35. Meyers has 18 on 43. Ridley has 17 on 44 targets. Devonta smith has 11 on 45 targets. The chain mover on a 3rd and 4 isn't gabe davis. Other teams it might be their WR2, but buffalo has Diggs. If you have Kupp, Adams, and Diggs (who are imo the best 3 route runners in the league), that should be who you look at to move the chains. You then have conventional slot options to slip man coverage underneath, and TE's for window throws. We have all of those things.
  16. So you want me to do math for you, to prove my point wrong? No. People lay into this guy like he's the anti-christ. Hes 27th in the NFL right now TODAY in receiving yards, while playing on a team with a guy who is 3rd in the NFL in receiving yards. The guy is literally tied for 4th in the NFL in receiving TDs. He can make contested catches, he's good at tracking deep balls, and he has some toe-drag swag. He's also a plus blocker. Those are all traits that teams covet in wide receivers. So you just named 3 players who have fewer yards, and more targets than Gabe Davis right now - even with Buffalo's offense not playing particularly well all season.
  17. Currently his catch% is 70%, even with 2 drops. He also has an average depth of target of 14.7 which is 11th in the NFL.
  18. KC lost week 1 because of drops (and a pretty big pick 6). Bills lost in london, and drops had a lot to do with it. Bengals throw a ton of short stuff and either burrows just a bit off or they aren't getting as much space. Higgins has also been awful in his contract year.
  19. They were getting a decent amount of YAC on some of those throws too. Couple yards short of the sticks turned into first downs or 3rd and shorts.
  20. Since when does missing a FG mean you can't make another though? Also our best player is the QB - i probably trust him to win it (he almost did).
  21. 1 play from the 1 yard line. Everyone has to be on the LOS or they're going to run it. They went for a high point back line throw to their best offensive weapon for that target. You cannot get your head around as they're at an advantage almost immediately and you're chasing.
  22. He finishes the season tops in yards and i dunno how miami gets out of making him the highest paid player ever.
  23. 1T you could maybe look at Mike Purcell in denver as a possible upgrade over Ford. He's not splashy but if we're just looking for someone to eat up some double teams and provide some improved depth i could see him as an option.
  24. He was double teamed by center and guard. Guard got to 2nd level both times to disrupt the linebackers.
