  1. Zach Wilson was a highly touted #2 overall pick. Now I'm of the opinion that the player makes the biggest difference, not the coaching. But you can't act like a player succeeds with a bad coach. He's the only HC Wilson's ever had. So talent evaluation was wrong - he was not deserving of the #2 pick. HOWEVER - Saleh shouldn't get a pass either. He's a worse player than he was at the start, and that to me comes down to coaching at some level.
  2. I was more looking at this from the perspective of the person who said there were only a handful of coaches that he would take over mcdermott. So the maybe's don't really represent my opinion? Just... i could see how you could make an argument for that. I agree with a lot of that - i hate the stefanski and arthur smith style since it basically only works if you're in a close game or winning. At least they both realized that to play that style you also need a defense. LaFleur is fast falling into these habits too. I think Taylor is overrated. Belichick the coach isn't bad, he is not a good talent evaluator though.
  3. Never had a losing season. McDermott has had the one, but that team was pretty lousy.
  4. My only issue with Tomlin is like... why is the offense SO bad for SO long? 5 straight years of bad offense now. And it is certainly not an asterisk... but his one SB win was the year brady blew out his knee and they got to avoid manning because of the chargers.
  5. Put him in the maybe column if you want, but everything people dislike about mcdermott are things mccarthy does.
  6. Lets Run down the list then... Yes - Reid, McVay, Belichick, Shanahan, Pederson; Harbaugh, I'm iffy on McDaniel but I'll put him here Maybe - Vrabel, Carroll, Tomlin, Saleh, O'Connell, LaFleur, Campbell, Stefanski, Taylor No - Reich, Eberflus, Gannon, McDaniels, McCarthy, Payton, Ryans, Steichen, Rivera, Bowles, Daboll, Allen, Staley, Smith
  7. I thought the taron johnson illegal contact penalty that extended the drive prior to the phillips one was a really bad call. 4th and 10, no bearing on the play, TJ didn't push him off his spot and evans if anything was running into him.
  8. I think the criticism is a bit warranted since we were plus 14 for a lot of the 2nd half and we stalled out just outside FG range 4 straight times. 10 more yards on any of those first 3 drives and were looking at a 3 score game.
  9. If you want this to be your point, shouldn't you look this up rather than wait? Is this above .500 after the season? at the time they played? Edit - I'm bored at work and did the math and when you take out 2017 (Tyrod and 60M in dead cap), and 2018 (Rookie josh team with no WRs) its not bad at all. 20-13 since 2020.
  10. Depends on the situation - in that one where its like... throwable? Yes. When its 1st and 10 with 5 seconds left I'm not sure I'm even rushing anyone.
  11. From that distance with that little time remaining i don't hate it. I'm not going 0 but i think you can rush 5. Leaves 6 to cover 5 and they likely don't have a play other than everyone get in the end zone.
  12. There's 6M in cap savings which is good... 1.5M roster bonus due the 5th day of the league year. None of his salary is guaranteed and at 8.4M isn't crazy excessive. He was playing pretty well this year, and i know they value his leadership. I'm less worried about an achilles injury than a knee tbh.
  13. Why wouldn't the refs blow the whistle when the QB is in a 330 LB dudes grasp moving backwards? Kept stalling out, never went for much of a kill shot either. I miss the deep balls up 14 in those situations. We kept them deep for the most part which definitely helped the defense get stops and prevent FGs etc.
  14. I thought he played fine. Rapp on the other hand... woof. I assume we'll have benford and white. I do think its a need come draft time, but i'd like to avoid spending a 1st round pick there. I think with our surplus of picks we can probably grab one somewhere in the draft though. WR2 - Davis UFA CB3 - Jackson UFA 1T - Jones UFA, everyone else gone 3T - Phillips gone S - Hyde gone OT - Push Brown DE - AJE free agent, same with Floyd
  15. I don't know why we don't just go tackle eligible, throw a fullback out there and just hammer it home. It was less than a yard, you could sneak if you wanted but even if you don't want allen in there you have murray and you need a crease about as wide as my finger for him to get the needed foot and a half. Right - it beats the old allen who would never hand off on a read option? But sometimes you read it wrong.
  16. I like spreading it out against the blitz.
  17. The handoff takes too much time. It just doesn't work there, reading a linebacker or not thats gonna be clogged. It's likely an RPO or read-option look out of shotgun - just need to spread the opponent out a bit more for you to be able to execute.
  18. Yeah, I like that motion though. It gives u a quick pitch option and a race to the edge, u can also screw up some of the run fits, generally distract them. Kids got some serious wiggle too.
  19. I'd like to see Harty plays in the red zone a bit. Sudden quickness there is so tough to defend in space and u usually only need a couple yards.
  20. Burst seems fine. He just can't bend very well right now. Snaps help tho, hopefully he can get some of that back.
  21. You can get that same bag of donuts in 2024. Doesn't make a lick of sense to trade him this season as it would increase his cap hit for this year, same as cutting him. You'd be off the hook for guaranteed salary, but the bonus front loads up to 5.35M.
  22. Every OC is a genius when they can run the ball and have time to throw. We had 5 pressures and 1 sack in the game. NE had 14 pressures and 1 sack. We were under pressure for 31%, they were under pressure for 15.6%. They didn't drop any passes. Mac had 100 air yards across 30 attempts. When we blitzed, he hit the hot receiver. When we didn't blitz, he'd just stand there on the spot, or step up into the pocket - and throw short in windows.
  23. I'm not trading him when his value is absolute 0. Whats the point of a 2023 pick swap?
  24. His hands are small (smaller than harty or mckenzie), he catches with his body too much, and will drop passes. He's also not great on deep passes for someone that fast. Based on this...? Elam? Isabella would be likely due to the fact that we have 1 healthy TE and want the extra depth for a 3 WR game if i had to guess.
