  1. He should've cut Fred earlier, that was the mistake. And how does releasing a fullback have anything to do with the quality of a gm??
  2. Fire Rex for the guy who rode his defense to the playoffs... And give a 70 something year old dude who's been out of football for years the keys to the car... INSANITY!!!
  3. Pete carroll was 7-9 for 3 years before he did anything. And had been fired in NE. Team's can get better as a coach builds them. Arians took a team that had John Skelton starting and replaced him with Carson Palmer (I think he's a good coach... but that was a 4 game improvement with a massive upgrade at QB). And Harbaugh... well he had this awesome offensive coordinator named Greg Roman. I think Rex is tying his coaching career to this defense. If they can be really good - we can compete. Our offense will obviously need to be better than they were sunday, but i think Rex expects the defense to be better. He doesn't want to give up any big plays - he doesn't want to give up all those 3rd down conversions. I don't think that they are this good, but his goal is to make them the best that they can be. We'll have to win close games - but if you don't give up a lot of points you don't have to score a lot of points. My 2 cents on his philosophy.
  4. Cover 1 guy did a pretty good recap of the 3rd downs if you have the time (Love his website BTW). http://www.cover1.net/2016/09/plenty-of-blame/ Tyrod will get the lions share of the blame (as he should, he was awful) however there were protection breakdowns all over the place, and confusion. Roman's gotta get plays in faster - we have a young qb who needs pre-snap motion and line adjustments to be successful. Blitz pick-ups on third down shouldn't be this big of an issue.
  5. i'll go with paup. Could use some edge pressure.
  6. That QB run one was game for me. We HAD them on that. That should've been a big gain.
  7. We rely on a ton of pre snap motion to recognize what the defense is running. And we can't even line up correctly, let alone motion.
  8. I dunno - math... a lot of them beat each other? We play... a lot better than we did yesterday. Boom we're in
  9. Players missing last year when we beat them: Gilmore Darby (missed most of the game) McCoy Karlos Williams Robert Woods Aaron Williams Kyle Williams Nigel Bradham I don't like our chances - but we somehow pulled it out last year with Rambo, Tarpley, and leodis playing significant time. Any given thursday i suppose.
  10. No... but Atlanta started 6-1 last year and finished 8-8. Teams can look a lot different from week to week. I don't think we're close, but it's probably closer than most think after a single game.
  11. I think they're probably a playoff contender. AFC is kind of weak. Off the top of my head, 5 of these make it. A lot can and will happen as the season goes on. NE, KC, OAK, NYJ, DEN, PIT, BALT, CIN, and yes even BUF Then someone makes it from the South.
  12. I hate this about roman. He tries to make it easy for his QB - but if watkins isn't open, then nobody else is because they're all clustered on one side of the field. When it works, its great because its an easy read. When it doesn't work, your QB scrambles right and legit has no one to throw to.
  13. It was 1 game... and we lost by 6 on the road. If we make a field goal - we push the point spread. Did you think we'd go undefeated?! People on this board are literally losing their minds. Do i think we're good right now? No. However - if everyone followed this fire everyone mantra, ron rivera would have been fired. Pete Carroll would have been fired.
  14. 1 - Brandon needs to go yesterday... even before whaley or rex. He's part of that toxic ralph regime that was all about money. 2 - Good luck... qualified candidates aren't unemployed. 3 - Tough to find. Coaches in the NFL are measured on championship success, not innovation. If you won one, you can keep getting jobs. They also have to want to coach in buffalo, which is a problem. 4 - There isn't a ton of value in this. In the NFL where only portions of contracts are guaranteed, teams would rather keep their picks and bid on free agents. 5 - I believe in this mantra mostly because most of the teams who are good year in, and year out did not bottom out/tank. 6 - We just drafted a QB project. We do need someone to suit up next year - this isn't something we can readily address right off the bat. TT will probably be back like it or not. I'd say give Rex another year TBH. he's coached us for 17 games.
  15. We did score - and had 0 need for that timeout. Yeah its annoying, but it had literally nothing to do with the outcome of this game.
  16. So... legit there is no positive in this board after a loss. Gronk played bad - and was not good when he was on the field. So they are going back to the other guy who they think might be a bit better. I think they realize the lead blocking in their pulling scheme was not working consistently, and glenn being out makes it that much worse. A lead blocker might help with moving North/South as well. What do you expect them to do?
  17. And as much as the Defense improved... they couldn't get off the field in the 4th quarter. That leaping penalty killed another 2 minutes off. Not that we would have used it. If Carp makes the field goal, i give us a chance to tie. But down 13-7 there? I had 0 faith in us coming back to actually score a TD even if we stop them.
  18. Yeah - that team with 1 losing record in the last 8 years. That lost their QB for a stretch, and also lost like 8 games by 6 points. We suck - but don't say that the Ravens are a bad team. It's not true.
  19. I just looked on his twitter, and he kind of backtracks on it. A "i want to be right" if hes out, but i'm not wrong if he isnt... First he might miss weeks. 2nd he's done for the year 3rd "its a pain management issue" Schefter's got all the agent's ears, so i'd believe it more if it comes him.
  20. He played 42 of 49 snaps for the game, and didn't miss an extended stretch. It sounds like its do-able for him to still play. Will he be at the same level? No - but he's still our best receiver.
  21. We only had the ball for about 3 minutes of the 4th quarter.
  22. It's the regular season - i just don't see them shutting him down unless he is legit unable to play.
  23. Considering they were on the field for 66 plays and a little more than half the game. They did alright. Could've used an early stop there at the end though. Too many missed tackles.
  24. Worst part is - say bill retires from coaching in a few years. He'll just become John Elway team president, and continue running the team into his 70s. Guys probably got a beautiful suburban mansion that he'll go home to. Perhaps they won't dominate like they have, but they're going to be the Steelers/Packers/Ravens/Seattle and be good year in year out. And seeing as we just played them - people questioning the Ravens being included there, yes they are older and have flaws. But they have a top 3 GM in the sport, and a solid head coach. That keeps you relevant every season.
  25. Jimmy looked... alright. He'll catch on somewhere and be decent. With Brady, I honestly think they win even if they make the field goal... 40 seconds, no timeouts, down by 2? Brady will drive down and win in primetime.
