  1. When in doubt - blame the QB. It's his fault mccoy has 117 yards rushing between 2 games. And we probably lead the league in negative rushes. I'll say TT made mistakes, but we also had like 3 or 4 3rd and 9s... and a 3rd and 30. We had no rhythm under Roman, i can only hope that its something we try to drive home under lynn. Try throwing 1 pass every 20 minutes and see how accurate it is.
  2. There are so many random titles in the NFL... The GM can become VP of personell, and then move someone else into the GM role that they like, rather than lose them.
  3. Not to mention Mario... watched the whole miami-NE game. I saw him in the play one time. All game... Guy just doesn't care. And they let Olivier Vernon leave, and brought in Mario. Ugh. Buffalo South...
  4. No ones mentioning that they beat the browns and bears...?
  5. They beat the browns AND the Bears? Next stop- super bowl.
  6. At this point - he needs to run more. A lot more. Call some designed QB runs on plays other than 3rd and 1 - etc.
  7. Those stats don't include running yards. Or lack of.
  8. I'm not sure we call a ton of plays designed with this in mind. I'm not saying he doesn't have issues - he does. But at the same token, any college kid we draft is going to have issues in one way or another. We don't line up under center or run from under center, he doesn't have much freedom to change plays, we don't play action, we don't bootleg, we only do designed QB runs on 3rd and 1/2. And those designed runs tended to be towards the sidelines, with the rest of Roman's offense. He's not good enough of a pocket passer for that to be his whole game, unless we're going to rock some little short passes to backs/slot guys. We can't do a ton of RB screens, since we typically have linebackers playing contain closer to the line, who can blow up screens if they aren't blocked. But WR screens should open up more with the deep passing game as DBs start playing off more. He needs to master that throw, because its like free yardage if you get it where the receiver can run right after they catch it. We don't run these much since 90% of our formations have the receivers really close to the o-line. Slant window's should also open up as linebackers play closer to the line. This also requires that our receivers play out wider so they can get a step on the coverage. I'd also like to see packaged plays in the repertoire. You need to be at the line quick to read the defense, but basically receivers run routes, and theirs usually a zone read built in as well. Make the call at the line and snap. There's usually a slant/bubble-screen/zone read all on the same play. Receivers run their routes and the QB decides what we actually do.
  9. Good head coaches don't run the offense or the defense. You need to be in tune to both. Have play calls ready in your back pocket since you can obviously overrule. But knowing when to call what plays in what situation - lets hit em with a play action, or quick snap this 3rd and goal, they're running a ton of cover 2, lets hammer them over the middle, lets try and get after the qb on this 3rd down etc.. Let the coordinator call a specific play, but it's still your team - you make the final calls. You don't need to be saying the whole play to still be influencing the calls. Not to mention, you're in charge of timeouts, keeping track of the clock, challenges, depth chart, substitutions etc. These are things you should be doing as a head coach. Not preparing for defense on the next drive, while your team is on offense. Wade is a great defensive play caller. He knows how to set up his guys for success, and creates a great defensive gameplan - but i don't think he would be great at setting up an offensive game plan. It'd be the exact problem we have with our current head c
  10. Eh - they didn't really beat anyone of note. They did beat Houston - but that team had really questionable QB play for the past few years.
  11. The GM and HC are both terrible there. They let Arians walk and have just been patching holes for years, not really building anything. The Saints GM is another guy who I can't believe is still employed. They fired him last year. This guy is the replacement.
  12. Exactly - just get a better everything and he'll be amazing.
  13. Are the plays just lousy? Are we putting ourselves in bad situations? We never play under center, we never run real play action... We flood one side of the field and have Tyrod whip it to the sidelines. I'm not sure it's a great offense.
  14. I know that salas and Powell aren't our best players, but little drags and crosses can create space for other players. And add rhythm to an offense on 1st and 2nd downs. U don't need to be Edelman, or welker. Everyone has guys like this- riddick, woodhead, sproles. Why not try bush in this role? He's clearly not working in the regular offense
  15. Disagree... Firing the whole coaching staff after 2 games, 18 games total... There's no coach in football who would fall on that sword
  16. It worked well for Jim bob in Detroit... unlikely.. but it can happen.
  17. 84 yard passes are not drawn up by the coordinator. They're mistakes by the defense. So outside of those 2 mistakes. What did we do? I know we took a 4 point lead. Stopped them and got the ball back. We then went 3 and out (bad running play, chucked one deep, and then clay ran out of bounds).
  18. Do we design any plays to get the ball out quick? I see cole beasley catch 8 for 65, and witten catch another 8 for like 70 from their rookie QB. Do we have any rub routes? Do we ever run little drags through traffic? No - we cram everyone together near the line and run deep routes and out routes. It's craziness.
  19. They run from under center a lot. We run zone reads from the shotgun and run our plays out of bounds basically.
  20. Whatever.. It's keeping me interested. Can i ask for much more?
  21. So is Dak prescott. There were plenty of quick crossing routes to beasley, and quick outs/ins to witten. If anything you'd think it would help a young QB to have outlet passes to get rhythm.
  22. First random article i clicked on regarding Roman and the 49ers... Does this not sound familiar at all? Is it CK and TT, or is it Roman??? Quarterback Colin Kaepernick has drawn plenty of criticism, but CBS Sports Network analyst Chris Simms believes he’s been hurt by what he terms unimaginative passing schemes. Simms, 34, is a former quarterback who played parts of five seasons in the NFL. “I would say (the 49ers have) one of the least creative passing schemes that I watch on film in a week-in, week-out basis,” Simms said. “The concepts are very simple. I don’t see a lot of new stuff from week to week.” That said, Simms is also baffled by the fact that the 49ers’ passing attack doesn’t include some old staples, most notably short passes he thinks would help Kaepernick establish a rhythm. “I don’t see wide receiver screens,” Simms said. “I don’t see running back screens. Very rarely are there easy slam-dunk completions, which are a part of any really good offense. It’s always 'Hey, it’s 3rd-and-9, Colin, can you throw a 100 mph strike for us 30 yards downfield?’ That’s what I feel they often ask of him.”
  23. They had safety help a bunch... but theyd find the other receivers. We weren't able to stop their offense when spread wide with 4 receivers. People were open all night.
  24. When you can't cover their receivers, blitzing and safety help don't really mean much. We couldn't get a pass rush with just 4, and we couldn't cover if we blitzed. I don't know what kind of scheme you can come up with to stop inability to cover the opposing teams receivers.
