Perfect target for 2017
Bleeding Bills Blue replied to bobobonators's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It's their current cap hit. Garcon is in the last year of a 5 year deal so his cap hit is a bit higher. I like him as an option if we lose Woods - or even keep woods. I'd like to draft someone as well, but our depth is so bad right now that we need some real guys out there. We only have 3 under contract for next year and 1 has yet to play, 1 is on IR, and the other is Powell. -
'Sound FX': Rex Ryan

Seems to have a much better pulse of the game and the team. Not needing to call a specific defense on 4th and 1 - reminding them to get the safety in. All good stuff. -
If we're without woods, spreading the field will become an issue. Clay is too valuable as an in-line blocker for us to split him out wide all game long. Bush in the slot running a few different routes or a few different plays can help us. Especially if we find ourselves behind. If McCoy can't go, Gillislee and Williams should still see the majority of the carries, but I'd like to see Bush get some snaps.

Graham and Kyle are the most likely two. 3.1 in dead money for about 10 million in net space. Plus the 6 we carry over thats 16 mil in space, plus whatever we were under the cap before. Certainly enough to play with to get some receivers, and a new corner. -

Thats probably about the same or similar hit% in that round in general. I just worry about giving a big contract to a guy who seems to be in it for himself, doesn't tackle well, and can be inconsistent. We'll have a ton of holes at WR, as well as Mills and Z.Brown to re-sign. It stinks to lose a good player, but there will be players released from contracts who we could target at that position, as well as wide receiver. By going after guys who are released, instead of free agents, we can keep the comp pick we'd get for gilmore. Our WR depth chart next year: Watkins Listenbee Powell -

I just don't think he's that much better than what we could get for less than half of what he wants. I think he's good, maybe even great at his position. But Corey white was a 680K cap hit this year... Is he significantly better than him? Can we find a guy in the 2nd or 3rd who can step in and contribute? Probably. I'd rather keep Z. Brown/lorax and use that money on other people/positions. -
They do have a clear road to the super bowl. 1 - They currently have the best record in the league, and are a game up on everyone. They'll probably be 2 up on Pittsburgh + the tiebreaker after this week. Then they get the Jets twice, Miami, 49ers, and rams. Those are slam dunks for them. That right there puts them at 11. They'd need to lose to Buffalo, Seattle, Denver, and Baltimore to finish 11-5. They will win at least 2 of those. That gets them 13. Which will probably take home field in the AFC. 2 - They have the best QB in the league, and their team is relatively healthy unlike last year. 3 - They're money at home. 4 - In the playoffs, if they take home field, they will go to the super bowl.

I think if they were worse it may be an option - but he's currently Wentz favorite target. I'd try and keep my rookie QB happy if it were me. Having 3 receivers on the PS also makes me think we're trying to have guys ready should someone go down. -

I think barring a bunch of injuries, we likely roll with what we have. We added hunter, and we have people on the PS if we need them. We already have no 4th (Ragland trade) and no 7th pick this year (we do have the extra 5th from the cassell trade). I don't think we do much at the deadline. The draft is how you stay under the cap, and stay relevant year in year out. Losing a 3rd round pick trading for a receiver we can't re-sign just costs us a contributor next year. Is trading him for a 3rd that much better than what they get in compensatory picks if he walks? Maybe a little bit, but none of the front office will be around to use it if they hit rock bottom. And you lose the option of re-signing him. -

We just up fronted him so much money to sign. Spread that over a few years of cap hits and you're absolutely stuck with the guy. -

You can't. Ud go over the cap this year. You can't even really trade him next year either... the cap hit is higher than just keeping him -

Why would they trade Jeffrey? They can tag or extend him and he's young. -
I like the rotation of people we use. PB/ZB seem to play mike/will the whole game even when we switch to a nickel - i think humber is probably relegated to teams/primary inside backup. Spikes has seemed to be playing run downs - and more against running teams. Lawson may take some of these snaps away. Other than that the d-line rotation will probably just add dareus in for a good half of the snaps to start. Not sure, but i think someone ends up on IR to make room for Shaq.

I'd like to see PI just changed. Reduce it to 15 yards - if under 2 minutes - you get all the time back on the clock and the offending team is charged a team timeout if they have one and it is under 4 minutes or something like that.. So if its a big 40 yard play with like 40 seconds left and you grab him, you don't get 40 yards of field position - you get 15 and the same 40 seconds. Wouldn't it suck if you had 1 timeout left in a 17-17 game and your corner got called for PI and you lost that timeout? Yes - yes it would. Hopefully discouraging people from doing it late in the game.

I'd say lorax will lose some snaps. We play a lot of nickel, and Shaq is a good fit for the other end of a nickel with Hughes. I'm sure he'll still play the majority though
