  1. Well our first will be used to replace Gilmore... our 2nd will probably be a safety. But yeah - you're a true fan! You know how it works!
  2. I trust that whaley is a fairly good judge of talent. We've got some value in a bunch of different rounds - he just needs to not fall in love with non-QBs. I just don't want to go all-in on a QB if its another EJ type class. And the top dogs are going in the first 5 picks to the 5 teams that all need QBs. Cleveland might even have 2 picks before us. Just a rough draft to get a top QB. If you think one of the 2nd round guys can be a day 1 starter, obviously pull the trigger. The big problem is we have to show our cards - TT is either on the team or dropped in march, a full 2 months before the draft. If we drop TT, we become a desperate for QB team. If we lose out on cutler/hoyer then we're screwed (probably screwed either way - neither has done much to inspire confidence in the past 6 years). Everyone else in the league will know this - and trade prices will go up, draft trades become trickier, people try to jump us in the 2nd to get a QB ahead of us, etc.
  3. Agreed to a point... Reaching for EJ in a weak QB class because we were looking for a potential stud caused us to miss in the 1st. We salvaged woods/alonso(mccoy) out of that draft, but we could've just drafted BPA or for another need that matched the value of that pick. We needed a receiver - best one available at that time was Hopkins. BPA at draft time was probably shariff floyd - not a need, but we probably could've walked from dareus. But i don't think sitting pat is smart either - when you have 0 can't miss options you need to have a bunch of options to hit.
  4. I dont know about zero... he wasn't on our teams in years 1-4 so i don't really know how bad he was. Very little progress... that's the ticket.
  5. I think he's gotta watch the film on this one and just be in awe of how poorly he played. The Woods one early doesn't bother me as much because its hard to sense pressure, look for a running lane, look down the field, and find your check down. The other 2 pics above are a bit more concerning. He's in a clean pocket... Can he literally not see over his line? If that's the case he needs to learn the brees tip-toes move because it's killing the offense. The key to the tip-toes move is stepping into your throw though, so TT would need to focus on his footwork to execute it properly.
  6. Agreed. I don't care about the ... 300 yards or whatever. Just show that you command the offense, and are willing to drive the ball to open receivers. If you only throw 25 passes because we run a bunch its going to be tough to hit 300... but if you complete 20 of those 25 and get 200 and a TD or two - we'll be really tough to beat.
  7. I like Hoyer a lot - but I just worry its Kolb all over again. Guy seems to always be hurt.
  8. Ej... I think you get a lot of the same. Minus the speed.
  9. 19 million peanuts... He's seemed to turn a corner... even though they considered benching him earlier this year.
  10. You throw to a spot so that you don't throw a pick there. If i just throw it to harvin and he goodwins it and waits for the ball it could cost us the game.
  11. Eh - they were out of timeouts with 2:30 left in the half - id run it. Especially since gillislee has like 3 career TDs in this exact situation where he gets passed the LBs and outruns the last safety.
  12. The red zone calls in this last game left a bit to be desired. I have no problem with passing in that situation. I'd prefer to line up I-form though and play action though. The shotgun quick out is a timing play, and doesn't play to our inaccurate QBs best attributes.
  13. 3 weeks to decide... but if he's not going to play - its tough to waste a roster spot on the 53.
  14. My issue is that Goodwin and Harvin were getting pushed around off their routes a ton in bump and run. This will throw timing off - and generally force you to check down. We needed to go deep to make them pay.
  15. The raiders have won quite a few close games - we have lost quite a few close games. Carr has been pretty damn good this year. Who needs a 2nd round pick - we have EJ manuel and Sammy Watkins... Probably more upsetting if you're Jax and you drafted a QB ahead of him.
  16. Is this the year to do that though? I'm all for going up and getting a guy you really like him. But do they think those 2 guys are worth trading up for?
  17. I'm all for taking more QB chances, but not at the expense of just making the team worse.
  18. Browns, bears, jets, 49ers... all pick in front of us. Browns might get 2 picks in front of us... All need Qbs. I honestly think Whaley is in your camp that he'd like to see better play there - but he's more likely to keep his job if he can build a playoff team now, not in 3 years. Sure its not a super bowl winner, but getting the monkey off the back would do well for his job security.
  19. They can just tag him again... Wentz's problems are the same as Tyrods. He's missing pretty badly too. Didn't watch Goff, but i heard it was rather uninspiring. Why would i want to hitch my trailer to the 3rd or 4th best rookie QB this year...? Rex knows its playoffs or bust next year. This indicates bust - him and whaley would get fired. Year 1 of a new coach/GM - sure i could see it. But Year 3? They're going to want to bring their guy back... which also means 4 years for Tyrod.
  20. There are like 6 teams looking for QBs every year. This year it'll probably be Jets, Browns, Bears, 49ers, maybe zona or Jax and i guess us. There are like no can't miss rookie QBs in this draft, and the browns 49ers jets bears get 4 shots before we would get one. So that means we'd have to overpay for cutler/mccown/fitz/RG3/Kaepernick or something. And for the cutler fans - career 1-1 in playoffs, and that was 6 years ago. I just don't know if he has it in him. So having watched many of those guys play... they are no more accurate than Tyrod. Without a solid WR option the bengals played press pretty much every snap to throw off his timing. It's easier to run on since you can block right off the snap, but guys were struggling to get off the line all game. I'm sure there were throws to be made etc. but I also didn't think we called a particularly good game to get guys open out of press coverage. We have like 0 bunch formations, and we don't use motion enough to get people open. His new contract is essentially a 2 year deal with an out in year 3. I'd pick it up.
  21. Wide 9 teams struggle with running teams. Ur linebackers have to have perfect gap discipline or u give up huge plays. Then ur cheating safeties, causing problems in the back end and it becomes a mess
  22. There aren't a lot of good qbs out there... both the first 2 picks in the draft looked like garbage today. Bortles looks lousy. All the qbs in San Fran stink. Tannehill had a pretty crummy game. I just worry where we're drafting if it's wise to just draft someone and have the fall back option be a hoyer or mccown. Then we're worse. Do we want to lose more games?
  23. How about carp making the 50 yarder while they missed two xps
  24. Doesn't help giving them free yards and free plays
  25. Tannehill has like 50 yards passing and Miami is getting shut out...
