There were plays last year where they used diggs as a running back in motion or running routes out of the backfield. I think you can run those plays with samuel, and keep diggs out on the boundary stressing their defense more vertically where he excels (the guy runs every route well, and can create space inside and out. I'd prefer brown if we didn't already have diggs. I like browns ability to attack more down the field in our offense, but i think thats a position buffalo can look at in the draft as Buffalo needs to create options for life after diggs. Considering you probably have diggs through 2025, a rookie this year still would have 2 years on his deal so the dead cap hit doesn't hurt as much.

I don't expect this huge jump in his numbers simply because i expect kincaid and shakir to get greater target share, and a rookie to take a chunk out of the diggs/davis targets. Him and shakir can play inside/out. It helps a LOT if Diggs were to miss any time, or if we drafted someone and they struggled early or something. Diggs was coming off the field more towards the end of the year last year, and while sherfield was probably a plus as a blocker he was mostly a minus as a WR.

Worst offense in the league?! They had a hugely top heavy roster and they weren't even good. Gotta rip the bandaid off, and you got a coach whos committed long term. Last year their group of backs totalled about 300 carries and none of them even hit 4 on a Yards per carry average. I don't view losing ekeler as a big loss - especially with a 68.9% catch percentage as a back. Allen had 150 targets... but missed 4 games with injuries. Mike WIlliams played 3 games a year ago. They already basically played a season with Johnston and Palmer - and Johnston was a rookie 1st round pick (there tends to be a jump in year 2). They pick at 5, have a franchise QB established, and theres a close to 100% chance one of MHJ, Nabers, or Odunze is on the board when they pick. If all 3 are gone, then Maye is probably available and someone might want to jump the giants - thus getting you a ton of value that they probably need. So its pretty much a win win. Not sure why they included tight ends - but I think Dissly and Parham can cover for whatever Gerald Everett brought to the table.

On the plus side, i think he's done better over his career than sherfield or harty ever has. I can see them using shakir on punt returns now as well.

I'm gonna love it when we win the division again. They feel like a house of cards this year waiting to fall over, and after that things get very dicey. Their biggest concerns moving forward: Tyreek Hill has a 56M cap hit in 2026 when he will be 32. They also have a huge dead hit in 2026 on ramseys deal for the void years to lower his cap hit. Holland is a free agent in 2025, and Waddle will need an extension next season or he's playing on a 16M cap hit team option, or holding out. Feel like you almost have to try and trade him. Their offensive line is currently worse than it was a year ago, and it wasn't good. Their defensive line is currently worse than it was a year ago. They lost wilkins and while Sieler is a good player, its a big drop off losing wilkins. 0 depth. Chubb blew out his knee, phillips his achilles, van ginkel is gone. Added Barrett. Lot of money tied up between chubb and barrett this year. Secondary should be solid. Ramsey and holland are great. Poyer is still a solid safety. Fuller fills and probably upgrades howards spot. But man the depth is... not great. Tua doesn't have a future contract at the moment.

I think Murray is fine, and i can't see anyone calling for ridder after the film he put out there. Coming off a torn acl, with 0 training camp, he looked considerably better than someone like watson did at any point in the last 2 seasons after his "layoff". I see this as them looking for a backup QB who can potentially win a game here or there. Mariota just got 6M, and i view ridder as basically the same player and they get him for 2yrs and 2.5M. I think they probably roll with dortch in the slot primarily, draft a WR at 4, and probably sign someone who can play inside/out.

So one of those WRs will be off the board at 4. It was a fairly foregone conclusion anyway but thats brutal. I think brown is still a possibility to return there too.

I tend to agree. Why would we be adding a tiny dude at WR who isn't a plus as a returner, has a sub 10 YPC average, and whos catch % has declined every year of his career. I'm not trading picks for a gadget player when they could need that pick later to move around or just... fill out the roster with usable depth.

We can only hope. They need some level of a hiccup. An injury. Something... to open the door a crack here. I think its probably WR or TE. I do feel like most of the best tight ends happen to find themselves on championship contending teams for whatever reason.

6 games for Lamar and he was a rookie in his first one, 5 for cousins.

With defenses adjusting to offenses by getting faster, and playing more 2 high safety looks, he's in an interesting spot. Where he excels is getting the ball out quickly, and keeping the offense on schedule. The lack of athleticism though makes it tougher against better defenses though. Brady was a pre-snap wizard, and his later bucs years were buoyed by a loaded offense at skill positions while also having a top 10 defense. The playoffs are usually lined with teams who have good pass rushers, and are usually coached by better units, and he'll probably need to perform on the road in potentially inclement weather and at least a hostile environment. . Having said that - he's excellent in a dome vs outdoors so this is a good landing spot (8-9 at home, plus NO on the road). He was starting to play better in night games where he was traditionally not very good. He doesn't take himself too seriously, and he seems like a natural leader type. The question is whether he can perform in the playoffs when a young team really needs him to. Cousins only has one playoff win vs. Lamar who has 2. Cousins only win was in 2019 as well so its not particularly recent.

Considering he'd basically rotate with oliver, and maybe both play on some 3rd downs - the limited snaps might help them both stay healthy. But he was also already in a rotation with hargrave ferrell and jackson a year ago and he missed time with injuries.

Pro personnel was one of his strong suits for the most part. I don't really remember him ever nailing a draft (the 2017 one to me doesn't count as much, it was mostly senior bowl dudes who mcdermott worked with at the senior bowl and he was fired like right after).

I liked him too! I felt like we didn't need to do corner in the 1st, especially after KC jumped us for mcduffie. I think they had already kind of extended morse though, and neither would've been able to fit at guard due to their size. The chiefs of course have humphrey and trey smith on expiring deals this year... in a deep offensive line class. You just KNOW they're going to nail this one.

I get what you're saying - but they used a 1st round pick to acquire diggs whos been great here. They drafted gabe in the 4th, and right wrong or indifferent he scored a ton of TDs here and split time with brown and sanders. Shakir started slowly but he's becoming a weapon. Knox was a mid round pick whos become a solid tight end. They used a 1st on a move TE last year. Back of the roster moves for kumerows hollins and sherfields doesn't change how you approach a draft or roster construction imo. They are there for depth and special teams. Honestly im glad we moved on from some of the guys we had - neal felt like a penalty machine last year, i don't recall sherfield making any impact plays on special teams let alone offense (though i feel like he was interfered with more than anyone on a per target basis and got 0 calls), and matakevich cost too much money to be jumped on the depth chart by street free agents from the PS, even as a captain i don't think you can carry a player like that with larger cap hits at the top of the roster. If there is potential that adding a hollins can improve the special teams unit, i'm for it. The unit was bad in 2023 - bass was bad (be it holding, yips, blocking, snapping, whatever), martin struggled for long stretches, multiple return TDs (jets one cost us a game, and the patriots opened with another), fumbles by harty on returns, like no kick return game to speak of. Harty did break off one TD at a huge time, but if you take out the 96 yard TD his average was right around the same as mckenzie and he twice muffed kicks - so improvements can be made there too.

Which - true or not probably would never happen. You report this, don't expect to be allowed back in the building.

Wonder if hopkins is available? Big roster bonus triggers tomorrow, and they'd get more trade value if they ate it. They could also cut him today or tomorrow to avoid it.

And by jumping ahead of edmunds into the 3rd, the 4th that cancelled out with orlando brown now shifts down and cancels out a 6.

I mean... If you do that then you hamstring your ability to compete by eating a larger cap hit. You also don't use the natural leverage of a consistently rising salary cap. Not to mention, unused cap space carries over anyway. You also run the risk in like 2-3 years of him asking for a raise. Yep - it looks bad in hindsight because it was essentially diggs for jefferson... However at the time of the trade, it was diggs for unknown player. I think we probably wouldve drafted aiyuk or jefferson there. I was expecting it to be between reagor and higgins though and i wasn't a big fan of either player.

Brown Bease and Sanders were all pretty solid. So the long list would be... Roberts - KR/PR which after seeing mckenzie attempt to do this i wasn't at all shocked they wanted someone there who could i dunno... catch the ball on the return. 2yr 4.6M. Kumerow - Less than 1M per year and essentially on a rookie deal. Not sure why i should care on his age when he's essentially the same price as anyone else. I also don't think having him prohibited the team from adding other players. Crowder - Got hurt. Came off a decent couple seasons. 1yr 2M. Like 0 risk, and was a bease replacement. Harty - Returner. Overpay. Didn't work out. Had a built in out in his contract. Sherfield - 1.7M is again nothing. 750k dead cap had he been beaten out by a rookie. Harty was the only one in the group of "bums" that they spent any money on. And in 2023 his AAV was still lower than what they spent on brown and bease in 2019, and Sanders in 2021.

Seems like a great idea til december and january home games - then not being able to run or stop the run because we spent all the money on WRs looks a tad foolish.

Replaced by Isaiah Mckenzie again oddly enough 🙂
