  1. I think they still come out on top. Sports teams typically remain profitable.
  2. This is probably the conclusion i'd come to. It's like a madden move - keep trading until you somehow secure the #1 pick. 0% chance someone trades a 1st round QB in the first 4 years unless the offer is for higher picks in a better QB draft.
  3. To be fair- most wanted one this year. There will be a lot of available WRs next year.
  4. 13 million is still a huge cap hit for a receiver not to play... that SHOULD be a concern.
  5. Alshon Jeffrey signed with Philly for 9.5... Watkins injury guarantee was what 13? One has been significantly more productive than the other, and was still only given a 1 year prove-it deal because of injuries. Anyone saying Watkins is "getting paid" if he mails it in this year is probably wrong.
  6. I've never liked a player for any team in any sport, like you like Pat Mahomes.
  7. I'm on record as saying I hope he sucks... just so you are wrong. :-D
  8. I have a few dumb reasons for disliking him. 1- My friend was in a box with him when he was GM of the team (least qualified GM of all time probably), and he was gushing over Kerry Collins and the Titans. Gross... 2- Guy wears a Florida Marlins World series ring, from his time... as a marketing assistant. 3- He's worked here for the entirety of the drought and somehow avoided the chopping block, and it seems like every domino around him falls except him. 4- Is a bit of a jerk. A friend worked for the ticket office, and knew Russ at least somewhat. Russ proceeded to snub him, and ignored him and his wife at a social event in honor of... the ticket office! If you want more, i'll ask my buddy for some more inside stories from his time there. He doesn't remember it too fondly. Here's a few real reasons: He sandbagged both lynn and whaleys EOY pressers. He's the Managing partner/President of the team, and is nowhere to be found. Pegula has to do a damage control press conference, because Russ KNOWS that legit every media member, and most fans, hate his guts. Its the NFL man... everyone's making money.
  9. If you were going to trade him, you should have done it before the draft.
  10. Wow - all of our players are on other people's teams? Cool! Probably because we extended some of the wrong players, and our cap has been hamstrung for 4 years because of it. He should shoulder much of the blame for that. Also - they trade players on expiring deals a fair amount. That gives them extra picks. That gives you more chances to hit. 18 players on the roster vs our 15. From 2012 - Gilmore walks, we MIGHT get a 2018 comp pick - they trade Chandler Jones for a 2016 2nd. Collins would have walked in 2017, giving them a CHANCE for a 2018 comp pick if they weren't active in FA. Instead they traded Collins for a 2017 3rd and were as active as they wanted to be in FA. They also didn't have a first round pick last year, who almost assuredly would be on their roster.
  11. I look at it like - theyre going in another direction from Whaley. So Whaleys gone, and all of his scouts go with him. It sucks, but they're restructuring that entire group and will be starting fresh. I don't blame the scouting staff for the situation we are in, nor can I say that individually one of them was better than anyone else. That's on coaching and development - which have been poor for years.
  12. I think Byrd could be a nice fit on a 1yr prove-it deal. As of right now we shoudl really be focusing on who the GM is going to be.
  13. I think it's good to emphasize to players that they need to put in the work to justify their contracts. But Tyrod is probably the hardest worker on the team, the most talented QB, and has experience with Dennisons offense and QB room. I think they want Peterman to succeed, and the best way to do that is to park him on the bench.
  14. Escept those guys have been getting suspended...
  15. Would be amazing if tt got hurt, and Yates played the whole season
  16. Yeah - hes a solid coach. Reid does a good job with the offense, has some experienced coaches for the defense, and even has a very highly regarded ST coordinator. Its a good complete coaching staff. He's never won the big game though, gotta be a bit of a knock against him.
  17. They're built to win tight games - Good run game, and good defense. Went 6-0 in the division and lost a few tight ones.
  18. They aren't winning the super bowl - and they probably won't get to the championship game either. So the pick from there is alreayd in the mid 20s in the worst case.
  19. I don't really care how it works out for them. I just want the players WE pick - to work out. If we get 3 good players out of this, it'll go a long way to pushing us into the playoffs.
  20. It depends on the goal. If the goal is to just make the playoffs and get beat down - then yes we are close - Miami has showed that it's certainly possible. We lost 2 to the jets and 2 to miami because of our defensive inefficiencies. Win 3 of those and we're 10-6. And that was with the rex disaster at HC. If it's to actually compete year in and year out and expect to make the playoffs, I don't think we are quite there yet. QB is obviously a need if we want to be there every year, but i think we looked at this as a unique opportunity to bring in 3 players for the price of one, and as we purge some bad contracts over the next couple of years, this should help us free up some cap to actually upgrade our team in free agency instead of upgrade other teams.
  21. I don't know that he is a franchise QB - for Buffalo. Working with a 1st overall pick who struggled and ended up becoming a good player(and the polar opposite of what Mahomes is - takes care of the ball, doesnt drive it down field), as well as having a solid QB coach in Reid, will help Mahomes become a better player.
  22. Don't sleep on the 49ers... Even with their defensive improvements - you're improving a league worst defense in both points and yards allowed. Bad on 3rd downs, bad against the run and pass. Oh and they have Hoyer and Gabbert at QB. There's a pretty good chance they're also terrible.
  23. Because we were going to draft a corner at 10, and got a corner at 27. Was the corner at 10 that much better THIS year than the one at 27? No. We also add a 3rd this year, which is another 2017 contributor. We also can help continue to build with extra picks instead of constantly having 5 picks every year and just scrambling to put a roster together. 2 firsts for 1 is a pretty good deal every time. I don't think we will make the playoffs this year, but I also don't think we're just going to pack it in either. We were 7-9 last year, and the subtraction of substandard coaching could do some wonders with motivating and just general development of some of our younger players. We're getting back a few players who were injured last year (Lawson, Ragland, Watkins), as well as hopefully getting more out of Dareus (Waufle coached Donald up to be one of the best players in the NFL).
