  1. What about Carp missing 2 FGs in Miami...? There was that thurs night jets game too.. where we gave up 360 passing to fitz.
  2. They were in a tough spot. Either commit to SD, and play in a dump... or move right then and there and eventually get to make more money. Til 2020 though... oof. Leasing a soccer stadium? 27000 Seats? Yikes. Only prayer that they have right now is that they're very likely to be much better than the rams. Gives them a shot to poach some fans. Also - its a 2 hour drive from SD, so i think as much as those fans are POed, a lot will still go to the games. When i lived in rochester i still went to games, and i know season ticket holders who live there too.
  3. Better yet - Alex smith will be a perfect 21/21 for 300 yards and 4 td's prior to his benching.
  4. Patriots over... i guess the packers? I like their offense to actually be able to run the ball a bit this year. Bold prediction? I think the raiders miss the playoffs this year.
  5. The buffalo news won't let me read their articles anymore - so i don't even try. I refuse to pay what they want for a lousy newspaper.
  6. All this means to me - were any of these guys drafted by teams who had a franchise QB at the time? No? Then who are they sitting behind for a full 16?
  7. Colton Schmidt's got to go. Lowest Average punt distance. 2nd lowest average net. There's definite room for an upgrade there. Actually really cost us in the Seattle game, and the oakland game.
  8. I think it depends on what you see in practice. There's a degree of "readiness" that needs to be there. Can he call the play after its relayed in? Will he know the checks? The Audibles? The snap count? Formation? Has he developed a cadence? If the answer to any of the questions is no... then you should probably have him focusing on that stuff. Those things need to be natural - takes some guys longer than others. Like - i wouldn't want to get him killed by a Pro bowl DE because he tips the snap count or something stupid like that.
  9. I absolutely regret everything I did in college from an academic perspective. I had no clue what I wanted to do, and made decisions based on thinking I was too smart to go in a different direction. I'd seriously encourage any of you younger fellas to look at community college. Not only do you save a ton of money, but the adviser's are honestly probably better than what you'll get at a big-time University. It truly did feel like I was just a number at UB. I know you can get a great education from a big-time university, but it's also easy to skate by and not really get much out of it other than a monthly student-loan bill. The job i have now (which I like) requires nothing of which I went to school for, and I'd advance much faster if I'd gone to school for business or IT.
  10. All I know is he isn't Duke Williams. For that we can all be grateful.
  11. Man - the orgo 2 final exam was just the most defeating exam I've ever taken. I got a 58/300 which was good for a C on the exam and ended up with a B- in the class.
  12. The guy who extended Dareus/Glenn/Hughes/shady/A-will and signed Clay/Felton is the guy you can thank for losing Gilmore... He was also fired. I don't think Gilmore is worth 14 mil a year, but I'd have liked a little freaking foresight to the point of trying to ensure you get a comp pick. That lack of planning is ridiculous. We mis-managed the cap and because of it couldn't even try and tag and trade. The fact is - we should have traded him last year. Carolina rescinded a tag and let Norman walk. They got a 3rd round comp pick for it because the trade offers were probably worse. They used that pick to acquire Ealys replacement - and were able to get a little value out of dumping Ealy in a walk year. Seems like they had a plan... and it didn't involve extending Ealy or tagging him.
  13. Pretty much... I think the idea is... no one is just handed a starting job. You earn your playing time. I don't worry about a Tyrod in this environment, i worry about the out of shape guys who got lazy in club rex.
  14. I think we can all agree with you there. I'd like to consistently compete with the top dogs. We're not there yet... I don't think any available QB this year would have got us any closer to that level. We're busy giving up 500 yards rushing to Jay freakin Ajayi, and 350 yards passing in prime time to Ryan freakin Pickspatrick...
  15. Still the first man in the office in the morning, has history with the OC, called the HC when he was hired, called the rookies soon after the draft... He's a locker room leader and will win the job. Im sorry?
  16. I mean - he's barely practiced with these guys. It's tough to get a real evaluation. We also don't even really have scouts yet - so who is the QB of the future supposed to be? Do we flat out bury our guys and say - next year we'll get our QB? Seems like something Whaley would say - and get himself into trouble doing it (http://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/13382343/buffalo-bills-almost-quarterback-purgatory-gm-doug-whaley-says).
  17. Well were a bit hamstrung with a bunch of bad contracts. It's amazing to me how much Miami is able to spend, and it always seems like we're at the cap.
  18. I mean - tomorrow is the future. He's not lying
  19. Lol - tight ship we were running back then. Guy got the job after Levy retired. This all screams Russ Brandon. And we ended up with a lousy GM because of it. But nooooo he's a marketing geeeenius!
  20. I think the goal is to set yourself up for future success. Draft better... lock up the right players... set yourself up for comp picks in walk years... or trade players before you have to lose them for nothing.
  21. That also caused a huge uptick in broker season tickets (which helps sell out games... but also drives revenue down as they'd negotiate pricing on big groups of seats). They only had 1 home preseason game for 5 years, which is usually a sunk cost for a ticket broker.
  22. My friend was telling me a story of old VP of player personnel John Guy. An Intern was interested in being a part of football ops - he basically brought him into the film study room and embarassed him for not knowing anything. How are you supposed to develop talent when you squash everyone, and don't let anyone into the inner circle? John Guy was our player personnel guy when we signed studs like Dockery, Walker, and TO. Needless to say - he was deservedly canned. And hasn't been in football since. This guy seems like he was brought up through the ranks... like most people are within like every other organization in football.
  23. If you can fix this dumpster fire - you'll get a promotion somewhere...
  24. Sure - he needed to be better in those games. That can be agreed upon. But there are a bunch of other reasons we lost those games. But we couldn't get a stop, and couldn't punt in that oakland game either. In the Miami game we gave a huge play to Landry and 200+ rushing to Ajayi. We also couldn't run the ball at all. In the Ravens game our offensive line played like garbage. As well as the rest of the offense. Pittsburgh? See Leveon Bell. 236 and 3 tds and another 62 through the air. Absolutely embarrassing. Another game where we couldn't move the ball on the ground. TT is part of the problem. But those saying we're saved by a QB may be missing some of the bigger picture. Brady did amazing down the stretch to win the super bowl. You know who else did? Their defense... 1-8 on 3rd downs through the entire game. Only 17 1st downs.
  25. Maybe 5 year fully guaranteed deals to coaches who got fired mid-season the year before aren't advisable? That'll definitely put a dent in your P/L.
