  1. Def hard to crack into that top group. Need to win an MVP, few first team all-pros, and have absurd longevity for this era. Demarco murray had a better year behind the same O-line... why isn't he on the list?!
  2. Shedding salary to roll over into 2018 and tanking for a top pick in 2018. They'll have a ton of free space from fronting some cap charges into 2017, and will roll over another big chunk. They'll remake the team in FA, and/or trade Richardson for something. They do have a ton of needs though... QB - assume this is covered with the tank RB - probably plug another vet in here WR - should be a good crop of free agent WRs, and one of theirs might turn out to be something TE - Nothing at this position at the moment CB - Nothing at this position really S - Adams.. and not much else OLB - more of the same... They add a top 3-5 pick and they get their QB. I would see
  3. 1800 and 28 TDs in 1 season. Also caught 100 balls in 03 He's pretty good...
  4. For the most part I agree. I also think he was a victim of circumstances with Oakland. They brought in their rookie QB, and whats the best way to improve one - oline and WRs. They used a ton of money to build the line, and then signed crabtree and Cooper fell right to them. If they don't sign Crabtree - he probably starts the last 2 years. If they don't draft cooper - same thing. Worked out well for us - in any case. He's super cheap. If hes good - great. If hes not - hes gone.
  5. whats ours now Sammy Holmes Jones Brown Streater Ross/Tate It would probably be hunter or heyward-bey. I don't think either of them is particularly good.
  6. Seeing the tackling of our defense a year ago, i can safely say we need Ragland on the field quite badly. For that reason, I don't think that Preston Brown is "good". He's alright.
  7. Boldin - chasing a ring.... won't come here. Barnidge - chasing the big pay day. He'll take the top dollar he can get guaranteed, or he goes somewhere where he can maximize his numbers and try again for the big pay day. Byrd - was cleared by team doctors, but refused to play in his last year here. Also a pretty lousy tackler in a defense that requires you to tackle well. I think we're going to carry the cap space over. Maybe make a move or two in the beginning stages of free agency instead of waiting for scraps. We could also use the space if we're forced to franchise watkins. 2017 was like 15 million. Carrying over an extra 10 (i assume 2+ gets taken up with roster moves) will help us field a roster when we have to tag someone.
  8. Ones I came up with (I took out guys who play primarily in the slot, and I didn't use any rookies since i don't really know what their role will be) M Crabtree E Sanders B marshall M Jones R Cobb D Jax J Brown D Parker M Wallace T benjamin Mostly just big guys, or speed guys. The possession route runners will always get their - 5 for 50 type of games.
  9. Streater had 60 and 888 with 4 TDs in 2013. Holmes had 47 and 693 and 4 TDs in 2014. Bottom line - quicks stats resemble streater and holmes. If he is cut - he will have missed OTAs, TC, Preseason, and a ton of time with the Tyrod. To me - it wouldn't make sense to bring him in unless he looked like a major upgrade
  10. I just don't get why people like Quick over a Holmes/Streater. What has he done that they didn't do? If he was good - they wouldn't have spent 34 million on Bob Woods. Right now it looks like Jones is taking over the Woods spot of #2, probably moving over to the slot in 3 WR formations. I don't think he's an upgrade there, but Woods always seemed to have a sore something... and he fell over a lot. Holmes is #3, and Brown is #4. Last year that was goodwin/hunter. Goodwin has speed, but he isn't a red zone threat, and is a poor route runner. He didn't seem to have a good football sense/toughness either. Hunter was added mid-season so it's tough to evaluate him. Streater may provide some depth, and tate probably returns kicks. Watkins needs to healthy, and then we're better than a year ago. 1 Healthy watkins is a big upgrade over the 1/2 watkins we had a year ago.
  11. Isn't it just a matter of faking a cut (which he's good at) and getting the defender on their heels... then taking it either inside or outside?
  12. Or just.... every bills dolphins game where they throw little passes to landry over and over again. It's not particularly effective but they definitely do it.
  13. Have you watched a steelers or dolphins game recently? Brown and landry each get like 5 a game....
  14. We averaged like 1 ypc on 1st down. Set up our limited QB to fail with the #4/#5 WRs starting.
  15. Rex's system requires so many checks and changes based on the offense. The 4-3 3-4 wide 9 whatever... it's all football. His defense is fundamentally different in the run fit's and it saps a ton of the aggressiveness of some of your players. 32 yards on 14 carries from our running backs. Gross. And we started Hunter and Goodwin at WR. Was McCoy still hurt?
  16. Or the pittsburgh one. Dareus was like a shell of himself last year. Hopefully he comes back and brings it. Makes everyone around him better when hes attacking his gap and dragging doubleteams.
  17. Ragland struggles in man, but was a fine zone defender in college. He has some edge, and hits hard. Attacks run gaps, doesn't get caught up. Better pass rusher than brown too.
  18. I posted a link earlier in here to the article, but he was incredibly predictable with playcalling.
  19. I was frustrated with his game-calling on offense. Run-Run-Pass-Punt. http://www.sharpfootballanalysis.com/blog/2015/how-a-rookie-head-coach-derailed-a-rookie-quarterback-then-vanished-with-4-million
  20. Lol... seems like he has about as much chance to make the roster as i do. The year off under club rex clearly didn't help him grow/evolve.
  21. I mean - they might now? They did fire like everyone to start fresh. I think the idea is - stop changing coaches/gms/systems every 2 years.
  22. I look at it like it was tough circumstances. The Raiders had a lousy O-line and just lousy offense in general in 2014 (holmes last year mostly starting). They replaced james jones with crabtree on a 1yr prove-it deal, and had the 4th overall pick. The top 2 were QBs so you basically get one of the best non-qbs in the entire draft. Would his numbers have improved if they hadn't selected cooper or brought in crabtree? Probably - but they did and they stayed healthy so his snaps went massively down, and he clearly isn't suited for the slot. Assuming he played well on teams that shows to me that they valued his depth. He's still relatively young, and was a UDFA so its a hard road to even making a roster in that situation. Would I like to see more production out of our projected #2/3? Yes. Is he a buy-low possibly high upside kind of guy? Sure.
  23. and looking at our depth chart - probably the most likely 3rd down back.
