Reason for Concern?
Bleeding Bills Blue replied to NastyNateSoldiers's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
All 3 of those receivers had speed questions. On the Zay scouting page it said this though and i giggled... "I thought along with Haason Reddick, he handled the process better than anybody in college football. He's got hands and toughness. ... People thought he couldn't run because most of his offense was underneath. I'll tell you right now, he ran away from people at the Senior Bowl. He went from a third- or fourth-round selection to a high second-round because he trusted the process." -- Mike Mayock -

So you're saying they just pick their guy at 1? -

Yeah - just throwing a bold idea out there. If they go non-QB at 1, then teams begin looking to trade up to 3 if theres a certain QB they want. Going to be a bizarre offseason and leadup to the draft. -

No, of course they wont. But when the franchise as it stands has literally never had a starting QB, it might be worth it to invest in it. They're at least a year out from competing - you get a full year with both of them and trade the extra piece a year later to a team for a 1st and change. Yes - its not maximizing your assets. Just looking at it from the perspective of the parade of terrible players they've had since tim couch... and how its corresponded to being the worst team in the league for an absurdly long time. -

Get one at 1 and at 4 - you can probably trade the one who doesn't win the job for a bunch later. -
Potential replacements for Eric Wood
Bleeding Bills Blue replied to The Now Moment's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Sportrac has it at $5,591,668. 4.3 in prorated bonus money, and a restructure bonus that lowered his cap hit from last year. Yeah - all the bonus money is already paid so that gets pushed into this year. Roster bonuses/workout bonuses don't count - as they were not met. Guaranteed base salary is also paid out, but he didn't have any. -

Why don't we see how free agency plays out...? It starts like 2 months before the draft. -

I don't think the story is about the bills offseason. It's more about a person and a life and career altering injury. The team will be fine either way - we don't really have a star player. -

For sure - if a player is forced to retire early its almost always a big deal. Especially if its concussions. -
Bills analytics department fired/restructured
Bleeding Bills Blue replied to ricojes's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It's also great in baseball because there are sooooooo many leagues, soooooo many players. You can't watch them all. You can look at numbers, and pull out a top 50 prospect list of guys you like, and then from there watch tape. Still always comes down to tape. Football there are things you can analyze - whether you should go for 2 in x situation, win probabilities etc. But you can't really use it for accurate player evaluation. So many positions literally have no stats at the end of a game. I assume coaches see on film when a run goes for no yards, who is at fault. I don't need a computer to tell me that. -

Well if the 2 that you value are the top 2, and they are gone before you can even trade for anyone... it doesn't make sense to trade for a guy you view as the 3rd best QB in the draft. If its true and 5 qb's go in the first like 15 picks (Rosen, Darnold, Mayfield, Allen, and rudolph/jackson) - good players will be available at 21/22.

Philly also got one back for the bradford trade - Derek Barnett.

At least if you put 3 up, you win with a last second field goal on your final drive. You could really tell that they didn't have the playmakers to make any plays in man coverage though. They played more man, and more pressure in the 2nd half. Bortles wasn't getting those lanes to take off and run that he had the last 2 weeks, and he was off just enough to miss a bunch of opportunities.

Dareus, No Gilmore, Yes
Bleeding Bills Blue replied to Foreigner's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Dareus had the worst contract in the NFL. His cap hit is still one of the tops on the team, and he's not even here anymore. He was also a lazy selfish player. Gilmore was a free agent - and the only option was to tag him. Tagging him means likely no hyde/poyer, and we probably dont draft white. Practice squad guys are fringe players trying to get a job in the league. We stole a player from the NE practice squad, which was not mentioned either.
