  1. This is a weaker QB draft? I think the top guys seem just as good as the last few drafts, and there's a decent amount of mid-level guys with more talent and intangibles. Nobody will come out without something of an issue. Wentz struggled with deep passes, Goff didn't play under center/played in a spread - same as Trubisky and Watson. That makes scouting that much more important. Beyond all of that - COACHING for your QB is clearly really important. I don't know that we have good guys in the room right now, and i don't know that we have in the last 15 years.
  2. Either an edge rusher or a good pass rushing DT to push the pocket is an absolute must. Both will make a lawson/hughes/washington look a lot better stat wise.
  3. I mean... i can blame it on him a little bit when we have a QB who is clearly more comfortable in shotgun... taking snaps under center. A QB who likes to buy time, and you have him throwing rhythm passes. Or a team that clearly runs power and traps very well... running outside zones for 1 YPC and leaving us in constant 3rd and longs. I think TT has been terrible for the last 5 weeks, and generally just serviceable. But this OC has killed any chance the O had of succeeding.
  4. We have soooo many holes. It becomes a problem filling them when your QBs cap hit is absurd
  5. A drafted QB is sooo much cheaper for 4 years. You can build the rest of your team through that, so I'm opposed to signing a FA QB unless the price isn't too high. I'd like to bring someone in to compete with the rookie. Someone like a Chase Daniel, or McCown if the price is right. I say focus on the QB this year in what looks like a solid deep class. Use other picks this year to focus on the offensive and defensive lines. With KW likely done - and the mediocre play of our O-line, it's pretty clear we are going to need upgrades along those areas. Protecting your new asset should be a top priority. The young QBs who are succeeding right now have had hefty investments on the oline (Dallas, LAR, Philly, Oakland etc). After that- getting after the QB is like the 2nd most important part of football, so keep going after pass rushers.
  6. Right? 5 picks - nuff said. He didn't really do anything when he came back in garbage time either.
  7. Yup. Don't want to build around a flawed qb. Don't want a bad oc coaching a rookie
  8. Do you think he wins a super bowl in Indy?
  9. I find him to be overrated - jmo. I guess tanking kinda sorta worked for them... But i don't think the guy wins a super bowl in Indy.

  11. I don't understand the Miami love at all.
  12. Fine - lucks great. He was so great they went 8-8.
  13. Football tanking doesn't work. Winston and Mariota looked great last year, this year not so much. Luck hasn't been good in like 3 years. RG3 already flamed out. Wentz and Goff look great this year - we'll see about next year (but both of them were traded for - so they don't technically qualify as tank people). Stafford never won anything. Newton's not exactly a world beating star, what'd they hang - 9 points on us? Sam Bradford still keeps getting huge pay days despite never doing anything.
  14. When you have a bottom 5 offense in the league there are no gimme wins (for us or them). A turnover, or special teams TD can flip a game on the baltimores/buffalos of the league.
  15. I don't think ragland would have seen the field Sunday for Buffalo. We were in nickel literally the entire game. The defense they are building seems more dependent on play speed and gang tackling than on a big run thumper. If he had come to camp like 15 pounds lighter (as preston brown did), he may have had a shot. And for those complimenting his coverage skills, he seems "OK" in man, but if you're wanting him playing a deep lying zone i think he'll be easily beat. We play a ton of zone.
  16. He seems to be around the ball a lot, and always finishing plays. I have no problem with the player - i don't think he's like... a dominant first round pick. But he seems to care and play hard.
  17. Belichick is in charge of his team's personell. He brings in guys he wants to fit what he wants to do.
  18. Our worst guy in pass coverage is Preston brown, and this guy was so much worse than brown at coverage that we had him on the scout team.
  19. Think the only way you win is if you go with a college game plan, put as much speed on the field on O as you can and just spread it out and try and score points. Bring a fast tempo to the game. You wont win this one with 16, or even 24 points.
  20. I think the body clock rushed it. The deep route on the right side of the field brought both the corner and the high safety deep so there was room. If the corner doesn't - and reads that play then it could be a pick. He may have just rushed the read and forced it in the window he saw. Good QBs are constantly behind the sticks all game because of a terrible run game.
  21. That's the way i look at it. A lot of good players coming later in the draft at this position. Also, we aren't in a major cap crunch so I wouldn't create a hole just to have to fill it. We already need LBs, DTs, a pass rusher, a CB, a RT, a RG, probably a WR, definitely a QB. Why would we want to add starting RB to that?
  22. Big plays. Need someone to step up. They aren't going to play a ton of man, and they are likely to spy TT and keep him in the pocket. I'd come right at them with a passing attack and ease into a run game.
