I just never understand burning a play on 1st or 2nd down... it just makes no sense. They line up 8 or 9 in the box, and you run right at them on the outside, and lose yards. I know you can't predict how they will line up when you call the outside zone play, but there has to be a contingency plan.

We were absolutely thrashed on this board for doing the exact same thing against jax.

That 3 play sequence was just awful. i think they lost yards, and used like 8 seconds of time.

You have to at least get them going side to side. The run calls were just brutal. In the 4th quarter the motion timing was bad, they didnt do much under center either where its easier to get them on a misdirection, or get a reverse going.

You have to get 3rd and close, so you can get a better 4th down try than 4th and forever.

One of those backshoulder throws gilmore gets beat on - he loves playing under on man coverage but when he's late like that he gets exposed.

At least if you put 3 up, you win with a last second field goal on your final drive. You could really tell that they didn't have the playmakers to make any plays in man coverage though. They played more man, and more pressure in the 2nd half. Bortles wasn't getting those lanes to take off and run that he had the last 2 weeks, and he was off just enough to miss a bunch of opportunities.

Dareus had the worst contract in the NFL. His cap hit is still one of the tops on the team, and he's not even here anymore. He was also a lazy selfish player. Gilmore was a free agent - and the only option was to tag him. Tagging him means likely no hyde/poyer, and we probably dont draft white. Practice squad guys are fringe players trying to get a job in the league. We stole a player from the NE practice squad, which was not mentioned either.

Not sure the clock actually hurt them there. Patriots took the lead with what... 3 minutes left? You would've run the clock out on yourself. You have to go into that 4th quarter knowing you need to score points. FG is a win, a TD can probably ice it.

He's still more accurate than jackson with similar mechanical issues. Both have cannons, but jacksons clearly much more runner/athlete and a massive work in progress. Mahomes seems more resembling a finished product.

Mahomes is an athlete that can sling it - his big issues are mechanical. He doesn't set his feet and will sail some, and short others. Guys a gamer though so I'm sure he'll be good. Cutler with a good attitude would be a good comparison. I think he'd be around 3rd or 4th off the board. Spread offense, never really took any snaps under center. Won't be a likely day 1 starter - so you burn through at least year 1 of the rookie contract on a wash year.

Yards per attempt is a good number to look at that will be low if a QB has a high comp% but is a dump-off QB. Low comp% will also have a low YPA because they're completing fewer passes. Tyrods 6.8 or whatever is in the bottom 3rd in the NFL, and that's probably where he ranks as a starter. Tyrod will also get a minus on Net yards per attempt because of sacks. But the "adjusted YPA/adjusted NYPA" will improve because it factors in that he doesn't throw picks.

I think he learned a lot in his time here, and after leaving saw some of the same. He came in and tried to be Sean Payton in year 1 - and probably saw some of the same in Bradley. You have to earn players respect and trust. He's got that team performing a lot better than they have in previous years.

Not many - and most of them don't come from spread attacks. Someone put this list together and its pretty damning. Yeah - its easy to throw to a receiver who is legit standing there who can come back and get the ball. Precision isn't as important. Geno Smith completed like 71% in his senior year, but if you watched the highlights they were all screens to Austin and Bailey.

The Tampa win was pretty good - Tyrod led a 4th quarter comeback (), and Tre White ripped the ball out and recovered the fumble to ice it. Oakland was a good win because literally everyone thought we were going to lose. They had just beaten KC on TNF and were looking to turn their season around. They came east and got beaten up - that win felt good.

Sure... if they were lined up with more than 5 seconds on the play clock... and Tyrod wasn't clapping repeatedly to get a snap.

Yeah - didn't totally hate Chan but feel he's overrated by a lot of people here. I feel like as the season wore on people kinda caught onto his gameplans. He also had a considerable number of stinker games for me to ever consider him a really great offensive coach. Good guy for getting a lot out of... not a lot. Hackett - run run pass punt. Next. Roman - great run concepts, but like a total lack of anything resembling a coherent structured offense. Too many penalties, late play calls, no motion, limiting. Lynn - worked with romans playbook, and in general did an alright job trying to clean up the 2 minute offense and the penalties. Rico - too many negative plays, and too cute. Daboll - ???????????

Either way - smith/kaep/taylor all have different strengths and weaknesses... and yet they all operated basically the same offense. Tight formations, out routes, hitch routes, nothing over the middle, read and run. Nothing over the middle, limit turnovers, sacks are better. Shotgun/pistol mostly, lot of read option and speed options. The 2 minute offense/playcalling issues were prevalent in San Fran too, so I think that's just who he is.

He had alex smith who's pretty accurate and it was still a bottom of the barrel passing offense.

Why should he? All it does is give him a massive amount of risk, and minimizes his reward. The issue always comes back to guaranteed money, and he wants more than what he's getting on 2 running back tags.

Less than a 1st - hes cheap but only for 1 year. Bradford was affordable for 2 years and fetched a 1st out of desperation. Garroppollo is younger and they got a chance to try before they "buy" - and he only got a 2nd.

I mean the shoulder injury from college doesn't seem to be an issue. it's just the knee. He tore it in 2013, then again in 2014 - and missed 15 games this year with issues on the same knee. Not sure if it was torn again or what

I wouldn't hate it - but i would be irritated if/when he got hurt. He destroyed the saints week 1 in his only real action last year. 27/32 for 346 and 3 TDs.
