Priority: Develop Allen or Win Ugly?
Bleeding Bills Blue replied to Berky1010's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I personally think the goal is always to win. That strategy we just used to beat Tenn, is likely to only beat a team like them. Houston we could see something largely similar since its also a team with a young QB, who struggles to run the ball. Once you start running into teams like NE, you have to attack them - because you're unlikely to limit them to under 20 points (yes it can happen, but their success rate is what 90%). I would expect to run the ball against Houston, they have a really good defense and the goal will be to eek out a win again. -
He can't catch back shoulder fades, and he seems to be slow out of his break on every route. He's slow and never open, and is struggling to catch contested passes. It's literally all you can do at this point with him since he's never open. I'd love to line him up inside, but he doesn't want to mix it up with LBs in the run game so that doesn't work either. I'd honestly just replace him at this point. If we go deep to him whenever he's on the field, the other team will never bite on the PA fakes. He needs to improve his route tree.

Bills claim DT Jordan Phillips

I'd be interested in britt or mitchell. They both have some experience in a erhardt perkins system. Assuming theyre healthy... -
That is a rather big mistake... Even if you leave yourself 10 seconds or something its still better. Tennessee had 2 timeouts as well. Why not make them use them? I probably wouldn't have opted for the squib kick either. Christies limited leg may have forced their hand though. Maybe have a high and short kick plan or something along those lines. It's that type of situational football that you need to think about. More food for thought... The clock starts as soon as the kickoff begins (in 1999), so if you had limited it to maybe 8-10 seconds, you can kick it out of bounds and leave them with only like 4 seconds from their 40. A FG is impossible

So we're going to pay a guy 100 million because he eats space? He was paid to be a top 3 playmaking DT in the NFL. To rush the passer, and to be a player you had to gameplan around. He was not any of those things. Good Riddance. They paid him 5 mil last year, and a little over 10 this year. Those are reasonable numbers for a space eating NT/DT. We traded him so that we could get half his dead money on the books for 2017 and eliminate his fully guaranteed 2018 base salary. Saves Pegula some 15 million in cash.

Yeah - thriving to the tune of sub 200 yards passing, and 2 TDs and 3 picks through week 3. That teams been all defense. Less than a hundred on the ground every week, tons of sacks, takeaways, and even 2 defensive TDs. I assume Beane was there and they indicated a few things. 1 - we're rebuilding and a lot of this season will be based on evaluating players 2 - we have a massive dead cap number, and probably the worst roster in the league 3 - all of that dead money is money that was already paid to players, so we probably have the cheapest roster in the league 4 - we will likely turn a higher profit than the previous year due to paying out less in player salaries and signing bonuses 5 - we have a lot of draft picks, and a lot of cap space to make moves to address holes in 2019

This would be some sound logic TBH. If Mahomes had played at the senior bowl i think there would have been a better chance of us selecting him. The extended looks in practice, and the game film in more pro style offenses etc was important for McDermotts evaluation - based on the fact that we drafted 4 guys who played in the senior bowl (3 on offense). It's a tall task for McD to scout everyone himself based on the fact that he was coaching all season the previous year. I imagine he watched a ton of film, but at the end of the day it's clear he wanted to get guys he met and liked.

McCoy is done, Trade him

No - he's walking in 2019. You cannot extend him mid-season. If you want him - sign him in FA next year. Why trade future players to try and fix a bad team? -
Will we ever have an offense

Get ahead of sticks - less likely to have penalties running than pass blocking - less likely to get turnovers - set up PA... Seems smart especially with a rookie QB.
