  1. Team needs to learn how to block, and how to get open. Until they do that - it doesn't matter much. You can't always scheme something. Talent usually trumps scheme.
  2. Figure out how to run the ball. If the line truly is this bad - then it really won't matter what plays you call. As for passing - once allen is back. Call the game as though he's good and see what he does. He needs to see the field better. If he's not going to be the guy, then i want his failure to set us up to draft the next one. 2020 may be a good draft for QBs - and if he sucks we'll be in position to get one right?
  3. Yeah... with no one to pitch to... or like any chance of getting into the end zone. I mean... pryor dropped a first down into the other teams arms. Benjamin dropped an actually nice throw in the end zone.
  4. Tre whites pretty good. Both drafts have actually shaped up pretty well.
  5. Look at the dead cap number. We're rebuilding and we currently have no qb. Rex would be 0-8 right now and we wouldn't have made the playoffs a year ago. Yeah.. what is that?
  6. I remember a whole thread dedicated to bringing Schmidt back
  7. They will improve the offensive line in the offseason. They will add WRs in the offseason. I think Shady is set here for 1 more year because why mess with it. He can still be a weapon in the 200 touch range, we'll still have murphy and ivory. The offense needs to be overhauled around that. The only oline guys who look like theyre likely to stick would be Bodine, Ducasse, Dawkins, maybe Teller/Mcdermott - and thats because they're under contract. I think they need to bring in 3 new guys though. WR they need at least 2 new starters, and i think the depth can improve too.
  8. I'm in on another QB. I am not in on another 1st round QB.
  9. Yeah - they really don't give you tons of flexibility with 53. 45 on game days and 3 specialists. Considering the frequency of injuries in the NFL you'd think they would want more active. But that would lower minimum contracts - or adjust the owners revenue split. Can't wait to watch him though...
  10. I'm down to take another QB - if theres a like really solid prospect at another position it'd give me pause though. I absolutely want to draft someone in the middle rounds though. Petermans got to go, and i think with someone raw like allen we could use a 3rd QB anyway. I know it's tricky with the reps though.
  11. Posed this question to someone else - do you think Buffalo makes the playoffs in 2017 with Pat Mahomes at pick 10? I'd argue no... Tyrod probably still would've started, Mahomes probably doesn't take the job from him as he's raw and Dennison was a terrible OC. I think the talent deficiencies on the offense would have also made him struggle considerably more. Also - Tre white literally won us 2 games last year and without him we probably had the worst CBs in the NFL.
  12. I just wouldn't take it off the table. I'd run the routes, make people play off soft coverage trying to anticipate the throw and figure out other ways to beat them. Be it out and up/hitch and go, or just double moves to get the corners turned around some.
  13. It's tough though - the best trade back options are if there's a super good player who falls to us at say 4... or QB. If none of the QBs make it in that 1-5 zone its hard to trade back.
  14. You can go to the sidelines, you just have to ya know... time it right, and read the play. The pick 6's he's thrown have been to receivers who are either not open, or the throws have been late. The one in houston - i saw nothing to think that that guy was open. Hopefully Edmunds is back - they need to play zone in this one, - and they may want to spy trubiskey, or figure out the best way to keep him in the pocket.
  15. Its honestly more exciting than watching another Anderson game. I've seen enough to know that he belongs in the film room, and on the sidelines, not on the field. Peterman has been so bad, that im excited to see if there's a chance for some random redemption - or another disaster.
  16. Fixing the o-line will help a ton. Get make-able 3rd downs. Get something resembling a big play. I like a john brown or williams with some speed. Maybe even a tate or hogan too, or a Demaryous thomas should he become available. Overhaul is needed at the WR position. If Pryor can do anything maybe keep him. Other than that I'm good with just Zay coming back. Ray Ray can try and make the roster, but so far they can't trust him on punts and he already got sent home from a road game so i don't like his chances. I know a lot of those guys aren't exactly young, but if the 1st rounder is in the top 5, and no one wants to trade up for a QB - i want the BPA 100%. We aren't a talented enough team to draft for a need like WR or interior Oline. If its a DT or a DE, bring him in. We're still in the building blocks stage.
  17. No... contenders add at the deadline. We are not a contender. Mccoy for a 5th isn't worth it. Tate makes less money this year and is better than Benjamin. I think Thomas would cost about the same... but is also better than Benjamin. What could we even get for Benjamin at this point...? He's a locker room distraction who hasn't been good in like 4 years. We could cut him... but we would still pay him
  18. The other team never blitzes because our oline isn't good - so screens aren't effective. They play tons of press man with a single high look.. because our receivers struggle to create separation deep. They need to be running timing routes like hitches, and rub routes, back shoulders. Throwing in some crossers. We have QBs who aren't good at beating man, and our running game isn't good. It's not all on shady. The blocking is bad on a lot of those losses.
  19. He came with an extra year last year - I'm saying we couldn't trade him this year with his salary
  20. Yeah most of these guys are rentals. Kb would be a rental - but he sucks and his salary is super high. No one wants him
  21. Which is okay. Spend some. Save some. It rolls over
  22. It's the first year where theres an actual cap savings to getting rid of clay - but its only 4.5 million. If any of these guys brings a cap charge of 4.5 million... they had better be a lot better than clay - which I'm not sure they are.
  23. I just think the price is higher than swapping a 4th and a 6th. Especially if its going to cost a decent chunk of cap space (5 mil plus the dead money from boyd's deal). Plus why dump cheap players? If Ross deserved to play he'd be on the field, and boyd would be cheap depth.
  24. The lowest ranked rushing offense in the playoffs last year was the titans at 15. Super bowl champs were 3rd, the jags were 1st, the panthers and saints were 4th and 5th. Buffalo vikings chiefs rams and patriots were all top 10. So it seems like running the ball is kind of important to winning, and to scoring points. The defense part seems a bit unfounded too. Seattle was good because of defense and won a super bowl. Denver won a super bowl with gimpy armed peyton. The harbaughs played in the super bowl with top defenses.
  25. Ross has 7 career catches in 2 years, and Boyds their 2nd leading receiver and even more important with Eifert out. Boyd's also under contract in 2019for a cap hit at 1.3 million. Benjamin would cost them more than boyd costs over 2 seasons, and is a worse player at this point. So i have to use cap space in 2018 for benjamin, and then get nothing in 2019. This would barely make sense if benjamin was actually good - which he is not.
