The draft is like a month and a half after free agency opens.

I don't think there's a single scout out there who has 3 guys tied at the top of the list. If they love Allen, someone else might love him more and trade up at 3. Then you end up with a guy you don't like as much. It's the most important position on the field... you have to endlessly scout and interview these guys. It's about fit as much as anything else.

I mean... trading 4 and like a 4th for 21, 2 2nd's, and some picks in 2019 would be a pretty solid haul. if you can get 6 picks in the first 100 between 2018 and 2019 that's a lot of players. And they will still get their QB at 1. They are in a good spot for drafting purposes... but when you go 0-16 that means player development, and draft strategy in the last 3-5 years has been incredibly poor. Many of the players picked in that time frame have to be replaced.

He's either tagged, or going somewhere where he'll get his targets. I think he wants to win, but he also wants to be paid #1 money and get #1 targets. SF seems like a good spot. Maybe the Jets if they add Cousins. Dallas if they dump dez.

Kizer completed 53% of his passes and threw 22 ints. But the fact that they lost EVERY game, is an indicator that they aren't a QB away. They need to address that position, but they need to stock up on picks too. New GM who may want to get rid of some of the previous regime's guys as well. Good point. Either way - Position needs an upgrade, and trading back from 4 to get a bunch of players may be in their best interest in adding talent to a team that has won 1 game in 2 years.

Truly sucks for the kid.. From a selfish fan perspective - I think he's off the table in round 1, which is good. Not a big fan of a first round center unless its late in the first. I'm fine with him later in the draft, just not in round 1. Our o-line isn't great by any means.. but the holes at d-line, LB, and QB loom very large at the moment.

Panthers Cut RB Jonathan Stewart

Should be interesting to see... Daboll has been handcuffed with some pretty lousy QBs so I think he'll definitely want to get that position right this time. Another running back will likely be on the short list - but i think they want someone who can catch and line up in multiple positions. -

I'm not sure how Stewart fits in a Daboll offense. Seems to value some level of versatility. We'll see though. -

Had a gaudy 77 yards on 28 carries against our very own buffalo bills. -
Preston Brown thinks he can help the Patriots

Brown had a lot of issues with zone coverage this year. I just seem to remember constantly being either too deep or too shallow and getting beat at the sticks on 3rd and long. -

He's familiar with Beane and McD so I wouldn't rule it out. Peterson was about the same age and got 2 years 7 million 2.5 guaranteed. Peterson was also a much better player before age 31. I don't think we'd offer 2 years, or a guarantee of much at all. Gillislee was too rich at 2 years 6.4 million (frontloaded to a 4 million cap hit). Its a backup running back, who doesn't catch the ball out of the backfield. So it's hard to value him much at all without some versatility. Not sure how he fits here. -

I do feel like their o-line was kinda bad last year. -
Interesting Tyrod Stat from Mike Rodak

I mean... the worst QB performance I've EVER seen at ANY level... was against the Chargers. I'm sure there's someone else... right? I'd rather have Gabbert than peterman starting. -
Sam Darnold not throwing at combine

At his pro day he chooses who the receiver is. Most good prospects look better at their pro days anyway, as its much more favorable conditions. He'll have time to practice with his own guys. Not be judged on his ability to throw to a guy he may literally have never met. -

He'd be overpaid as a backup... but after watching the following people play football, i don't even think its always a bad decision to pay a fair amount for a backup Savage Simien Hundley Beathard Fitz Osweiler Gabbert Stanton Moore Petty Yates Hogan Kizer Lynch Manuel Fales Glennon Brisset Cassel I mean - Arizona and denver don't even have QBs. We saw what happened when Watson went down. I'm sure Ravens fans would love to trot ryan mallet out again. Or for the packers/colts to have to lose a whole season because they can't win a game under Hundley/brisset. Especially after watching minnesota and philly ride their backups to the playoffs. -

A - Probably teams who have been really bad for a while now, or someone who has a young QB and no viable backup. The team's he's played on have won more games than they have lost, and they didn't exactly have all-pro receivers and linemen. B - If we don't plan to use the cap space, maybe? It also functions as a protection should we not be able to sign anyone pre-draft. c - Going into the draft with nate peterman at QB will make it patently obvious what we plan to do with the 21/22 picks.
