  1. I'd keep him - there's the potential to be an NFL starter. Holmes and Streater are both 30 and neither has shown much.
  2. Well we were constantly in 3rd and long because of penalties and poor execution. You can toss a 3 yard out on 3rd and long... because no one cares if you complete it.
  3. I guess? We made a troubled DT a franchise cornerstone despite numerous red flags. That's really what ended up undoing everything. Dareus had 10 sacks and was 1st team all-pro. Then he got paid and has 7.5 sacks since. He spent 2 first round picks on a non-QB who isn't even probably a top 5 receiver in the 2014 draft class (Beckham, Landry, Evans, Cooks, Adams, Benjamin). Drafted Kouandjio in the same draft - swing and a miss. Outside of Watkins, we got 1 use-able player in the entire draft in preston brown. Married himself to Manuel instead of taking another shot in 2014 with someone like Garoppolo, Carr, or Bridgewater. Used all his ammo up on the watkins trade. This also caused us to not even have a shot at a QB in 2015 - as again - we were incredibly short of picks. Then in 2016 doubled-down on Rex and Tyrod for some reason and burned a draft class on a bunch of mediocre players. Instead of looking at the 2 QBs at the top of the draft - and the 2 teams who wanted to trade down. He tried to save his job and get that playoff spot, instead of build a franchise built to sustain. EDIT - Add on the bryce brown trade, signing harvin twice, and extending Tyrod as things that damage his credibility. He didn't really sniff an NFL job after his tenure here either.
  4. I'm more concerned with the lack of murphy than anything else. I knew coming in not to expect a ton from lotulelei. I expect him to be better than what we trotted out there at the end of 2016. I'm not sure how much better though - nor do i think he will outpace or even earn the dollars we gave him.
  5. It depends on his extension - odd's are they would load him up with full guarantees to 2019/2020 base salarys, and a hefty signing bonus - to keep his base salary pretty low this year. So probably 20 mil-ish bonus - 30 mil in 2019/2020 salary, and 10 mil this year. So about 60 million fully guaranteed, and 2021 being practically guaranteed with some kind of "if hes on the roster on x date, 2021 salary becomes guaranteed - etc so that numbers closer to 75. So you end up with something like 6 years probably close to 130-140 million or so - with say 70-80 being fully guaranteed. And the contracts built to lower base salary if you need to. This estimates an overpay after donald resets the market.
  6. We are 11 million under the cap for this year. That carries over into 2019 and gets added to our salary cap.
  7. We aren't paying his base salary this year though - The dead money is money we already gave him.
  8. Dareus was cash savings - and cap savings.
  9. They traded talent and bad contracts in 2017 to acquire picks to get their QB in 2018. They got their QB in 2018 - and managed to snag a MLB that they like a lot. In doing so we ate a ton of money in 2017, and didnt carry over much space. We also now carry the highest dead cap number in 2018. Therefore we have essentially the cheapest roster in the nfl of just roster players. Looking at past re-builds, teams that try to rush it end up causing a delay on the next rebuild. Good players on bad contracts are as bad for a team as bad players. We're set to carry over probably about 10 million, and projected to have probably close to 60 - so free agency is fair game, and we were able to keep the 2019 draft class intact. They're building from the ground up, and started at the most important position. The rams and eagles both looked pretty poor in 2016 - and added a lot of players in 2017 to pretty solid results. The rams did a 1 yr overhaul on their O-line and it helped a ton. They had a completely new set of receivers by the end of 2017 as well. The eagles also brought in receivers that better fit what they were trying to do.
  10. Just gotta run the ball and get yourself ahead of the sticks. Millers penalties and general o-line mistakes put us in 3rd and longs all half. You can't get the ball out super quick on 3rd and long and expect to get first downs.
  11. Its eye opening honestly how badly they have played. Miller can't handle stunts and speed, Groy/Bodine are often not even blocking anyone, ducasse has no anchor and legit looks awful, mills is as always - inconsistent, and newhouse was just plain bad. If you can't block 4 guys with 5, how are we going to pass the ball? That leaves 7 in coverage and with Peterman in they are going to take away the short middle of the field. Give him the boundary - because if he's late it's probably a pick, maybe a pick 6. Can probably play a ton of press coverage too, since his arm can't really beat you deep up the sideline.
  12. I say wait for cuts and sift through the trash. We can get some cap savings if we cut any of groy/newhouse/ducasse
  13. Just read this article - how are you supposed to make plays when they are rushing 4 or 5 guys and getting to you in under 2 seconds? Even quick stuff won't be there - because they literally didn't have to blitz to get to the QB.
  14. And if he wasn't we'd be asking why we let Whaley draft our qb before we fired him.
  15. He's honestly doing ok considering... The center and lg have been pushed back on almost every pass play. There's no where to step up or buy time
  16. Jesus 6 to block 4 and we can't even get enough time for a friggin hail mary
  17. Peterman struggles with pressure... Looks like he's gonna be seeing a fair amount of that
  18. I guess, he's thrown like 3 or 4 into coverage perfectly including the 2nd td.
  19. Dalton's honestly been really good so far. Timing is on, touch is perfect. He looks really solid.
