No - he's walking in 2019. You cannot extend him mid-season. If you want him - sign him in FA next year. Why trade future players to try and fix a bad team?

I try to give people the benefit of the doubt, but he just hasn't figured out how to separate. Its a big issue. I'd like to see more short timing stuff with him. Especially as it seems like loading the box and blitzing with man coverage is pretty much the plan to stop our offense.

If you could get something for benjamin sure. He just doesn't seem like a very good football player.

Get ahead of sticks - less likely to have penalties running than pass blocking - less likely to get turnovers - set up PA... Seems smart especially with a rookie QB.

They took a look at the receivers on the roster... And tried to upgrade them. He had raw abilities that we needed, especially speed. He was acquired for basically nothing meaning cutting him was never off the table. We can't complain about how bad the receivers are and not acknowledge them trying to get some talent in there. Not keeping him shows to me that he doesn't get it, and with all his talent he can't put it together.

It's different and unconventional. It's just an idea. Otherwise they go down the same road of either slowly beginning to rebuild their roster in year 1, or fully gutting their roster on year 2 or 3 of a QB contract. He seems like... a good not great QB. Somewhere around that dalton/flacco/tannehill level. They all have moments where they look great, and moments where they look inconsistent.

The idea is that the team will be dismantled if you extend him anyway. 5th year option buys you a year. Then he gets his extension and it becomes a major problem to keep players. The late round guy would be brought in say - this years draft in the 3rd. Then when goff hits 5th year option, you can look to move him if you are comfortable with the 3rd rd replacement for at least a year (he's had time in the offense, etc). And can use the picks you get to replenish depth, and possibly draft the next goff. It is not conventional - but the article shows how teams with expensive QBs aren't doing particularly hot anyway - Ravens, Bengals, Raiders, 49ers, Colts, Lions, Chargers - etc. You keep the strong defense together, you keep your top level playmakers, and you build in the trenches. It also becomes a QB desirable location from a FA perspective if you need a player for a year.

If hyde or poyer were hurt for an extended period of time i would have liked to see him brought in. Haven't seen dollars yet, but i don't envision him as a 3rd safety here with the big-nickel that buffalo likes to play. But if hyde or poyer was hurt i think he would've been a good replacement.

I like the thought process behind this - if you move Goff for a 1st (or more) to a QB-desperate team you can draft his replacement and maintain the majority of your core. I would also probably be taking shots every year at QBs if that was the case. Find a late round gem and hes even cheaper than a 1st rounder on a rookie contract.

If a ball carrier goes out of bounds with the ball, the game clock temporarily stops. Yea- i dont think they would lose a depth receiver in a situation like that. An injury could really hamper what theyre trying to do IE. super bowl aspirations.

Yeah - i love that pistol set with backs on both sides and someone like ivory behind allen. So many ways to attack with it. If they load up heavy in the box you can motion shady wide and create a mismatch. You can run triple option, straight speed option, RPOs, whatever you want really.

Ivory made a nice play to get open on a scramble drill. Our receivers need to improve on that aspect to help allen.

Lol good point - the 2nd half was kind of a blur and i was cooking burgers for some of it and trying to watch on my ipad.

Ivory looked solid this week. I wouldn't take him out. We also seemed to execute sweeps a lot better when we had dimarco in. He only featured on a few plays, but he seemed solid. We wanted to attack boundaries in this one. I really liked dabolls game plan in this one. Dimarco won't feature in every week, and it really reminds me of the way NE game plans. They will always come in with a plan that changes week to week, and focuses on the specific matchup.

He had a few runs that were blown up, but he was able to get back to the LOS. I felt that was important because we look terrible when we're behind the sticks. O-line had a few solid ones, but they really have to limit the negative ones. Ivory made a few plays in the passing game, as they attacked the man coverage with lots of pre-snap motion and getting backs in 1x1s on the outside. But in all he grabbed us the few first downs in the 2nd half we needed in this one to ice the game. They knew we were running and we were still able to execute fairly well.

Rafael bush is currently our big nickel 3rd safety, and he's not very good.

Adam Gase is one of those people who likes to throw a lot of really short passes/run the ball - then blow the top off the d when they cheat up. Just kind of his style i think - and it works with tannehill

His receivers showed up there too in the 2nd half and made a few really nice catches. Landry pulling that 30 yarder down with a hand in his face is why they paid him the big bucks. Honestly happy Landry isn't in the division anymore. He doesn't seem to be limited to the way the fins used him at all.

I'm aware - just saying i think 2 make it from the west. So if that iss the case, the north is playing for 2 spots between 4 teams. I don't know that they're going go get the 9-10 wins needed there with their schedule.

Maybe he's pressing to make an impact. It also hurts that he missed most of camp. He seems to be struggling to figure out how to get open on press coverage too. That takes time to figure out how not to tip your route, and how to use the corners hips and leverage against them in that phone booth type of situation.
