  1. My guess? Kubiaks like - we got this with case keenum. And Elway disagreed.
  2. The issue with Roman is - its more complex than maybe it needs to be? Tons of formations, tons of running plays - all this means is it tends to take longer to get plays in. This gets you to the line late... this makes it harder to set protection, use pre-snap motion, and even get the snap off in time. It wasn't just Tyrod, he had the same problems in SF. It's like the opposite of mcvay - who wants you lined up while he's still in the headset. If he can clean up that aspect of his game-calling i think he'll do just fine. His offense is tailor made for LJ. The 3rd read is like... always to run. You have a high sack rate but tend to actually not lose a ton of yards on the sacks. Take some deep shots - lots of hitches and out routes. Easy reads - its there or it isn't. If it isn't, RUN. Tyrod Taylor Reunion?
  3. I say keep him through camp and let him earn a job. He still has value to me as a 3rd down style guy - can block, can catch, still tough to tackle. I think his days as a 20 carry bell cow are done though. The 7 million we save by cutting him isn't money that we need at the moment. I mean - bring in others. He should feel like his job is on the line... because it is.
  4. Some guard we've never heard of who ends up being. i dunno - fine. haha
  5. Not what i was trying to say - Im saying a lameduck GM isn't making the call. It would be McD. And i don't think he fancies himself a QB evaluator, especially when he only saw him at a pro day/combine. But appreciate the sass for no reason.
  6. Jameis just seems like... i dunno- he makes a fair amount of good throws. But man does he occasionally have some stinkers. And just generally a few times a game you go... what are you doing?! walking into sacks, throwing into coverage, sailing throws over the middle, poor ball control
  7. No such thing as QB Purgatory. Tanking or trading up are both options.
  8. 1 - We had a lameduck GM who we didn't want drafting our QB of the future 2 - Mahomes was a Junior and didn't attend the senior bowl. 3 - McD drafted mostly players who attended the senior bowl with Milano the main exception (Tre White, Zay Jones, Dion Dawkins, Nate Peterman) I don't think mahomes would really thrive here without Reid TBH - a seasoned QB coach and Offensive guy. Not to mention our trainwreck of a line, and our utter lack of weapons. Imagine that no look pass bouncing off of benjamins chest ? And our defense would be pretty lousy without white and edmunds. I'm not sure we'd be like... drafting another QB, but I'm not sure we're much better off than we are right now.
  9. I love that Brandon is gone. He really was like a dark cloud over the organization - we were 6-10 this year and i feel like we have a brighter future than we ever had in the past.
  10. Size works really well if there is some semblance of effort - especially regarding blocking. But beyond just blocking - shedding press coverage you will have an advantage with size. You also obviously have height advantage for jump balls and 50/50 passes. None of this matters if you can't run routes to get open, or catch the ball. The size receivers we brought in could not get open OR catch the ball. AJ Green, Mike Evans - to a lesser extent Funchess, M. Williams, Golladay, and Sutton. When these guys are getting open, and making plays - very hard to stop those offenses. They're a mismatch on every play and if they're physical blockers its even better. Can't stretch the field without size, and you'll struggle against press coverage with only speed. Route running and hands really are the most important assets though.
  11. I don't think he's married to Winston. I think they could be in play for Foles, Carr, even Tannehill.
  12. WR coaches often want to be QB coaches and Coordinators. We have a couple openings now - and i do think Culley has his eyes set to be the replacement unless someone else were to be brought in.
  13. I mean - the key is constantly re-upping the pipeline. Trying to identify young up and coming coaches. Daboll and Culley seem to form the nucleus of what they are trying to do moving forward - but if Daboll were to get a HC job I assume they are intending to groom Culley to replace him as primary playcaller? He worked under Reid as the WR coach for what 20 something years? The other option is outside the organization - which is always tricky especially with them likely wanting their own QB coaches etc. I wonder if Derek Anderson is using his Bills job to try and learn more about coaching as well to someday kind of follow in a similar pattern. Back-up QBs seem to head in the direction of coaching more than broadcasting.
  14. I wonder if he preferred to work with one GM over another. Leash might be a bit longer with the Cardinals as well considering they were the worst team in the league a year ago vs. the Jets wanting to invest and win now.
  15. Thats why my original guess was Tyrod. Let the chips fall and add someone at the end for less money and hopefully Smith is able to come back.
  16. They don't have any money to get a QB and they only gain 4 mil in cap by dumping bortles - They're currently 7 mil over the cap in 2019 . Jackson or dareus are both likely cut. If they want a QB worth anything they're going to have to cut both. And that's before drafting. They're most likely moving on from their top 5 pick RB, and losing all the other backs , Moncrief, their starting center and guard. They got a lot of holes and QB is only one of them. It's not a good QB draft they are saying - so that means you can probably grab a replacement DT in the first who can step in and help right away. But you're rebuilding the line, and depending on what you spend to get a QB, you're probably still weak at wide receiver. All this gets is a top heavy roster with players like Ngakoue and Ramsey who want to be paid in the top tier at their position - and like 0 depth.
  17. You almost have to gut the team to keep Foles though - I'm not sure Pederson would want to do that. At the very least you're cutting your starting LT in Peters, and probably trading Agholor for... nothing (and they already lose Tate). Might have to move on from Bennett or Long (not ideal when you already lose Graham), and possibly Kelce. Doing all that allows you to keep both QBs, add some depth players, and maybe make a play to sign some contributors in free agency. Free Agents make more money than the guys you have though so its tough. Agholor, Peters, and Long are the likely trio i would move on from. 9 million seems to be a lot for a slot receiver who hasn't had that good of production, Peters is 36 and banged up a lot, and Long isn't worth the contract. This assumes that Foles wants to stay, and is fine with playing without an extension (incredibly unlikely). I think if they agree to the option it's easier to negotiate an extension - it wouldn't have the same limitations that a franchise tag has where the extension has to be met by a certain time. Foles can also just opt out for 2 mil and just sign where he wants and leave philly with nothing unless they tag.
  18. I think TT is the placeholder while Smith finishes rehab - but i see where you're going. Maybe Carr ends up there then? Foles issue is money - theyre over the cap and they're immediately under if they trade him/release him - not necessarily if they try to trade Wentz. They'll still have to cut people to try and bring in impact players - but they're over the cap while losing darby and graham. What's the point in patchworking a mediocre team when you have no QB. If it doesn't work in 2019 they're going to have to blow it all up. Bortles kept/traded/cut murders their cap space no matter what - and why push money into 2020 when its likely that you can't win in 2019.
  19. My guess Tannehill - Jacksonville - He's good at handoffs and dumpoffs Flacco - Oakland/Vegas with a rookie behind him. I don't think they can move carr for much of anything as his base salary is very high for a back-up QB. Tyrod - Washington Foles - Miami - This probably depends on the coach, but i assume he'd want to go to NYG with Shurmur... but they won't trade in the division and i think Miami may give them the best offer of picks/players Manning - i think he sticks for a year with a rookie eventually taking over. If not, Fitzpatrick and a rookie. Bridgewater - Tampa Carr - New Orleans, Cincinnati, or New England I think RG3 sticks in baltimore as LJ's backup
  20. Philly managed to make it work with Foles for this year - they can't for next year. If they move on from Wentz I'd be very surprised. They should move Foles for the best pick they can get - it won't be the giants who won't be trading their 1st this year, but someone else very well might.
  21. Not sure how much longer Kiko will be around - he's not very good and he's dirty.
  22. That's a red flag - especially regarding the wonderlic score. Agent's know what will get you drafted - and a higher wonderlic score is one of those things as a QB. They'll help you practice, hire you tutors - whatever. It's all included in the umbrella of the services that they provide. They also help you secure advertising deals, etc. Reputable agents (strong emphasis on reputable...) can also put you in touch with wealth management professionals to help with long term planning. If I were his agent and that's how he did on the practices - might have figured out a way to just... not take the test ?
  23. Fisher is a D guy though. Frank Cignetti and Rob Boras were the OC's in 2016 which was Foles only year with the rams. Neither of them had ever called plays in the NFL prior to 2016 - and Boras called plays again in 2017 and was just as bad with Goff as anyone else. Foles was pretty good in his first 2 years starting under chip kelly. Even almost won a playoff game against New Orleans in year 1, before breaking his collarbone in year 2. Since that bad year with St. Louis he's actually been really good.
  24. yeah - if he can win them another it's all worth it. Moving forward they have a complete lack of cap space - and the only way to make cap space is to cut valuable contributors. Foles needs to be traded for cap relief (assuming he agrees to the option), and they'd still need to maneuver some pieces (trade agholor for pennies on the dollar, or release peters, or release Kelce, or release Chris long) to be at all flexible in free agency. If they don't trade him, they likely need to do several of those moves just to get under the cap. They also lose Darby, Tate, and Graham for nothing - so they'll probably end up with some comp picks in 2020. I think 2019 will be a rough year for the Eagles - unless they have a 2018 jags year and no one gets hurt.
