I think the point is - within the past 2 decades we have had and drafted talented receivers and failed to utilize them. Either it was because of the QB, or by design (building a running offense). WRs don't typically strive to sign with a team where their numbers will suffer, and for a team has made the playoffs once in the last 20 years. You need to win, and you need to show players that you are going to use them.

Yep. I don't mind a team that runs the ball. But do it for a reason. Like if you play say - the cardinals. Who have the worst rush defense in the NFL. The strategy should dictate in that game that you can probably just run it to either take a lead or keep a lead. But when you're playing a team like KC or the Rams or NE. The strategy dictates that you need to get first downs, stay on the field, and score points. Not - get a lead and run it til the games over. You have to be able to do this to win.

I mean - I think they would like to? I think last year was about getting the QB they wanted. Doug Whaley called it "QB purgatory" - and beane made moves to acquire picks in a draft that was rich with QBs and got their guy. Whether he's the right guy - whatever. Hopefully this year they are using the cap space, and additional draft capital to make a few moves to improve the offense. I don't know that you can totally overhaul it in a year - but the bears took a few shots last year and it really helped Trubiskey. Hopefully Daboll opens things up a bit more, gets his backs involved in the passing game, and starts actually attacking on offense. Instead of just... running the ball and trying not to lose.

Case Keenum traded to Redskins

I don't think he chose to get traded... he was still under contract. -
Screw Rotoworld's Buffalo Bashing
Bleeding Bills Blue replied to Inigo Montoya's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Someone posted this on PFT and i thought it was kind of interesting: This is something the owners should address in the next CBA. I’m all for players requesting a trade. But, teams who have paid a player a signing bonus to enter into an agreement with the player for services over a certain time should have the ability to go after the signing bonus when a player intentionally damages his value while attempting to force a trade. When a team cuts a player, the player gets to hang on to his signing bonus. When a player “cuts” the team, he should have to pay it back. -
If I'm the owner it becomes a standoff - show up for work. Otherwise i'll fine you/not pay you. If you show up and are a distraction trying to force a trade (a la jimmy butler) - i'll change your position. You're now the backup center for the steelers - enjoy. I'm sure a bunch of UDFA's would love to tee off on this guy.

Screw Rotoworld's Buffalo Bashing
Bleeding Bills Blue replied to Inigo Montoya's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The steelers as a franchise have a history of success - buffalo a history of failure. So that is a downgrade - as a life downgrade i look at it like endorsements and fame. You have a better chance for a greater amount of those money and fame in Pitt/California/Florida/NY than you do in Buffalo. Those are facts. -
Second String Movie

Might have made more sense if they just died - a bit morbid... but a month for food poisoning? Seems a bit far-fetched. -

Is this a "ralph is cheap" thing? Also - cheers to you noticing that during a 2 hour TV movie. -

So... There were legit no like qualified free agent QBs? Madden lists like 50 available guys at every position - none of those guys wanted to play? -
Very true - just gets you to theoretically control players during a longer development cycle. NFL teams have such thin rosters as it stands anyway, and a lot i assume has to do with the revenue split and having so few games.

Why not Eric Weddle for a year?
Bleeding Bills Blue replied to Seasons1992's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The 2 safeties we have play their roles pretty well - hyde can even move inside and play some nickel if needed. Emergence of Wallace and Johnson last year made the CB group a lot stronger. If you think someone might be an upgrade over Rafael bush in a "big nickel" - then i'd be interested. There aren't cap ramifications if we cut Bush, and or he could play more of a reserve role. -
Minor league sports typically work with affiliation with the major league. AHL, Minor league baseball, even G-league. The salaries for the players are typically handled in some way shape or form by the major league team - so marketing, concessions, stadium, etc. can all be handled by the owner of the minor league team. It seems like this works better for ownership as the salaries for minor league players are lower than if they are promoted to the majors - you still have team control over the development etc. The minor league owner can focus more on getting people to come watch games. Yeah - like the most popular bisons game's have bobblehead giveaways, or star wars night. Every minor league team does these weird promotions because they can make it back on concessions, merch, etc. TV is probably eating up like the entire marketing budget though - minor league sports just don't air on network TV for any sport. I wonder if XFL is thinking they need to do the same thing to be viable - or if they can try and set it up more like a streaming type service while assuming AAF can't sustain the losses they're probably incurring to be on network TV.

The like .1% conversion rate is pretty annoying. You're more likely to just kick it straight out of bounds than actually get the ball back. Can you still sneak an onside kick in?

No franchise Tag for Foles
Bleeding Bills Blue replied to IgotBILLStopay's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Gotta get under the cap first ? Yeah - they could have had a pretty good deal for him. Tyrod got pick 65 last offseason and Foles was Super bowl MVP. -
Who would you take, D. K. or T. J.?
Bleeding Bills Blue replied to Peace Frog's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I dunno - Witten wasn't very fast and what'd he catch like a thousand passes? Same goes for Kelce and Gronk - None of these guys runs faster than 4.7. -
Article for those obsessing about Metcalf
Bleeding Bills Blue replied to TigerJ's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Super athletic players flame out all the time - i don't care much for combine numbers when it hasn't translated on the field much. His 3 year stat line looks like a good 1 year stat line. How is that not an issue? Isn't it strange that AJ Brown put up significantly better numbers every year? Using the old 100 yard baseline - Metcalf had 4 100 yard games in his 3 year's playing. Brown had 4 100 yard games in his last 5 games of his time at Ole Miss. Better do your homework on this kid if you like him with a 1st round pick. Is he open and his QBs just preferred throwing to the other guy? -
