  1. He'd be crazy to play on that deal. I know people will be like ohhh he signed the deal, but its rookie slotted and its the 5th year option. They can still tag him again next year if he plays under his current deal. That would come out to 17.9 + projected 24.5M. Blow out your knee in any of the next 2 seasons and that 100M+ payday goes away. Jefferson got 140 and 110 guaranteed.
  2. Not gonna say allen steered into it, but he didn't exactly move off his spot either.
  3. It's tough - even at his position he's not necessarily top 10 and its 100 players across all positions.
  4. Jets gonna jet though... Here's why it could fail - NATE HACKETT IS THE OFFENSIVE COORDINATOR Rodgers does diva things or gets injured Stud left tackle has missed time in every season since 2015 and is 34... misses time New right tackle is 33 years old. Not everyone at the position ages gracefully. New LG was on a practice squad as of 2023 and doesn't meet expectations on his new deal. Vera-tucker injury risk, coming off an achilles last year and a torn tricep the year prior. Depth behind Williams (30 years old coming off ACL injury) and Wilson is poor. Will McDonald doesn't become the pass rusher that they need. Reddick struggles on a defense that doesn't blitz Hall doesn't live up to his considerable hype
  5. I'm 5'8" 210 and i say the same thing. Beyond injury risk... functionally.. a player that light can't be as effective against press coverage, physical man coverage in general, or as a blocker. Even the best techniques are going to be limited by your size.
  6. Johnson ran his at 5'11 197 - small for a running back at the time (and even by many of todays standards), but i'd say within 10 LBs of ideal. Worthy ran his at 5'11 165 - among the lightest players in the NFL currently, and probably 25 lb's short of someone like tyreek who is already undersized at the position. Broncos signed some tiny UDFA, and theres the CB forbes from last year that come to mind as the smallest in the league. Size and strength aren't everything, but that is a very slight build and adding to it would very likely affect the speed trait that they wanted when they drafted him. Just feels like an injury risk to me.
  7. While i don't disagree that the rush defense was a problem at times last year - I would think the 4 turnovers against the jets and broncos were larger factors in losing those games. The jets rush total had an 83 yard run that resulted in 3 points. Losing milano hurts the rush defense quite a bit - and the worst game of the year for the front 7 was the game where he played 11 snaps against the jaguars. Another front-7 player who was hurt in the jaguars game was Daquan jones, who played 4 snaps. They ran over us in that one, and i'm not sure getting smaller was going to help there.
  8. I think arguments can be made that he was undeserving of his 2nd MVP award, but his first one? I don't know who else you could even say. He lead the NFL in passing TDs, top 5 in basically all passing efficiency metrics, 6th in the NFL in rushing yards, and they had the best rushing offense in NFL history - Most yards in a season and highest team YPC average.
  9. Honestly it seems kind of challenging. You have to learn the offense inside and out and be helpful in the room - also need to understand how the defense is going to counter you. Got a headset on so you're hearing the playcalls and often the first person to talk to the starter after they come off the field. You also need to learn opponents offenses week in and week out and essentially perform with the scout team certain plays and looks from their film. They used to have a 3rd string guy who could do a lot of this, but now you just have the practice squad where those players tend to be developmental.
  10. i mean... He didn't play and he didn't get hurt so I'd assume he just gives it back. I assume team lawyers and player agents can figure this out for him.
  11. I wouldn't travel for it, but backup QB against his former team in the preseason? Could be fun. About as compelling as these preseason games get.
  12. I like to watch josh allen highlights before big presentations for work. Sometimes literally in the bathroom 5 minutes before. I have a problem...
  13. The other thing to note is how him and mahomes have such low sack rates. Sacks are drive killers as much as interceptions. Also, why is Tampa not on this list? I just looked it up for my own sanity (2 good brady years, 1 rough year, and 1 solid mayfield year). 378/896 for 42.2%.
  14. He's the same dude he's always been - a glorified H-Back. Not strong enough or effective enough as an in-line blocker. All of his big plays come from breaking tackles on short routes - because he's not a good route runner and he has inconsistent hands. Athlete who never developed into a particularly notable football player. Lot of dudes who can catch 3 yard out routes on that team, and he's not likely the top pick to do so. Enjoy your time in Miami collecting checks for riding the pine.
  15. That's always the tough part IMO. Longevity for the sake of longevity shouldn't get you in. You should need to be among the best at your position for some stretch of a long career. But how many games... should you need? Davis won an MVP and 2 OPOYs, a super bowl MVP, cracked 2000 yards in a season, and has 1140 yards and 12 TDs across 8 playoff games (6th all time, in half as many games as each of the 5 ahead of him). It's basically all over a 4 year period though which feels too short.
  16. Ruggs did something similar and his career is over. Addison might not even get a suspension. Yes lives matter and that will affect the jailtime and career. But not suspending a player charged with DUI is weird to me... when the DUI part of the Ruggs situation is why he's out of the league. The punishment is to discourage the behavior - so personally i think they SHOULD suspend players after DUI convictions. Lawyers are expensive and... they aren't cheaper because you're in the NFL. If anything they probably know they can bill you extra.
  17. Can't say i blame you after that. I wore a bills jersey (albeit a white one) to KC and nobody really gave me any trouble. Lots of 13 seconds ribbing, but we won so I suppose I got the last laugh.
  18. I think we're in the best position we've been in yet to combat the jets defense. 2 TE's and a big bodied WR - a lot you can do there but i expect to see a lot of shakir/samuel/cook in those games. A variety of quick weapons - feature them in screens, slants, swings, etc. and force their handsy CBs who love to talk... to shed and tackle.
  19. I think with a good QB in an NFL style offense he looks like a dangerous player. Powerful size advantage, and a pretty good head on his shoulders it seems from a football IQ standpoint. NFL offenses use option routes a lot to create space based on coverage reads, and Allen can put the ball anywhere on the field. Its the offseason and nothing is happening but color me excited that this kid could have a big year. Being a strong dude also gives him 3 down potential because of his blocking. I'm not sure how he'll handle iso press man, but you can also move him inside off the line on money downs.
  20. Probably Mahomes but at the same time - its far more confidence than i have in buffalo preventing a FG if bass makes the one to tie the game. Doesn't even need to be mahomes mistake that can cost them too - a bad snap, a missed block, a holding penalty, a fumble, etc. There's a lot of things that can happen there and needing 7 instead of 3 amplifies every yard.
  21. Well the TD is a 4 point lead (assuming bass makes the kick - probably from his good hash so i'd think he does) so... the whole 13 seconds argument isn't the same. https://www.pro-football-reference.com/boxscores/202210160kan.htm - I was at this game and Buffalo took a 4 point lead with 1:04 left and mahomes threw a pick. 75 yards to the endzone in under a minute is tougher than 75 yards in 1:55 with 2 timeouts. Challenge is still the same to me though - they had 3 TDs on 7 full drives. 4 downs always gives you an extra play so the 4 point lead can make a tie game completely different. I just felt like KC wasn't playing well in the 4th quarter, and they wouldn't have enough time to really lean on the running game that was really moving in that one.
  22. Pretty much where I'm at. 3 locks in Samuel, Coleman, Shakir. 2 near locks in Hollins and MVS. 1 last spot potentially... and depends how they feel about any of the players there. Usually your 6th WR is a younger player developing, or a flexible player who can potentially play inside and out. Thomas fits the latter, and i don't see anyone on the boundary keeping him off the field if he were healthy. But he's never healthy, and probably doesn't want a deal in the MVS range.
  23. Roman's offense has complicated terminology, and always seems to struggle to get play calls in. There's little to no pre-snap motion unless its a jet motion play. Uses a ton of condensed formations. ajority of routes are flys, outs, comebacks, hitches. There isn't a ton of over the middle throws there because they are the most turnover worthy plays. The QB athleticism is used for read-option looks, but also to extend plays with scrambles. Every QB in a roman offense will be near the top of the league in sack% because plays take time to develop vs. the quick read offenses of today. The 3-point playoff game was the rick dennison offense (kubiak tree) - so a lot out outside zone and play action. Forcing tyrod to be a pocket passer was never a smart move, and resulted in his worst season as a starter in buffalo. It also wasn't a particularly good scheme for a back like shady as his strength is not as a one-cut back.
  24. He did. He also sucked down the stretch, and 7 of his 10.5 came in 4 games against Zach Wilson x2, Sam Howell, and Tyrod. Everyone pads stats against bad units, but thats 70% of his production in 4 games and 3.5 sacks in 15 games. I have a good feeling about him this year. Not sure why, but i'm optimistic he ends up being an impact player this year.
  25. I think its because Josh doesn't underthrow deep balls, and we didn't run a lot of back-shoulder stuff. Allen missed a lot of deep throws last year, and most of them were overthrows so there isn't really a chance for DPI. I think targeted players in contested catch situations will always result in more DPI and holding calls.
