  1. I wonder if he preferred to work with one GM over another. Leash might be a bit longer with the Cardinals as well considering they were the worst team in the league a year ago vs. the Jets wanting to invest and win now.
  2. Thats why my original guess was Tyrod. Let the chips fall and add someone at the end for less money and hopefully Smith is able to come back.
  3. They don't have any money to get a QB and they only gain 4 mil in cap by dumping bortles - They're currently 7 mil over the cap in 2019 . Jackson or dareus are both likely cut. If they want a QB worth anything they're going to have to cut both. And that's before drafting. They're most likely moving on from their top 5 pick RB, and losing all the other backs , Moncrief, their starting center and guard. They got a lot of holes and QB is only one of them. It's not a good QB draft they are saying - so that means you can probably grab a replacement DT in the first who can step in and help right away. But you're rebuilding the line, and depending on what you spend to get a QB, you're probably still weak at wide receiver. All this gets is a top heavy roster with players like Ngakoue and Ramsey who want to be paid in the top tier at their position - and like 0 depth.
  4. You almost have to gut the team to keep Foles though - I'm not sure Pederson would want to do that. At the very least you're cutting your starting LT in Peters, and probably trading Agholor for... nothing (and they already lose Tate). Might have to move on from Bennett or Long (not ideal when you already lose Graham), and possibly Kelce. Doing all that allows you to keep both QBs, add some depth players, and maybe make a play to sign some contributors in free agency. Free Agents make more money than the guys you have though so its tough. Agholor, Peters, and Long are the likely trio i would move on from. 9 million seems to be a lot for a slot receiver who hasn't had that good of production, Peters is 36 and banged up a lot, and Long isn't worth the contract. This assumes that Foles wants to stay, and is fine with playing without an extension (incredibly unlikely). I think if they agree to the option it's easier to negotiate an extension - it wouldn't have the same limitations that a franchise tag has where the extension has to be met by a certain time. Foles can also just opt out for 2 mil and just sign where he wants and leave philly with nothing unless they tag.
  5. I think TT is the placeholder while Smith finishes rehab - but i see where you're going. Maybe Carr ends up there then? Foles issue is money - theyre over the cap and they're immediately under if they trade him/release him - not necessarily if they try to trade Wentz. They'll still have to cut people to try and bring in impact players - but they're over the cap while losing darby and graham. What's the point in patchworking a mediocre team when you have no QB. If it doesn't work in 2019 they're going to have to blow it all up. Bortles kept/traded/cut murders their cap space no matter what - and why push money into 2020 when its likely that you can't win in 2019.
  6. My guess Tannehill - Jacksonville - He's good at handoffs and dumpoffs Flacco - Oakland/Vegas with a rookie behind him. I don't think they can move carr for much of anything as his base salary is very high for a back-up QB. Tyrod - Washington Foles - Miami - This probably depends on the coach, but i assume he'd want to go to NYG with Shurmur... but they won't trade in the division and i think Miami may give them the best offer of picks/players Manning - i think he sticks for a year with a rookie eventually taking over. If not, Fitzpatrick and a rookie. Bridgewater - Tampa Carr - New Orleans, Cincinnati, or New England I think RG3 sticks in baltimore as LJ's backup
  7. Philly managed to make it work with Foles for this year - they can't for next year. If they move on from Wentz I'd be very surprised. They should move Foles for the best pick they can get - it won't be the giants who won't be trading their 1st this year, but someone else very well might.
  8. Not sure how much longer Kiko will be around - he's not very good and he's dirty.
  9. That's a red flag - especially regarding the wonderlic score. Agent's know what will get you drafted - and a higher wonderlic score is one of those things as a QB. They'll help you practice, hire you tutors - whatever. It's all included in the umbrella of the services that they provide. They also help you secure advertising deals, etc. Reputable agents (strong emphasis on reputable...) can also put you in touch with wealth management professionals to help with long term planning. If I were his agent and that's how he did on the practices - might have figured out a way to just... not take the test ?
  10. Fisher is a D guy though. Frank Cignetti and Rob Boras were the OC's in 2016 which was Foles only year with the rams. Neither of them had ever called plays in the NFL prior to 2016 - and Boras called plays again in 2017 and was just as bad with Goff as anyone else. Foles was pretty good in his first 2 years starting under chip kelly. Even almost won a playoff game against New Orleans in year 1, before breaking his collarbone in year 2. Since that bad year with St. Louis he's actually been really good.
  11. yeah - if he can win them another it's all worth it. Moving forward they have a complete lack of cap space - and the only way to make cap space is to cut valuable contributors. Foles needs to be traded for cap relief (assuming he agrees to the option), and they'd still need to maneuver some pieces (trade agholor for pennies on the dollar, or release peters, or release Kelce, or release Chris long) to be at all flexible in free agency. If they don't trade him, they likely need to do several of those moves just to get under the cap. They also lose Darby, Tate, and Graham for nothing - so they'll probably end up with some comp picks in 2020. I think 2019 will be a rough year for the Eagles - unless they have a 2018 jags year and no one gets hurt.
  12. Can they tag him if he pays back the bonus money?
  13. Rams are obviously the exception not the rule - but they run like 60 or more percent of plays in 11 personell. Most teams are closer to 60/40. It's super important in a 4 minute offense situation
  14. And i know just getting into college was a major struggle for him and his family. They spent a lot of time with tutors etc to get his grades up.
  15. The wonderlic was alarmingly low (13). Like did he study for it at all? He just doesn't sound like a polished smart starting QB. If he succeeds i think it will be a lot with his legs. Most of his yardage in college was actually on scrambles not designed runs, so we'll see what they create around him in 2019.
  16. Every team in the league still has at least 20% of their plays under center. Under center helps with the run game, creates space with PA, and slows pass rush with cadence changes.
  17. Logan Thomas also had a big frame and a cannon, and he went in the 4th. The issues with delivery, accuracy, eyes - they take a long time to develop if at all. Allen has platform problems, and accuracy issues because of it. His delivery is actually a strength, and his eyes have developed much more quickly than I thought they would. If he can clean up the platform then he should be a solid QB. I think buffalo also liked Allen's brain a lot - you can't really teach that. Yeah - teams walk away from those guys all the time so then you end up bouncing around the league. If you aren't a particularly hard worker/film guy you're probably going to flame out.
  18. Yep - when we had roman we ran a ton out of shotgun. When you do that read-option makes it difficult to know what side you're running to, but if you load the box and have speed it doesn't matter as they can beat you to the outside. If they take away the sidelines like that - you must use the middle of the field, and you must use more timing routes. Tyrod sucked at both of these. You also will probably want to run more from under center and use play action to create space. I thought for sure after the disaster series to start the 4th quarter.
  19. Has to go over the top - has to stand tall in the pocket - has to take what they give him. In a situation like that if I'm calling the game i know its going to be lots of zone so i probably line up tight and overload on sideline routes. Timing also has to be precise on the dig and hitch routes. I'd also use 12 formations and try and run in heavy sets and use PA. Passing is going to need to come from the pocket. We tried a lot of these things with Tyrod in these types of games and he always struggled with timing and hitting people as soon as they get open out of breaks. He always seemed to throw the deep over's out of bounds too... in a quarters level's situation that route will be open a lot but if you're late you end up throwing your guy out of bounds.
  20. Well they got by using his legs less for scrambling but for designed runs. Once that was taken away he struggled. The nasty pass rush of LA didn't help matters.
  21. "he only had 9 pass attempts in the first 3 quarters" - because he was sacked 5 times and fumbled twice. That would make 14 pass plays. He also missed converting on some short 3rd downs in the first 3 quarters. And the first drive of the 4th quarter - the MUST have if you want to have a shot at not needing tons of onside kicks. 3 pass plays called, -9 yards.
  22. His QB purgatory comment was the one that got me. You can move up or down in the draft. Most of the teams picking 1 or 2 over the past few years have traded there.
