  1. Might have made more sense if they just died - a bit morbid... but a month for food poisoning? Seems a bit far-fetched.
  2. Is this a "ralph is cheap" thing? Also - cheers to you noticing that during a 2 hour TV movie.
  3. So... There were legit no like qualified free agent QBs? Madden lists like 50 available guys at every position - none of those guys wanted to play?
  4. Very true - just gets you to theoretically control players during a longer development cycle. NFL teams have such thin rosters as it stands anyway, and a lot i assume has to do with the revenue split and having so few games.
  5. The 2 safeties we have play their roles pretty well - hyde can even move inside and play some nickel if needed. Emergence of Wallace and Johnson last year made the CB group a lot stronger. If you think someone might be an upgrade over Rafael bush in a "big nickel" - then i'd be interested. There aren't cap ramifications if we cut Bush, and or he could play more of a reserve role.
  6. Minor league sports typically work with affiliation with the major league. AHL, Minor league baseball, even G-league. The salaries for the players are typically handled in some way shape or form by the major league team - so marketing, concessions, stadium, etc. can all be handled by the owner of the minor league team. It seems like this works better for ownership as the salaries for minor league players are lower than if they are promoted to the majors - you still have team control over the development etc. The minor league owner can focus more on getting people to come watch games. Yeah - like the most popular bisons game's have bobblehead giveaways, or star wars night. Every minor league team does these weird promotions because they can make it back on concessions, merch, etc. TV is probably eating up like the entire marketing budget though - minor league sports just don't air on network TV for any sport. I wonder if XFL is thinking they need to do the same thing to be viable - or if they can try and set it up more like a streaming type service while assuming AAF can't sustain the losses they're probably incurring to be on network TV.
  7. The like .1% conversion rate is pretty annoying. You're more likely to just kick it straight out of bounds than actually get the ball back. Can you still sneak an onside kick in?
  8. Gotta get under the cap first ? Yeah - they could have had a pretty good deal for him. Tyrod got pick 65 last offseason and Foles was Super bowl MVP.
  9. I dunno - Witten wasn't very fast and what'd he catch like a thousand passes? Same goes for Kelce and Gronk - None of these guys runs faster than 4.7.
  10. Super athletic players flame out all the time - i don't care much for combine numbers when it hasn't translated on the field much. His 3 year stat line looks like a good 1 year stat line. How is that not an issue? Isn't it strange that AJ Brown put up significantly better numbers every year? Using the old 100 yard baseline - Metcalf had 4 100 yard games in his 3 year's playing. Brown had 4 100 yard games in his last 5 games of his time at Ole Miss. Better do your homework on this kid if you like him with a 1st round pick. Is he open and his QBs just preferred throwing to the other guy?
  11. Wouldn't hate it. So sick of James white tearing it up every year. Get us a James white
  12. They are trying to save money on the 1 year deal while they plan to replace him. If someone offer sheets - they'll just match. They have more cap room than we do anyway.
  13. Very little cap impact by releasing Ivory -unsure of dates as he has a roster bonus and a workout bonus. If you can upgrade that 1B running back position I say go for it. If you don't have to use draft capital - even better. RBs usually come cheap. Once the Bell contract drops - it'll likely be tevin coleman as the next large contract. I do think Latavius Murray, CJ Anderson, Jay Ajayi, Mark Ingram and to a lesser extent Alex Collins, Spencer Ware, and TJ Yeldon - are better options at 1B RB than Ivory. If you had to use 3-5 mil in cap for them vs the ~3 for Ivory, I would do it.
  14. He's 24 and has averaged 1000 yards rushing over 3 years. Ivory is 31 and has 1 1000 yard season in 9. His YPC was down last year, but i wonder if the switch to Nagy's offense had something to do with that. If the price is incredibly low - I'm in. We currently have a really old core of RBs, and while we could draft one - he's a relatively known commodity. Plus shady's off the books next year (ivory likely cut this year) - so it just gives another option. I'm cool with drafting someone though - price is probably too high for Buffalo to jump in. Jets seem more logical if they end up missing out on bell, especially if they're looking to add picks from trading #3.
  15. He was paid a huge contract to be a Aaron Donald type disruption. He was paid to get after QBs, and to make plays in the run game - NOT to eat space in a 2-gap rex ryan scheme. Since his 1 all-pro year where he had 10 sacks (and subsequently got paid) - he has 8.5 sacks over 4 years. His TFL, QB hits... every aspect of his game is worse over than it was. He's still a good player - and would be a valuable member of a rotation with every team in the league. He's still quick enough to play 3T, and big enough to play NT. He isn't scheme dependent - even if his best fit is in something more 4-3, he could still play any position on the line in a 3-4 and be just fine. I still wouldn't even consider bringing him back under any circumstances. He's just not a fit with this bills team - especially with Kyle Williams no longer on the roster.
  16. Yeah 9 million isn't cheap - but the 9 million also may make the picks teams offer less valuable. It's a weak WR market though so if he gets cut he could get a solid deal - he's only 26 and hasn't missed much time to injury and has put up solid numbers in a crowded WR group. 9 million per year is honestly what he's probably looking for out of a deal. And for those saying that is entirely too much (you're not wrong) look at 2018 WR contracts for 26ish year old receivers with similar or worse production: Paul Richardson - 5/40 16.5 guaranteed Marqise Lee - 4/34 16.5 guaranteed Albert Wilson - 3/24 14.5 guaranteed Taylor Gabriel - 4/26 14 guaranteed Add 1 year and a higher cap - 9 million seems relatively in line.
  17. Has experience inside and outside - Was our leading WR last year, had 7 TDs. He seemed to get a lot better with Allen by the end of the year. Had 5 TDs in the last 5 weeks, and had a really nice game with Barkley. The only Goose egg was against Jax - and we didn't really pass much in that one.
  18. I believe it is guaranteed for injury only. They can cut him but i don't think they would be eligible for any type of comp pick compensation. Even for 9 million this guy has some value - He's not John Ross/Corey Coleman. He's averaged 60/750/6 for the last 2 years. That's a solid NFL 2nd/3rd option receiver. You could always trade a later pick and negotiate an extension as well. We have plenty of cap space though so it's not as if we couldn't make it work.
  19. Helps when your coachs are Andy Reid and Matt Nagy in year 1. And not... Marvin Lewis and company. Yeah - Tyreke hill is incredibly fast but he's also good at... catching passes.
  20. Payton brought in Brees. Miami said no because they thought the shoulder would never improve. We rolled with Losman, and then added edwards a year later. Safe to say he was right in that situation
  21. Possibly more - its a lousy TE market. Eifert who's always banged up, Jared Cook whos 32 etc. Eifert's injury history: 2014 - Dislocated elbow, missed pretty much the whole year 2015 - pinched nerve, missed 2 games - made pro bowl and injured his ankle in the pro bowl 2016 - Missed first 8 games with the ankle injury from the pro bowl - finished year on IR with a back injury (team was out of the playoffs) 2017 - Had a 2nd back surgery and missed pretty much the whole year, also had a cyst removed from his knee. 2018 - Broke his ankle in week 4 and missed the rest of the year He's played 6 games in the last 2 years and 14 total in the last 3. I don't know how you can trust this guy at all... He's never been a particularly strong blocker - hence them moving to add Vance McDonald. His scouting report makes it seem like he hasn't taken that next step - still struggles to shake man coverage, isn't polished yet. He's only what 25? So i guess there's the possibility of some improvement.
  22. James is 6'7 260 vs. croom who's a bit more like a large WR. Croom has a shot to stick but i don't think he's like guaranteed a spot. If we were to add a player like James, i would also see us going after someone in the draft. TEs get hurt a lot, and it's nice to have better depth than in the past - Clay, who is always hurt and a bunch of UDFA's basically.
  23. I mean - hes good for what... 8 full games, 2 or 3 games that he leaves after 1 play, and 5 games that he's just straight out for. Definitely worth 18 mil a year.
  24. Makes sense - money to burn, position of need, helps a young QB etc. He walked away from 14.5 mil, he's going for the most money someone will get him.
