  1. I mean - they haven't extended him yet so the financial commitment is minimal. He's a great football player, but he sounds like a real POS on that tape. If he gets cut, who in their right mind would sign this guy? Talent's talent sure - but the things he said... directly to his girlfriend... are pretty messed up.
  2. I wonder if it isn't included in the guarantee due to offset language.
  3. Not sure - it wasn't included in the dead money number the 49ers would assume upon a release/trade - but usually these contracts are fully guaranteed.
  4. https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/san-francisco-49ers/solomon-thomas-21744/ We would owe base salary and roster bonus - signing bonus would be paid by SF. So 2yr 7 mil with an option year that we wouldn't pick up unless he turned into a great player - not a rotational piece.
  5. Plus it's nice to get the guy now so you can get him some time with the 1's before next year. They were 4-12 last year and their defense was a dumpster fire. Super bowl bound, they are not.
  6. It all comes down to the QBs - if there's an early run that's awesome from a BPA perspective. If there isn't a run, hopefully someone wants to jump Denver.
  7. Tannehill has the lost season in 2017 - but when healthy, his numbers are a lot like carr's. They both throw a ton of short passes to boost their comp%. Both were highly overpaid by a guy who no longer works there ( i think tannenbaum still has a job, but its not signing players).
  8. His avg annual salary is 8th in the league at QB, and he's... Tannehill basically. His guarantee after this year goes down to 5 million - its an ideal time to replace him and build something new.
  9. Carr definitely regressed - but so did their offensive line. The year they went 12-4 they put a huge investment in O-line. Carr was sacked 51 times last year, and while his comp% went up, his TDs were down. His YPA was actually a career high, but you can't just forget about 2017 when evaluating him either. He was not very good. Seems like a Tannehill situation - His play doesn't dictate his pay. The fact that they can get out of his contract in 2020 with only a 5 mil dead cap number is important. If you like any of the QBs in this draft enough that you want to build around them, you would probably want to go for it. You don't add Trent Brown, Antonio Brown, Tyrell Williams etc unless you are trying to be competitive this year, so the tank for tua method doesn't really work either.
  10. 38/54 from 50+ career is pretty good. Zuerlein is 28/48. Gostkowski is 25/35 career. So he's up there with the best vets. The young guys like Fairbairn, Lutz, maybe Rosas, and Butker will want to get some big paydays soon.
  11. Injuries too. Fact is like all of the Whaley wide receivers were good. Just needed a QB to get them the ball...
  12. I like him - but he doesn't help with the pass rush like Oliver and Williams are projected to. He's a high motor guy, moves really well for a big man, and will probably be a top player that nobody knows about for quite a few years.
  13. The bad part was the trade - he wasn't like a crazy bust. He currently carries the highest cap hit on one of the best teams in the league.
  14. Not to mention Hill is cheap for 1 more year, and Mahomes is for 2. Watkins becomes tradeable after this year so you can recoup some draft capital there assuming he can stay healthy for a year and you need the cap for Hill. Capwise he should fit in for 2 years and then you can figure out Mahomes.
  15. Really? Use the Mahomes cheap years to try and win now. Guy just won the MVP in his 2nd year - you have 2 more cheap years including this one. Then the 5th year option, then the cap gutting payday.
  16. Just paid Wilson a crap ton. 2 late 1sts in a draft deep with D-line talent. Could see them drafting one with their pick and maybe a corner with the other 1st. They have to adapt the roster around Wilsons huge contract. And they should - he's a top 5 QB in the NFL today.
  17. Same reason shaq probably didn't - probably his agent hoping dr's dont see it and you can get through the draft process and maximize your value up front. Having a post season surgery probably pushes him down boards as team's wont be certain they can be as much of a year 1 contributor. Yeah - i still think he makes it in the first. The last 2 major injury guys to fall like that were jaylon smith and myles jack that one year (both had more major injuries)- and both turned into solid pros. Neither is a primary pass rusher though - which tends to provide more value.
  18. I think one of the strengths in NE is that while white is the primary pass catcher - they prefer do-all backs. White became more of a bell cow in 2018, but in 2017 he was right in the mix with lewis and burkhead. All can block and catch so it lets you kind of play a hot hand, helps with injuries, and you have more fresh legs on the field.
  19. I've played on it and it is a little spongier than i thought it should be. The field house turf was worse honestly.
  20. He has a 50k workout bonus - nothing else is guaranteed so why wouldn't you bring him to camp. I doubt he sticks though.
  21. You would just deactivate one on a gameday - or you could dump dimarco. He was in on 15% of offensive snaps... not exactly a huge loss. Seems to be something they got away from as the year went on.
  22. Yeah - after a while it may be higher. 83 has what 8 hall of famers? Thats probably still the top dog.
