  1. If you think that in year 2 or 3 they an be a featured player in the offense and become a weapon, i'm all for it.
  2. Its a deep WR draft, and the talent available in round 2 of this draft could be comparable to round 1 of other years. Rookie WR's tend not to contribute much anyway, and our depth chart would keep less pressure on him to contribute right away. It's a bold style move - completely avoiding the need piece and just looking at finding talent. Yeah - he wont get the big splash plays, but his ability to turn 2-4 yards into 10-20 yards is legit.
  3. I'm not advocating reaching by any means - i hate that. If a 1st round rated player is on the board at 54 pick them 100 times out of 100. I'm all for adding talent - if they push out someone else? So be it. I'm hoping one of the WRs slips - higgins or shenault or something. That'd be neat for the offense. Higgins has more upside than a duke williams, and shenault could be a useful gadget player while he earns playing time.
  4. I know its a 1A/1B style running back league... but we just drafted a guy last year at 74 who looks like a stud. Now we're using more draft capital than last year at the same de-valued position?
  5. He's limited for sure - I'm not sure how you build an offense around him. Its basically a lamar jackson style offense, with a less dynamic runner and a less confident passer. He probably has a better arm than LJ but he's unwilling to unload the RPOs so that part of the game isn't going to be as effective.
  6. Watkins played well in the playoffs for the Chiefs last year... but his regular season numbers are pretty rough for a guy drafted where he was, and getting paid like he is on contract 2. Woods has back to back 1000 yard seasons and has basically made brandin cooks expendable (goff might have made cooks expendable). Goodwins going to be 30 and has had 1 good season... i think it was more likely that was a fluke, than that buffalo underutilized him.
  7. I would - Allen is better than Brown. He's a big dude, makes his money in the middle of the field and gets open a ton. He has a higher catch rate. He's 2 years younger.
  8. I mean at the end of the day - 3 1sts is great and all, but if you have a chance to fix QB you should probably do it. If you have Tua as a prospect in the vein of a can't miss starter with all-pro upside... you should draft him.
  9. I think they'll have to lax a bit on like - contact between coaches and players since they can't meet in person. Make sure ur guys are getting workouts in. Same will go with full contact practices, 2 a days, etc. Give coaches the freedom to try and get them ready.
  10. There's always the chance that Washington takes Tua and deals haskins on draft day too... He didn't have a great year 1 (rookies rarely do) - but a 2nd year QB on a 3 year 5 mil (Total) contract with an option for another say... 25 - is a pretty affordable contract for a team. He'd still get you some solid compensation. And i totally believe they should do that if you think Tua is a better prospect than Haskins.
  11. The biggest problem everyone had with him was leaving plays on the field because of indecision. His atheticism bailed him out a lot, and he limits turnovers, but it also resulted in a lot of sacks. I think Lynn is smart - and will incorporate TT into the run game with Jackson and Ekeler. The only issue is how they utilize Allen and Henry with a QB who is reluctant to throw contested passes, or over the middle in general. The improvements to the oline have been good - turner and bulaga will be helpful assuming bulaga can stay healthy. I think they're somewhere between 8-8 (8-9?) and 10-6 with Tyrod. Bosa, Ingram, Harris, James, joseph - its a pretty solid group on defense when healthy. I'm not sure why Cam isn't an option there.. Winston would be a hard sell, but i think he might be a better fit for the offensive group. Or go all in on a Tua. Can probably wait til post draft to evaluate, but there's no way i go into the season with TT as my only option. Not after he flamed out so badly in Cleveland.
  12. QBs should have confidence.. even if they aren't really like chosen as "the guy". In any case - going to be tough sledding for the chargers, they really don't have any fans in LA. Their defense is pretty solid, and they have playmakers... but the offensive line will remain an issue. They also have one of the best timing route over the middle WRs in the NFL, and a QB who stinks at that. Same - overpay on the trade and worry about it later. Need something to advertise to the potential fans.
  13. Nothing about signing a player prohibits them from drafting a player. I think 54 is early though - considering they drafted the starter last year at 74. Bring in a talented player... at whatever position at 54.
  14. Their defense isn't terrible. They also really haven't improved at all and im not a big fan of their coaching staff. We both had the luxury of an easier schedule a year ago. They just had a horribly inefficient offense. They had 3 weeks in a row where they scored 34 points. They followed that up with 6 against the bengals. They lost midseason to miami and got beat down by the jags.
  15. He played alright last year. He's the least of their problems.
  16. They're going to sign someone. Beane has basically always said - i like to use FA to fill gaps, and then have flexibility in the draft.
  17. I mean - he was in management so i assume they would? It just makes sense to send an email "hey - if u still want it etc." rather than interview people and spend tons of time.
  18. My bro just got laid off by the padres... He got his vacation pay at least. No guarantee they hold his job or anything either.
  19. Not being able to do a physical is going to be tough for him right now. His shoulder issue in 2018 was still showing up in 2019 before the ankle ended last season prematurely. If he's sapped of arm strength, and isn't able to run the ball as much - he really isn't the same QB that he was.
  20. It's a business - they all operate differently. The team president or owner may give total control, or they may not - there may be more of a collaborative effort in some teams than others.
  21. GM reports to someone. I also feel like you would need approval of like.. at least one of these guys below or the owner. They probably went through with the hopkins move for a few reasons - cap space for one, and hopkins may have been more of a problem than they are letting on. Who knows. But there's a 0% chance they trade him. Why create future cap space for watson only to trade him. It doesn't make sense. President – Jamey Rootes Executive vice president of football operations – Jack Easterby Director of football operations – Clay Hampton Director of college scouting – James Lipfert Director of pro personnel – Rob Kisiel
  22. One would think they would be made aware if the franchise QB was being moved.
