Kickers in the draft
Bleeding Bills Blue replied to BillsShredder83's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm open to punters and kickers tbh. Both need upgrades. -
Right? If we're getting the 2015-2016 versions of these players - we're getting Migraine Harvin 6 games in 2 seasons - 7 million well spent. Watkins with foot problems - Is the screw in? Are they taking it out? Whats next with this guys friggin foot?! Not to mention complaining in the media about targets... Woods who falls over all the time, am i the only one who remembers this? (Not the rams woods - we get 2015 woods) Goodwin whos probably hurt training for the olympics Shady with hamstring problems Hell Clay didn't even play a full season here. Hogan? Guys a mediocre slot receiver who could play special teams.
-
Harvin over Beasley?? The guy was healthy for like A year in 2011 - he's not better than anyone when he's costing 6 million to get 25 catches. He cost a million in 2017 and played in what... one game? I can't say at his best harvin because we didn't get him at his best. We got him after he flamed out everywhere with migraines, weed, and attitude problems. AND paid him 6 mil.

Harvin is probably worse than McKenzie if you count ability to play more than 3 games per season as a skill. I'd give the nod to Beasley over Hogan. Clay and Knox both dropped passes. So lets give it a push. Rookie Karlos was an upgrade over Gore for sure - Motors fumbling was a bit of a concern too. Woods is younger and probably better than brown. I'd give the nod to diggs over watkins simply because in the 2 years under rex with this group together, watkins missed time in both seasons. Diggs>Watkins Brown<Woods Beasley>Hogan,Goodwin McKenzie>Harvin Prime Shady>Motor Karlos>Gore/Yeldon It feels so much better than what buffalo trotted out in 2017/2018 - but i suppose its on par with what whaley put together. Only issue with whaley was the cap. We lost woods, hogan, gilmore, goodwin... And had built a team around Tyrod, Glenn, Dareus, Clay, and 2 1st Watkins. That core was and is not enough to do anything in the league.

bradin cooks vs stefon Digs
Bleeding Bills Blue replied to dbfla10's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He was traded because NO didn't want to pay him with Michael Thomas proving better as a rookie. NE traded him because while his numbers were good there, I dont think they wanted to pay him that contract that the rams did. It kinda worked out for them as they basically rented a 1st round pick and got it back a year later. The thing that matters here is - he got a concussion in the super bowl in 2017. He also missed time in 2019 with a concussion - and had a career worst year. So there is a serious injury concern. HOWEVER... They got a 2nd round pick for him coming off a season that was worse than Zay Jones year 2. I think for the talent - a 2nd round pick is a steal. But he was recently injured last year, and generally sucked. So in that way you're like did you overpay? It's a bit undecided. -

The Trades all had to do with money. NO didn't want to pay the 5th year option so they traded him before they had to choose. NE picked it up. NE didn't want to pay him what he wanted on an extension. So they traded him. It's not like he wasn't good and thats why he was traded. However 4 years of brees and brady do make for some nice numbers no? -

Bradford, Keenum, Cousins vs Brees and Brady... Cooks did have the nice year with Goff - but a healthy Gurley helped propel that offense. And in his best year in LA, he was actually 2nd in receiving to woods. Cooks also was not good in 2019... which harms his value in a what have you done for me lately way. -
I mean the hopkins deal is so bad in a vacuum that adding this deal to it makes the sum of the deals terrible. This isn't a bad deal imo. Guys gone over 1000 yards receiving in 4 of 6 years. Between him, fuller, stills, cobb they have a pretty good crew, and you tack on a RB who's more flexible than Hyde. Only problem is like all of these guys are injury concerns. And when you factor in that all of his guaranteed money is already paid out, its basically a year to year deal at this point, and super flexible from a cap perspective - you can move base salary to further years etc. Just feels like every year they're getting busy NOT paying players. Then trading for others. It's strange.

I dont even know how to respond... clearly i was joking, and my joking was not even directed at you. I didn't think we were getting all metaphorical about the empire of the patriots. -

What do you have as the WR rankings? Like who would you like to see at 54? -

One-Hit Wonder: Brandon Spoon 2001

Old school training techniques. Those torn muscles are caused by a lack of flexibility and overexertion. You see it a ton with professional wrestlers - Torn pecs, biceps, triceps, hamstrings etc. Seems like Trainers and players put a much greater emphasis on flexibility. Training also seems to lead more to plyometrics and trying to create speed and usable strength. -

If Jefferson ends up in NO, I think he'll do well. Seattle might be interesting too - lockett metcalf and jefferson. Maybe GB. Somewhere where he's not expected to be #1, and can play in the slot, move around etc. He probably slips - but deep ball tracking and actually catching the ball on deep routes is more important than running really fast. Same with Getting off the line in press, as well as running more of a route tree. I think a super fast 40 would have got him picked higher, and thus more money. But it doesn't really change who he is as a player. -

Big 3. Higgins probably. Jefferson. Mims or Reagor maybe? Aiyuk could sneak in there too. I think all of those guys are gone by our pick, as well as probably shenault, Claypool, maybe Pittman too just because of size. I'd like to see Tyler Johnson later in this draft, guys just a football player. -

If the WR we get is the 10-12th off the board. Who would you want it to be? Do you think the 12th one off the board has all-pro potential? -

And just because players have high 2nd round grades doesn't mean they don't go in the first. My guess is at least 5 WRs are off the board in the first. Maybe 6. And i think 10 or 11 will be selected before buffalo picks at 54. -

Define "Generation". Is it better than 96? 2014? Is it that the top 3 are can't miss? Or is it that it's super deep? Why does it HAVE to be in the 2nd? Whats wrong with a WR in the 3rd? We don't even know who's there in the 2nd vs. 3rd. -
Karlos Williams making a comeback

It also helps if you're good at football. RB2 in a Greg Roman offense has traditionally put out some pretty good numbers. Edwards Last year... Gillislee... Hyde... Kendall Hunter... -
Mike Clay 2020 team projections: Bills
Bleeding Bills Blue replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It's a projection. They dont factor injuries, growth, anything. They basically just use a computer to figure out who is likely to win games, and how many total points. The total points would = X TDs. Divvy up the TDs based on projected offensive output etc. Then get an expected yardage total and do the same. Sack totals, all that - its not based on how many sacks the players have had, they are probably basing off of the rotation that McD does. How many total snaps, how many sacks per snap career. Etc. This is solely a projection based on quantifiable data that they have. It helps - but its a football game, not a baseball game. Batting projections work because of trends - and the fact that its a 1x1 with batter and pitcher. The Hitters goal is to get a hit and get on base. The pitchers goal is to get outs, limit baserunners. Simple. Everything about football makes data collection hard, as well as hard to use. You give up a 45 yard TD as a corner because mahomes broke contain and scrambled for like 8 seconds. You eat the TD there even though it's likely a defensive ends fault. Without knowing the play calls, the assignments, etc. you never really know what you were supposed to do there. Same goes for offense - RB could get 80 yards and its truly just a blown assignment by a safety or something. How do you factor that into a projection a year later? I'm hoping McD starts coaching like a winner. Not saying he needs to go nuts here, but don't be afraid to win by like 10... or even more! lol
