  1. i mean - even if this was the strategy (which i doubt) - its not like you're locked into it either
  2. 2 each against the jets and fins defenses kind of helped too. Both teams in free fall... but we also had 5 games before the jets game where buffalo scored under 10 so... it wasn't just the schedule softening up - there was some improvement for sure. Yes - also teach him to punt a little bit. Doesn't need to be great, but good enough that if its like 4th and 4 from midfield... we can put him out there and make them account for it.
  3. Snow play makes the most sense... Joe Webb to Deonte Thompson was right up there though. 3rd and 6 - disaster snow conditions - on our own 39 with under 2 to play in OT. 3rd string QB in due to injuries to TT and NP... Probably leading towards a tie which wouldve been bad for playoff chances etc. I always say the same thing. Guys mostly there to be a special teams guy - and doesn't know the entire Offensive playbook necessarily. Some gadget plays maybe, and a limited playbook for QB. If things get to your emergency QB you need to just scale your O way back anyway - Lot of option and a fair amount of misdirection style passing.
  4. That one appeared to be on Gilmore... Looked like cover-1 man with a single high safety. They both got beat since the safety let him behind him, and gilmore got beat on the double move. But speed will do that to you when you blitz like that.
  5. I'm a total allen fanboy - but I'd feel a lot more comfortable with needing a big game out of watson vs. allen.
  6. They fired Coughlin... this seems like one of the many issues he had with his players.
  7. Eh - could end up being a hold out situation. I think they pick up the 5th year option and he becomes fairly expensive year 2 unless you can work out an extension.
  8. I like henry - hes made strides. Paying a running back just never seems to work out though. If someone comes around that you like at a mark ingram type of price - I'm for it. Otherwise draft.
  9. I'd say 53 - since there would be no like base salary changes based off of it. You would just have to take out contract things that factor in being active on gamedays. Practice squad players get a reduced salary, so exposing them to games for no additional money exposes them to possible injuries while being paid well below the league minimum and not actually accruing contract years. It's clearly said on here that it really isn't possible to just "not play your starters" - since 7 players can be made inactive... we only carry 9 Olinemen so someone has to play... we have 5 corners and 1 was inactive - someone has to play.
  10. Stadium capacity was 80,024 back then. I know green bays is around there, but thats a lot for a smaller metro area.
  11. Yeah - watching some of the highlights on that and it was like... a slant route had to be kind of on the money... a little behind the receiver so he didn't get lit up. You wanted them to kind of just catch it and stop right there. Same with deep posts and crossers... you couldn't lead your man into coverage or he'd get destroyed.
  12. He lit it up with fitz and the jets.. then the next year that offense was just... a disaster. Decker got hurt, but they still had marshall, enunwa, and anderson. Forte and Powell. Fairly good o-line pieces. Defense didn't get as many takeaways, and the offense gave the ball away all the damn time. Recipe for switching from 10-6 to 5-11
  13. Meh... Probably smart to move on from a guy who had never called plays before. 2nd stint in Miami - 3rd stint with Fitz... Lets be real guys, we all know how this is gonna go. 1 good year, 1 bad year and hes out.
  14. Where do you stand on our own free agents in Phillips and Lawson?
  15. I say maybe in an actual game - but week to week momentum? Not as much in football. Maybe like a lost season feeling creeps in and preparation isn't as good - but this was a pointless week 17 game. No momentum to be lost or gained there.
  16. I wonder if allens just later on the reads on those types of routes so they aren't open when he goes through progressions? Or if Barkleys arm limitations forced them to change things up a bit to make up for it.
  17. 8-8... with no QB. I guess thats impressive. If they hadn't lost the last 3 games of the year maybe I'd consider him a coach of the year contender? Still - Denver finished 7-9 with a bunch of scrubs at QB too. Bears went 8-8 with Trubiskey..
  18. He's clearly the starter there - 65% of snaps vs. 30 or below for everyone else and trended up as the season went along. Kroft being healthy helps add a 2nd TE who functions more do-all than someone like smith.
  19. I thought he played pretty well... very active blocker in this game as well. Made some tough catches on the sidelines. He had a bad drop - but foster also had 0 catches on 4 targets. Considering Mckenzie seemed fairly dangerous with both speed and elusiveness on his runs and stuff (minus the drop), i'd probably have foster inactive? I guess it depends on the gameplan, do you want to use roberts in the mckenzie role, williams as a conventional X/Z WR, and carry foster simply as a gunner? Where is the need more important? Jumpstart the O with mckenzie? Or core special teams with foster?
  20. Thats a lot of dough dude... Cooper getting 20m a year seems a bit scary when you remember the drops and inconsistencies. Ngakoue is going to get paid really really well. Armstead i guess it depends what he gets paid - he was a part of a beast D-line so... did the lightswitch go on and make him a double digit sack guy? or is he closer to the 3 from the last 4 years?
  21. I'd probably look to target someone who may not be a FA. Look at some cap casualties and try to trade for them. Allen Robinson, Sammy Watkins (probably not, but i suppose stranger things have happened), Robert Woods (they need cap space to sign ramsay and... anyone else - he's one of the only guys who provides any cap relief), Goodwin (could probably be had for very little), Marvin Jones (They probably don't need the cap space that badly, but their defense is pretty bad and free agents are expensive.. wouldn't surprise me) - might be had for a mid-late round pick. Etc. I know we're likely to go WR in the first this year - but if someone jumps us... it'd be smart to have planned a bit more for it. We started the year with Zay, then Mckenzie/foster/roberts, maybe duke williams here and there. It's a position in need of a major improvement and i don't want the draft to be the sole area where we look at doing it, since FA happens before the draft.
  22. I think he was fine leaving - the contract built in the out and he took it. I think he was under the impression that he'd get the jets or bears jobs that offseason. It worked out with him getting the Jags job - and he even put together a nice season there. But back to back failures with the exact same defense - and him being an offense guy? Time to go.
