  1. RG3, Tannehill, and Cousins in addition to Wilson in 2012. Even Foles would've been a decent option. There were Jimmy G and Bridgewater in 2014. Goff/Wentz/Prescott in 2016.
  2. Right? Once we got Allen I think i truly understood the failure of Nix/Whaley. You can get your QB in a variety of ways - they settled.
  3. I think at the time - with Tyrod's refusal to throw 50/50 balls, maybe they thought KB could jumpstart the offense a bit?
  4. Yeah - Dareus was not without problems either. The suspensions, drug arrest, drag racing... I don't think that Beane and McD like wrote him off either - I believe he was given every chance to play and contribute, and he just was not buying in. Scheme fit doesn't really make sense as a complaint either, I think he should have been able to play a phillips like role as a 3T - but they had him at nose because he was way too heavy. He didn't want to be here so... trading him for nothing allows you to accelerate cap penalty into 2017, and dump the guaranteed salary in 2018 and beyond. Double win. With Watkins, I think a lot of it came down to availability from injury - and maximizing a previous investment. They had no intention of re-signing him, and getting the pick they got was much better than forcing yourself to work the comp pick formula. Ragland wasn't a scheme fit. Darby wasn't either.
  5. I know they paid him his base salary the rest of 2017 and i think they restructured 2018/2019. Either way, IIRC 2018 was a fully guaranteed base salary so i assume it was a lot. 2 and a half years for about 40something million from buffalo. Jags paid him about 23 for 2 and a half years. Now hes a FA and no one wants him.
  6. Buffalo struggled with man coverage last year. It was also not all on receivers/TE's.
  7. From what i can tell - this puts pressure on Dak to report/play under the tag/negotiate a new deal. Dak lost a bit of leverage when the cowboys signed a backup with 133 career starts. If he holds out - cowboys can still retain his rights, and they aren't wasting a year of the roster they put together. If Dak doesn't report, there's a good chance Dalton has one of his better seasons, and comes into free agency in 2021 looking for some tannehill money.
  8. Yep - basically if they don't throw a guy over there you just throw it right off the snap and you can get like 6-10 yards. NE does this with Develin sometimes. You split him there so they have to adjust the coverage to edelman. I'd be willing to give the rookie a long hard look though. Depends on his hands, blocking, special teams ability etc. He did block a few kicks in college though - he's also most likely bigger, stronger, and faster than Dimarco. Also a high character fella. We'll see i guess.
  9. I'm fine with paying him - just paying him in the realm of what he is worth. Fisher, Armstead, bakhtiari are all approaching FA, so the top numbers will be going up quite a bit. If you can get him at around the 15 million dollar price point - thats still in the top 10 average annual value. But less than the Lewan, Solder Tunsil (and probably stanley) deals. Once 2022 rolls around and armstead, fisher, villanueva, bakhtiari get deals itll be outside that top 10.
  10. For me - Dawkins isn't even top 3 in the conference, let alone the league. Paying him top 3-5 money doesn't make sense.
  11. https://www.pro-football-reference.com/teams/buf/2019-snap-counts.htm
  12. There's always the option of also trading a player for player at another position too. Sort of what they did with Harold for Bates. Maybe there's a LB out there or a RB that they had their eyes on that they can pry away with a cut candidate due to an injury or something.
  13. They had 7 D/ST touchdowns last year including 2 blocked punts. Defensive scores, and takeaways in general are hard things to control year over year. The way to control TO differential is to not turn the ball over. They just added 2 new TE's and they have a solid stable of running backs, and a better offensive line than a year ago based on health. They're going to run the ball and probably set up Stidham with playaction. Lots of screens and backshoulder stuff that won't result in turnovers, and they'll target edelman for some easy yards. Doing as much stuff as possible to make it easy on Stidham, and make it easier on their defense. Their defense maintains a strong secondary and had strong depth a year ago. They blitz so much I'm not sure the Van Noy loss is that huge. So many young QBs in the league and they just force them to make mistakes. If the defense maintains their hold as a top 5 yardage defense (#1 last year), and can still generate something like 25 or so takeaways (36 last year) - they'll be in the playoff race.
  14. It's Post-draft and Cam newtons still a free agent. Many teams are strapped for cap space. Jameis Winston threw for 5000 yards last year, is younger, and just signed a deal for a million dollars. He's at the rock bottom of his value at the moment. Just sign somewhere where you might get some playing time and hit open free agency next year when teams have money to spend. He's 0-4 in the playoffs and hasn't made it in 5 years. Nobody has cap space to give the guy 18 million, nor should they.
  15. Ahhh good old pigpen.
  16. Even though he's terrible. Before that was Landry Jones... who was also terrible. I think they're trying to use QB2 to develop behind Ben, but they all come out terrible. And it cost them 2019 because they were pathetic down the stretch. What a waste of a beast defense that grabbed a ton of takeaways.
  17. 3-13... 8-8 against baltimore though and 12-5 against the browns. So he wasn't terrible against the rest of the division Is he? Winston just got 1 million. There's no market for his services at 18 million.
  18. Not going to read the article but - Allen did have an absolutely atrocious game against NE in week 4. The blocked punt was the big killer but Buffalo played incredibly bad in that game.
  19. True - but with Cam still hanging out there. Might be a better chance at a ring as well if that's something he's going for.
  20. I think Pittsburgh would be interesting. Their season fell apart last year because all their backups are terrible. Roethlisberger has missed time in 4 of 5 seasons, he's 38... they should have a backup plan.
  21. They like Barkley for his brain - but between Daboll and Dorsey there's a few brains in there now. At the end of the day, if Fromm can process things faster and they have comparable arms - you go with Fromm. Processing speed, pocket presence, and ball security are the most important traits a backup can have. He's there to come in, take whats given, get balls to playmakers, and not turn it over. Barkley has 21 picks, 10 fumbles over a span of 645 snaps. He has a low sack rate but an insanely high int rate.
  22. Assuming Daboll/Allen can figure out a way to score more than like 10 points against them. I know they lost players on defense but they're still formidable, and they seem to blitz and confuse Allen like no one else can.
  23. Hopefully you're right. Hoyer sucks.
  24. Not for lack of trying. They traded for glenn (always injured), drafted Williams (immediately got hurt), drafted price (also hurt, now just not good), drafted Ogbuehi and Fisher. Just a lot of misses and injuries. I think Jones in the 3rd would've been a good target, but lets not forget that they also have a terrible defense
  25. I just see him as a better backup plan than hoyer. Considering Winston just got paid like nothing - its conceivable that he'll also get paid nothing.
