  1. I can't ever tell - i suck at time zone math. Plus its vegas so who cares ?
  2. I mean I'm sure there's parts where like - dropping a TD pass hurts more. or dropping a 3rd down conversion hurts more, since you went from expected points added of say 1 to negative? I dunno they never explain this stuff well.
  3. I mean - you're there for a few days - i don't see the need to stay there for 2 weeks to play in vegas and then in arizona. Vegas is a 6 hour flight, and I probably want to travel on friday - do my walk through early saturday and then lock them in their rooms lol. Catch a late flight home sunday night and take monday off. Back at it on Tuesday.
  4. Dropping watkins on a 1yr deal and gaining a 2nd + gaines, and dropping darby for a 3rd + matthews. Ended up helping acquire Allen and drafting Philips. Matthews wasn't good and we were in the playoff race and in need - a guy was available in the mold of the Demaryus thomas/Andre Johnson role that I think dennison wanted (and didn't get in holmes). They were still 100% a ball control zone-rushing offense, but the big contested guy on the outside for backshoulders was what they were looking for. Obviously he had the knee injury that basically made him part time for a month and a half, which didn't help with his contribution here. That he came in 2018 fat as hell was on him - but in 2017 i think the idea was there? I was actually happy when beane just cut him because it was obvious he wanted no part in rebuilding and wasn't putting in effort. This is the guy the panthers traded for: Rashaan Gaulden.
  5. They kind of explain it here - but its based on first downs and where you are on the field i think. http://www.advancedfootballanalytics.com/index.php/home/stats/stats-explained/expected-points-and-epa-explained
  6. Didn't evolve to this era. Buffalo also didn't really have the personnel to run it - outside of man cover CBs. They needed to bring in a real NT, and play dareus and williams at end. Hughes would need to play rush LBs. Losing Aaron williams back to back years was a big blow, but i don't think corey graham was what they needed at safety either - that was a big problem on the back end. They had no depth there either.
  7. I don't think he needs to get heavier - he needs functional strength. Explosiveness. Football speed. Pretty much all of that stuff is the reason WRs take time to acclimate to the NFL. All of that needs to improve, as well as mastering the position to the point where it becomes a reflex, not a thought process. How many guys come out and struggle with press coverage, how to use leverage to get open, blocking, play books etc. I feel like rookies can get overflowed with all this information about what they're doing on a given play that it bleeds into the play - they're thinking about what they need to do on a given snap, not playing football. That's why i think he ends up on PS or IR if they think there's a lot of potential there. Cant teach hands - and he's got those.
  8. I mean - All-pro safety James missed most of the year. So they get him back. They added Chris Harris to pair with Hayward. Added that rookie MLB from Oklahoma. Added Linval Joseph. All that plus bosa and Ingram. They were ranked 6th in yards allowed last year without James and those additions. They turned the ball over the 2nd most in the NFL while getting the fewest takeaways - a recipe for losses. Improvements at LB and CB, with james coming back should help them improve. The offense couldn't run the ball at all last year, and rivers was a turnover machine. They added turner and bulaga to help out oline, and even added kelley at RB. They did all of this - while still drafting a QB at 5 overall.
  9. I mean NE had... fewest points allowed, fewest yards allowed, 2nd most takeaways, scored 5 TDs, and had a safety. I see where the Pittsburgh argument comes in though - they were pretty beast last year. The patriots 3rd down number last year was insanely good though. Between that, and the really small amount of RZ possessions - they were really hard to score points against. Hence the lowest PA in the NFL by a huge margin.
  10. Rex's defense had a lot of checks, if you screw one up good luck. . Quicker snapping offenses will have success snapping off motion/jet-motion because of confusion for the LBs and Safeties. It works alright if you have good man corners on the outside - you take away their best WRs. But in a more spread out age with 3 WR sets being common - it's a tough sell. It becomes more of a tough sell when the LBs and Safeties aren't particularly talented. The linemen didn't seem to buy into what their role was either. Most of the big plays allowed this year were on screens, and missed tackles. I remember poyer screwed up that one play in philly. But either way, they aren't chucking up deep balls and completing them - even wallace does a good job preventing those with his size/athleticism.
  11. I mean - maybe? Guy had 100 touches 5 years ago. I wouldn't consider him a priority.
  12. In some cases maybe - i do think Running backs are using up hundreds of carries in college. Really cuts into earning potential.
  13. Depends what camp looks like - i don't know that buffalo can come out flatter than they did in 2019, but in any case. NYJ have improved their line and if its a battle of running games and turnovers - who knows.
  14. The oline was the big thing holding them back last year, and they put some heavy investment into it - Fant, McGovern, Becton. I don't personally love Fant (and hate him at 10m aav), but its an improvement. I think Mims will play right away, but he's drafted in the 2nd round - there's typically a reason a player slips (route running, separation etc) - so expect him to contribute, but i wouldn't pencil him in for 75/1000/8 his rookie year. Regarding the Defense - Mosley coming back healthy is big and i wouldn't understate his contribution, and i think you also hope williams has a bigger impact. The concerns for me on defense would come down to the secondary - it just doesn't look anything like a top level unit outside of Adams (who wants an extension).
  15. I'm not sure what it is - but i don't think he fits what gase wants to do either.
  16. Yeah - the announcers tried to put that one on josh... yes, it was low but it should have absolutely been caught, and it was thrown to keep beasley away from the defender.
  17. That and they wasted a ton of money on Bell, who didn't play the year before and was adequately replaced by conner and samuels.
  18. Yep - he just wasn't on the field for the 4 singletary carries in that game. So obviously him being there means he stops him on all of them.
  19. Which is so strange - ive seen plays where the rusher gets chop blocked into the qbs ankles get roughing the passer. He didn't MEAN to do that, so why is he penalized?
  20. Right - but they scared no one last year. True they don't get a full offseason, but harry missed camp and was on IR through most of the year. Not ideal for a WR to make a contribution. Sanu showed up in October so he didn't even have a camp there. The question was convince why they are good - mostly it comes down to defense being very good, and offense being only marginally worse than previously.
  21. Every TD is reviewed too - which can be annoying when the call is no TD then the camera immediately shows that it is a TD. Guess i have to waste a challenge because the judgement call decided to say otherwise. I mean its 2 years from the saints getting hosed on that call now... but whats the plan if there's a completely blown call like that again?
  22. I mean buffalo had 4 decent drives in the first half. 2 fluky INTs, a bobbled snap, a classic allen fumble (he needs work on those), even an unsportsmanlike conduct to knock them out of FG range. Not moving the ball? They had almost 200 yards at half.
  23. Reviews in baseball to me are the worst. when did the ball get there, did his shoelace come off the base when he was sliding? Did the tag come off the shirt slightly while he avoided it? If you wanted to review anything just have an electronic strike zone. No gaming it with framing, no umps with reputations for calling stuff inside vs outside. And it doesn't slow the game down. Probably speeds it up honestly.
  24. honestly - i hated it as a review. Just add a sky judge in the ear of all the refs to help with judgement calls. Id rather a late flag come in than waiting for head ref to put a headset on, grab a tablet and all that crap. Can probably help with some of the bad phantom calls too
  25. I'd say getting the Thuney extension in - could also restructure some guys, extend hightower. They have 25 mil in dead this year, so they'd really need to start using some future cap. Cutting sanu just makes that group so much worse, for an already not particularly good unit.
