So at least a few of the 2nd and 3rd tier guys may come off the board.

Foster played fewer ST snaps (37.92%) than perry, neal, j johnson, k johnson, and coleman. He was not a primary gunner. Mckenzie played almost half of the offensive snaps in 2019. Foster also caught 3 of 18 targets in 2019... he has long odds of making the team imo.

Foster would likely be the cut. Now do you activate this guy over McK? Considering McK is a gadget player and has made plays for the team, i don't think so - not for a 4th WR. I'm not against it, but what's to say theyre the BPA? Right - like whos the starting running back for the 49ers right now?

I'd argue Shenault too. But again - we don't know who else is there. Their board isn't the same as kipers, and they probably have some players higher than others.

I like him too. Injury prone. But it seems like almost all of these guys have some injury concern. They're basically free agents due to coronavirus. But i think one of these guys ends up here, and a rookie. At the very least need to push Yeldon. I don't even know why they hate yeldon so much. Had 900 total yards and 5 TDs in 2018, career YPA of around 4. I know he doesn't play special teams but yeesh, we carried dimarco and perry for 27 games and yeldon played 6... mostly when singletary was out. Some strange frank gore obsession by the coaching staff. Maybe beane likes yeldon and is trying to convince mcdermott that we already have the backup RB?

Hyde, Freeman Miller. All older, and would need a workout before a team would sign them. Crowells coming off an achilles so he'll probably be cheap.

Disagree. The super bowl was played with damien williams and raheem mostert as the feature backs. How many more YPC will singletary get than yeldon and taiwan jones anyway? I believe they're going to bring more people in, whether a 2nd 3rd or whatever pick. They'll probably also sign another free agent.

I'm not against it - If someone they have as a first round talent is there, go for it. Especially if the other targets aren't as appealing. I personally want to see a 3rd safety there to use big nickel a bit more. Between Neal and Johnson you're somewhat suited to handle slot WRs, but neither player there is irreplaceable. Neal brings more to special teams, but Johnson has been hurt in consecutive years and has had some tackling issues. I also think adding another layer to stopping TEs is huge. Especially when the class of the AFC is Baltimore and KC who both use that part of the game a lot. Steelers added Ebron as well.

Mckenzie played about 40% of snaps, and Duke/Foster about 20 each with roberts at about 10. Now Diggs basically takes all of those snaps. Even a 2nd round rookie is looking at like 10-15% of game snaps... IF he can push Mckenzie out of gadget snaps. I assume Foster will be the cut - he was alright on special teams... but Between taiwan, neal, wallace/Gaines/rookie, and other depth safeties... its not like he's matthew slater. Correct - its also silly to assume a rookie pushes out veterans on a depth chart. It's also a bit of a luxury to draft a player who if all goes to plan, might get like 100 snaps.

Mcgahee averaged 1200 yards and like 8 TDs a year over 3 years.

My only criticism here is you are only evaluating based on that drafts running backs regarding spiller. The fact is - we had 2 running backs in lynch and jackson - you only take spiller if you think he is a superstar. I can actually argue Mcgahee was a better pick - he was closer to a superstar. Spiller was not a superstar, or even particularly good. I'd consider someone a bust when they don't really provide much discernable value to the team that drafted them.

Just depends how it falls. Using a first on diggs means its very unlikely that the 2nd or 3rd rounder would be used on a WR. Even with a small role to cut out, thats just a lot of draft capital to spend on a single position with already going 3 deep at the position. Depth is important too, so if there's like 1st round talent leaping out on your board in the 2nd round, i guess you have to take a shot? It's definitely tricky. I mean Mckenzie and Foster are both like 25. Roberts has made his money as a returner (5 return TDs career) - but he also has 3000 yards receiving in his career. Duke Williams played his way onto the team last year too. The guy we're talking about might not even be active on gamedays if everyone is healthy.

He didn't get a 2nd contract here, essentially flamed out with injuries. Had about 400 total yards rushing+receiving after he left buffalo. He did make a probowl i guess.

Ehhh i think Spiller is a bust. Injury prone, had 1 good season, and washed out quickly. Ryan Mathews got the injury-prone tag, was drafted after, and had a much more productive career.

The McCargo pick wasn't like a luxury. It was straight up dumb - we took whitner over ngata - then moved up for this guy. That we somehow stumbled into Kyle Williams in the 5th is stunning. I also remember that year thinking - i'd be fine with cutler. JP doesn't have "it".

I think hes better than a lot of QBs, especially if you build an O around him

Gore's a tough sell. He was the best player on a ton of bad niners teams. He was a good not great player, and played pretty well for them in their brief little run under Harbaugh. He'll get HOF just because i think people respect the like... 5000 yards after age 30.

I think with covid-19 and the inability to get him in with your doctors, his unique fit (he is not a fit for all offenses), and only recent full availability hindered his ability to find a team. With the draft coming up you'll see how teams address the position like NE, LAC, Miami, Jax, Wash.

Yeah - there's always a blueprint to stopping an offense. The execution of that blueprint separates good teams from bad ones. Disguising rushers, and bringing pressure in unique ways will tank the rams offense. Teams also had a lot less to worry about with Gurley, so the play action game wasn't as effective. The Ravens are stopped by good secondaries and good front 4's. If you're disciplined in your rush lanes, and disciplined in your gap integrity - you force him to step up and make the throws. If they can't run the ball, they'll struggle since its largely a vertical passing attack. You just have to keep at it even in the 3rd and longs because if he breaks contain he can make it happen.

He was on year 3 of a 3 year deal - he was a definite cut candidate. 16 mil cap hit with 9mil in space created if they cut him. I think they'll draft someone this year though so they have a bit more insurance when they let him walk next year. That'd give them Hill, Hardman, Draft pick to go with Kelce. I'm sure they would like a RB as well, but i think they'll roll committee because its cheap and they'd probably be better suited building up the offensive line. Not sure what they do with Chris Jones either, between him and clark you have like 35 million tied up in Defensive Ends - while also having like no corners.

Your thoughts on tannehill match my thoughts on goff. The team was assembled during his rookie contract. He was never the engine that made this offense go - 3 deep at WR, a solid (overpaid) TE, and a top 5 RB. Now the RB is gone, they're trying to move one of the WRs to try and create space to keep Kupp. The once strong offensive line is no longer a strength. Wade got the ax again, so we'll see what the new coordinator does. Depth is an issue when you move so many picks, and have so many high dollar contracts. They'll eventually have the highest paid corner and highest paid DT, a high paid QB etc. I think moving on from Gurley helps... that was a terrible deal. But being unwilling to move on BEFORE you make the mistake is a big problem to me. Goff could be on his 5th year option right now.. maybe he holds out etc. But they could just as easily make a run at Cam, or Dalton etc.

I don't think its wrong to pay a wilson top dollar, or mahomes when his contract comes up. Rodgers, Brees, etc. It's the other guys making top dollar where its a concern. Why is Cousins making so much money? Goff? Carr? Tannehill?! He was so valuable that he threw for under 100 yards in their first 2 playoff games. And you're going to pay him more than Newton and Brady get on the open market?
